[00:00:00] Speaker A: Foreign.
[00:00:14] Speaker B: Hello.
[00:00:14] Speaker A: Hello everybody.
[00:00:17] Speaker B: Welcome, welcome. Welcome to Candidly 30.
Welcome.
Hey happy day after Thanksgiving or two days after Thanksgiving, I guess now at this point.
[00:00:29] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:00:29] Speaker B: How was your Thanksgiving?
[00:00:30] Speaker A: It was really, really good. So I've been. By the time this episode comes out, I'll have taken my test, but I'm studying for the series six. I'm going to take it on Monday and that's really what I've been focused on for the last few days. So we did do.
We stopped at two friends houses, well, my neighbor and then a friend of mine. So we had like the whole turkey dinner. We met like a bunch of people, had wine and just like chit chatted. But the rest of the days, Wednesday, Friday, today, tomorrow are all dedicated to studying. So I've just been kind of like cleaning house and reading and being a little bookworm.
But the sun finally came out today so I went for a little run. It was nice. How about you?
[00:01:09] Speaker B: That's awesome. Yeah, Thanksgiving was really good.
It felt really good to stay here. I worked on Wednesday and Friday just to save that leave, get things going. Also, we're just like six weeks behind from the government shutdown, you know, so we're just like really trying to.
[00:01:29] Speaker A: Get.
[00:01:29] Speaker B: Get things picked back up.
My team is going to be moving, adjusting, fluctuating a lot this December. My supervisor is retiring and then one of the people on my team is also retiring. So we're really in the struggle bus right now. We are trying to figure out how the heck we're gonna get all this work done because I don't know if people are aware, but we're still under a hiring freeze as per an executive order from the president. So we're not allowed to hire anyone. And so the only people that are an exception to that is seasonals or temporary positions. So everyone is just trying to make the parks run with temporaries. And so our team is specific for seasonals and temporaries. And so we're just getting a influx of trying to get these new positions that we've never done before because the parks are trying to get people to staff the parks. So it is quite an interesting time right now. Not to mention this is just our busiest time of the year no matter what. So.
Because yeah, PWR hires the most summer seasonals out of any of the regions. IMR Intermountain region is pretty close behind. But yeah, so it's a really weird time for work. So I feel like it was really good for me to stay here and work and everything, but actual Thanksgiving Day was really lovely. It actually felt really nice to just like wake up and not have to do anything. We, Mila and I went on like a pretty long walk, run and then yeah, we just like got ready.
We ended up going to the grocery store, which I felt so bad. I'm like, that is my nightmare if I had to work on freaking Thanksgiving morning. But I'm very grateful and thankful all the people that did work on Thanksgiving morning, grocery store and got a whole like fondue board together because we were in charge of the appetizers. So that was really fun.
And yeah, went to three Thanksgivings, went to Kevin and Lynn's house house and just like hung out for a bit and had a drink and then went to some of boyfriend's friend's house and just hung out and had a few drinks and then went to his parents house and so we made their appetizers there and yeah, just got to hang out and dinner. We had dinner with them, actual food with them.
So that was really great. And sorry, do you hear the dog? Hey, hey. Can you not do that?
[00:03:50] Speaker B: We don't have to edit that out. She's part of the podcast. So anyways, Matt went this weekend to.
To the coast with his dad and so we are having a girly weekend and we just went on a really long hike just now and we ran a few errands and we went to Goodwill because why is a girls weekend without Goodwill?
Yeah, and I actually scored some pretty cute stuff.
[00:04:15] Speaker A: Stuff.
[00:04:16] Speaker B: So just like random. I'm just like walking by. I'm not like a looker of clothes at Goodwill. I love all the other stuff at Goodwill. But I just like walked by and like found this really cute jacket and or like sweatshirt thing and then I found these like two cute like workout like tops. So anyways, yeah, it was, it felt very successful. So yeah, we're just here, we're hanging out and when I was on my hike, I was writing all this stuff down for this episode so I can get ready for it and use my brain and also hiking at the same time. So anyways, it just feels really nice to have like a chill weekend, like.
[00:04:55] Speaker A: Prepped and had and are ready.
[00:04:57] Speaker B: Yep, totally. Because we're not gonna have a free weekend again for quite some time. So yeah, it felt really nice just to be able to hang here and yeah, was great.
Do you have any updates for the pod?
[00:05:11] Speaker A: Yeah. Have you guys started decorating for Christmas yet? That's like my next big project is to like take down all of the Christmas decorations that are in storage and like kind of start that project.
[00:05:22] Speaker A: But I haven't started yet because I'm like waiting until the last minute.
[00:05:29] Speaker B: Yeah, no, we haven't done that either. We are supposed to go get our Christmas tree with a bunch of people this weekend, but it hasn't happened yet. So we talked about decorating and we're like, okay, we'll decorate your house this day and then your house this day. And I'm like, oh my God, that just seems so obnoxious to decorate two houses. But it's okay. I'm like very minimal decorator. So I got my wreath on my front door as we all know. And then a few like ornaments and cutie cutesy little things. But other than that I'm not gonna do a whole lot because I'm not gonna be here for Christmas. And to decorating two houses just seems like the most to me right now. So. Yeah, anyways, but what are you gonna do for.
Are you guys gonna get a real Christmas tree? Are you team fake Christmas tree? I can't remember.
[00:06:13] Speaker A: I think we're definitely on the the team fake Christmas tree my husband and I built. It's just like a triangle. They had this thing on Pinterest forever and a day ago, but it's basically just like a wood triangle that looks like a permanent Christmas tree. And then we decorate it and we just put like our, our, our Christmas like gifts.
So we'll do that again. We didn't use it last year cuz we weren't my folks for the the holiday. So this is our first year in the house like decorating for Christmas. But I think I'm just going to do really basic, garland some lights, call it a day. Like I don't want to get too crazy with it, but we are thinking about throwing together a holiday party. So we met with my friend and all of her friends for Thanksgiving and I was like well you guys should do this again for Christmas. And they were like well maybe not maybe, I don't know. And like if you want you can have it at my house because it's much. My house is just a little bit bigger and my husband has this like DJ room upstairs that he wants to invite his co workers and have like a nice party. So if you and boyfriend are around, if anybody's in Portland on the day that I decide to have this party, I haven't decided yet. I'll let you guys know. You should come over.
[00:07:26] Speaker B: Yeah, for sure.
Yeah, we would totally come. We need like a three week prior RSVP though because we Are. Yeah, we're just busy, busy, busy people. Like, trying to split all these holiday parties, like all the holiday parties between our two friend groups is unreal. It's. It's next level. So we're just trying to survive at this point, so.
No, it's not what I mean.
Anyway, yeah, so we'll figure it out.
[00:07:56] Speaker A: And then you're leaving, right? You're not going to be in Oregon.
[00:08:00] Speaker B: I'm going home for Christmas, so going to hang out with mom and dad, but I haven't exactly decided what the plan is going to look like for that. I kind of am going to. I was like, looking at flights last night just because I think that would be so much easier instead of driving for two whole days and being down there for two whole days, that kind seems really rough. So, yeah, I was going to try and fly, but then looking at flights, like, even if you fly, I thought for some reason, like, if you flew on Christmas Day, like, it would be cheaper. Abso freaking lutely. Not. Not. It's the same exact price, if not more expensive than like Christmas Eve or something. So I was like, okay. Also, it's just impossible to fly to Sacramento from Redmond because they're both such small airports that it's such a pain in the ass. Like you have to have a layover and then. Yeah, just like going all the way to San Francisco to have a layover. It just seems so insane. And then. But yeah.
[00:08:49] Speaker A: Oh, my gosh. I found one I was flying to from Portland to sfo. I found like a cheap flight maybe three or four weeks before I flew. Maybe it was like a month before I flew, but it was less than a hundred dollars for a round trip ticket. But if you're like tiny little airport from a tiny little airport and there's no direct flights, that's got to be like 250 easy for a re. Like a return. Around.
[00:09:12] Speaker B: No, around trip. They were literally $900.
[00:09:18] Speaker A: Stop it. A thousand dollars just to fly? Are you kidding me?
Oh, my God.
That is ridiculous. All these freaking companies.
[00:09:27] Speaker B: I am not joking you. Yeah. Is that insane? I know.
[00:09:31] Speaker A: That blows my mind.
[00:09:32] Speaker B: No.
[00:09:34] Speaker B: It pissed me off. It's really annoying.
[00:09:37] Speaker A: Yeah. Oh, my God. Okay, well, let's.
[00:09:40] Speaker B: I know they're like 8.90 something. 8.92 or something. I was like, okay, made of money.
[00:09:46] Speaker A: Oh my God. That's ridiculous. And all you want to do is like, go home and see your family in Sacramento. It's not even like a.
You know, like you're flying to Paris or something.
[00:09:55] Speaker B: I know.
[00:09:57] Speaker A: Anyway, let's move on.
[00:10:00] Speaker B: Hopefully that will happen.
[00:10:01] Speaker A: I don't know.
Anyway, talk to me about your Black Friday, though, because, like, the last time that we were on the episode, we made a big old stink about people not buying stuff on Black Friday. So, like, today we're gonna talk about our faves. So we're gonna go through some products done, like, some recipes and TVs and stuff like that. But, like, walk me through your Black Friday. How did it feel to not buy anything?
[00:10:20] Speaker B: Oh, my gosh, it felt so good, actually. I mean, granted, most of the day I was working, so it felt pretty insane anyways. But no, I didn't. I literally didn't buy a single thing. I haven't bought anything from Amazon in months now, so I'm feeling pretty good about that.
Yeah, I have been trying to just shop local as much as I can. Like, I got my Secret Santa pres. Presents local, obviously. When Sam was visiting, we did a lot of local stuff as well. We went to. There's something on my fades list from what we did.
But, yeah, I just. It feels really good to not. I, like, low key was thinking about going to this one store today because they said they extended their, like, Black Friday sale to today. It's a local store. It has really cute clothes. It's kind of like.
[00:11:09] Speaker B: I don't know. Shoot. What's, like, a comparable for it? It's kind of like a boutique, but, like, way cuter and cheaper clothes, if that makes sense. I mean, it's like all the, like, trendy stuff. Like, it has, like, everything trendy right now. Like, kind of, like the sheen of, like, boutiques. You know what I mean? That sounds bad.
[00:11:29] Speaker A: Like a consignment store.
[00:11:30] Speaker B: No, it's, like, all new. It's just they. I don't know how to describe it. It's basically just, like, kind of fast, fashiony, but, like, way cuter and not terrible quality and not terrible, like, materials.
I don't know. So it's not, like, the best store, but they always have, like, the cutest and latest trend. So, like. And they're having a huge Black Friday sale extended through today.
[00:11:52] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:11:52] Speaker B: It's called Miko Miko Bend.
[00:11:55] Speaker B: But yeah. So I really want to go there because someone. Two the last two days on Thanksgiving and yesterday someone was wearing something from there, and I'm like, oh, my God, I forgot about that store. Like, I want to go there. So anyways, and then I saw on Instagram that they're doing more sales today. And if you buy, like, a hundred dollars. You get, like, a gift card for, like, more money off. Like, you pull something random, and it tells you, like, oh, you get an additional, like, 10 or 20 off or whatever. You get 50 off or so. It seemed pretty sweet. I'm into that.
[00:12:25] Speaker B: But. Yeah, but I'm excited about faves. It'll be.
[00:12:30] Speaker A: Nothing wrong with that.
[00:12:31] Speaker B: It'll be kind of cool to try to think of things that aren't just, like, straight from Amazon. So that was a good challenge, and I'm ready because.
Yeah. Do you want to kick it off, though?
[00:12:47] Speaker A: Yeah. Okay. So I have been doing. I didn't really bake a ton for Thanksgiving, but I wanted to make sure that I took something with me, you know, not just, like, show up and eat these people food and then just, like, peace out. Like, I wanted to take a gift, so I made a bunch of, like, oatmeal cookies and apple butter. And so I have some of those recipes that I got. Like, I just want to, like, walk through.
I made a biscotti. So biscotti is kind of like the thing that I bring to my parents or for Thanksgiving. And I am not gonna do a pie. That's way too much freaking work. And I'll help with the turkey, but, like, I'm not gonna sit there for three days and brine the turkey. I'll bring biscotti. It's super easy. You can make it the night before. And I made this, like, orange cranberry pecan piscotti, and I loved it. I made an extra. I made, like, three loaves of it or three little things of it so that my husband and I can have some. And it didn't last beyond Friday.
[00:13:39] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:13:40] Speaker A: After the coffee.
[00:13:41] Speaker B: That does sound really good. I don't think I've ever had real Pisces.
[00:13:44] Speaker A: Put a recipe or put a link on Instagram. But the orange pecan cranberry piscotti is. It's like, the perfect time of the year to have a cup of tea or, like, have a coffee and just dunk your little, you know, cookie in there. And it's so good.
So that's my first one.
[00:14:00] Speaker B: Amazing. Oh, I kind of going to, like, hop off that train, though, because I also had, like, not a specific item, but before.
Oh, really? I would trust that.
[00:14:14] Speaker B: But yeah, when Sam was visiting, we went to this new bakery because she and I also love this bakery called Sparrow.
And they just have, like, such interesting, like, different things. They do a lot of just, like, seasonal stuff. They're known for their ocean Roll. It's pretty popular. It's like a cardamom. It's like a half croissant, half cinnamon roll, I guess. I don't really know how to describe it. It's delicious, literally. So, so good.
But anyways, we went there as well while Sam was here. But we went to this new place that I've just been hearing about it. I think it probably opened about a year ago. I just, like, never go to the old mill, like, and want to baked good. I don't know. I just, like, don't think of it that way. So anyways, it's called M's Bakery. And so it's a local.
[00:14:59] Speaker B: They have like the.
Apparently this is what, like, all the raves and reviews, they, like, they have, like, the best baguette in Bend. And I mean, just like, one of my friends is French, and so she says she's like, the croissants are so good. The baguettes are so good. Just like, everything. So we went there and we got this really interesting, like, gochujang pastry. And then we also got.
Shoot, what was the. Oh, we got just a regular chocolate croissant. Oh, my God, they were so good. And we got some chai. But.
[00:15:31] Speaker B: Yeah, we just need a little, like, afternoon snack. And it was, like, so yummy, just, like, because it got a little cold, a little chilly. And so, yeah, I just like supporting local bakeries and, like, people who are doing the most, like, also, just, like, could you imagine owning a bakery? Like, it seems so freaking hard. Like, I just think baking is so hard. Like, I like. I like it and I do quite a bit of it, but, like, nothing like breads and pastries and things like that are, like, insane to me. Just like, beyond.
So, yeah, I just, like, I love all finding all the new bakeries. Also, it's so interesting that, like, we don't really have, like, a cake place or like a cupcake place or anything here in Bend. Whenever it's like, someone's birthday, I just, like, want to get them, like, a cute cupcake or something that's not like, from Safeway, you know? And, like, there is nothing like that here. So anyways, there's definitely a niche if anyone wants to fill it. Hello.
But anyways, yeah, Em's Bakery. Highly recommend. I am a fan. I think Sparrow.
[00:16:29] Speaker A: I mean, yeah, business entrepreneurs and Bend and people who do make.
[00:16:38] Speaker A: Wait, where's M's then if it's in the old mill? I was just there not that long ago.
[00:16:42] Speaker B: Like, yeah, it's kind of like by the.
It's like across the street from Anthropologies, right by the rei.
[00:16:55] Speaker A: Okay. Nice. Okay. Yeah. I mean, a bakery. Yummy. Pastries that slap, like, yes. All of that. All the time. I'm here for it. If I could eat a. Baked like a pastry, like a croissant, like an almond croissant with like the almond paste, and then. Oh, yeah, that would be on a day to day basis, but then I would be a million pounds. And where would that leave me?
[00:17:16] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:17:17] Speaker A: And then I posted this. My next one. I posted this on Instagram, like the day before Thanksgiving, I think. And I was in the process of like making a bunch of apple butter.
It's one of those things I love doing around the Thanksgiving time frame. I don't always get a chance to do it just depending on like what the product or like what the, you know, season looks like. But this year I used Pink lady apples and not a lot of like cloves and that allspice. So it was just more cinnamony and appley and it was delish. I don't. I think I made like three of the smaller mason jars because I didn't make a bunch of it. I'm not here to feed, like Italy people, but I already heard from my girlfriend. She, like, loved it. Everybody that was at the house for Thanksgiving and I dropped it off, she was like, it didn't last until like they ate it the same day.
And then my neighbor, she sent me a note and she was like, this is a. She was great. She loved it. So my apple butter is just, you know, slapping this year, apparently. It's really, really good.
[00:18:14] Speaker B: Okay. What a good present too. Anything homemade like that is legit.
[00:18:20] Speaker B: Awesome.
[00:18:21] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:18:23] Speaker B: Also, it's like, exactly.
[00:18:25] Speaker A: Anyway, that's my next one.
[00:18:27] Speaker B: Yeah, like a little.
I mean, you didn't go pick the apples, I guess, but you could have. There is a lot of that in Oregon for sure.
[00:18:35] Speaker B: Actually, a lot of my stuff is like food related as well. The next one is technically a show.
[00:18:42] Speaker B: But it's. I just watched the Great British Baking show, the latest collection or season or whatever you want to call it.
I was behind. I totally saw, like, who the winner was already before I even watched it because it was all over social media, like, when it finished. And so I was like, oh, my God. But I still had to, like, binge the whole thing because I just love Great British Baking show. And they're so silly. And there's just like, the cast is always so great because there's always like the really Young, like, student who's, like, really good. There's always, like, an older mom who's just, like, a home baker that I love. There's always, like, the token gay boy. There's just, like, all the, like, perfect, like, roles and, like, they always fill them, and it's so funny. But, yeah, I just, like, loved it. I didn't love who won. I'm not gonna spoil it if people haven't watched it yet, but, like, I did not love that person. They irritated me throughout the entire season, and I knew they were gonna win. So, I mean. Yeah, so I think that might have been part of it, but. Oh, well. It's okay. It's a great show. It's on Netflix. If you haven't watched it before, you should definitely watch all of them. They also have holiday ones, which I've watched all the holiday ones already. They haven't done a holiday one in a minute. But, yeah, I'm just, like, getting caught up on tv and it feels so good. I'm so excited.
Yeah. So also, just like, side note, Survivor is getting good finally. Because it was bad for a minute.
[00:19:58] Speaker A: Wait, they did?
[00:19:59] Speaker B: But anyway.
[00:20:05] Speaker A: Whoops. No. The British baking show holiday season, they just released a new, like, seven or eight episodes, and they have older contestants coming back into the tent.
[00:20:17] Speaker B: Oh, that's why I got team it with something.
[00:20:19] Speaker A: So it's like.
[00:20:20] Speaker B: Okay, okay.
[00:20:21] Speaker A: Scottish themed pastries. Or like.
[00:20:26] Speaker A: Yeah, because I've only watched because I recognize the guys, but, like, it's not. And they do the whole.
The three bakes and then they name the winner after it.
Right, Right. But it's not like a full season of, like, you know, the same characters. Every episode they have, like, you know, new people that come in, and then they decide the winner between those. Those people that one episode, not, like a whole season.
Anyway, I love it. I love Paul Hollywood. I love Lou Priest Louis.
Oh, my God. That's insane.
[00:20:57] Speaker B: That's embarrassing.
[00:20:57] Speaker A: I love Pre Leith. I love. Yeah, they're all great. So I love British baking show.
[00:21:03] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:21:05] Speaker A: I could have butchered her poor name. That's really embarrassing. Also, now that we're talking about, like, bending and, like, bakeries and things like that, I need to put out the bat signal for all the people that I know and love them. Live in Bend.
We need to see, like, a Bloody Mary crawl or something. Like, what is the best Bloody Mary in Bend?
Because my husband and I had for the last time that we were there just recently kind of sucked. So what is it with.
Yeah, they're very Pickly. So I don't know if that's like a Ben specialty.
[00:21:40] Speaker B: Oh, interesting.
[00:21:42] Speaker A: But they were very like, like watery and zing zangy, which is, you know, we like zing zang, but I don't know. And I'm not like a savant when it comes to Bloody Mary's, but I could tell my husband was, like, just kind of wishing it would been more substantial.
So if anybody is in Bend, right, you guys, I'm sure they're all there and you like Bloody Mary's and you know, one that you're like, this is the best one in town.
[00:22:05] Speaker B: Yeah. I would also like to know because.
[00:22:07] Speaker A: I have be out there probably in the springtime and we can do a whole Bloody Mary crawl.
[00:22:11] Speaker B: Yeah, I don't know what it is either.
I feel like there always is, like, a vote every year because we do, like, Best of Bend or whatever.
Like, food wise. Well, they do restaurants and bars and whatever stores and stuff too. But the best of the, like, one place that always wins is called the Victorian. I've never, ever gone there because literally the wait is an hour and a half to two hours every single time I've ever tried to go there. So I've never been. Apparently you can sit at the bar and, like, get in way earlier.
[00:22:40] Speaker A: Yikes.
[00:22:41] Speaker B: But, yeah, that's been rated the, like, best bloody and bend for, like, years and years and years. I've never had it, so I can't say if that's true or not.
But, yeah, I feel like you guys would be the ones to know if it's like, a good bloody or not, so. But I do love bloody. I. I would agree with that. I think the best buddy, again, is just like my favorite. The only place I ever get them.
[00:23:02] Speaker A: 26, and I can have my husband.
[00:23:05] Speaker B: Sit in for me, is the only place I ever get them is JD's and.
[00:23:11] Speaker B: In Cory's, so. And we, like, went to Cory's, but obviously we didn't have Bloodies because it was the night time. But Cory's is my favorite breakfast burrito in Bend as well. So.
Any hoosers? Yeah, good point though.
[00:23:25] Speaker B: Yeah. Is it my turn?
[00:23:27] Speaker A: Okay, well, that was just a little side note there, I guess.
Yeah, you go ahead.
[00:23:34] Speaker B: Okay, then. Well, I kind of was gonna go along just because this is like, alcohol related as well, but I learned about, like, a vodka press. Have you ever had a vodka press before?
[00:23:50] Speaker A: No. Educate me. What is the vodka?
[00:23:53] Speaker B: So basically, like, everyone knows I always order, like, vod sods, like, vodka sodas. If you're not in the know.
But it's just, like, sometimes it gets kind of bland, especially if you have, like, a few of them, like, if you're going out or something.
[00:24:07] Speaker B: And it's like, basically. So you can get a VOD sod with, like, lime. And I always try to get, like, more lime just so it's not. Doesn't taste like you're just drinking straight vodka, but sometimes they just, like, give you a lime wedge instead of actually putting lime juice in there. But whatever. So anyways, I started getting. And I learned this from Brookie, so thank you, Brooke. But you call it a vodka press. So basically, it's a VOD sod with. They put, like, one squirt of Sprite in there. So that just, like, gives it a little, like, bubbles, a little, like. I don't know, it just gives it a little bit of sweetness. So you're not just tasting straight vodka, if that makes sense. But, yeah, I'd never heard that before. So it's called a vodka press, and there's this local distillery called Crater Lake Distillery, and they make this, like, blueberry vodka. And so it's just, like, so good if you get the blueberry vodka with a little, like, vodka press in there and you just get a little shot of Sprite. Oh, baby, it's so good. But you're not getting, like, a full Sprite where it's, like, super sweet, you know, Because I hate sweet drinks. So anyways, I'm into these vodka presses, and most bartenders know what they are. I had to tell one what it is, but that's okay. Anyway, yeah, I'm a fan.
[00:25:19] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:25:21] Speaker A: We've mentioned Crater Lake Distillery before. Like, a couple of seasons ago, I think I got, like, the hazelnut espresso vodka, and then they did, like, maybe it was the blueberry vodka that they did. I don't remember.
But we've talked about them before. We love them. And I almost got my husband to stop off in, like, Sisters and do the distillery, but at that point, we were, like, so hungover, and we're just like, go home. So note to self. Go to the Crater Lake distillery in Sisters.
[00:25:49] Speaker B: They actually have a pretty good little.
[00:25:50] Speaker A: Bloody load up on what you need, and then that way you can just, like, head home.
[00:25:55] Speaker A: That sounds awesome, though. We definitely should do.
Yeah, okay, we should. That would be a fun little taste, testy kind of episode. We can just get all the various things.
[00:26:04] Speaker B: Yeah, that would be fun.
[00:26:06] Speaker A: And just do, like, a little double date, and we'll get boyfriend's Opinion and husband's opinion and mine and your opinion. It'll be great.
[00:26:13] Speaker A: Okay, my next, and I guess my last one.
We started watching the new Stranger Things season. Are you a Stranger Things lady? I can't remember if you've like, paid attention to all the various Stranger Things stuff.
[00:26:26] Speaker B: Like, I'm not opposed. I just only watched the first season and then I totally forgot about it.
[00:26:31] Speaker A: I think. I don't quote me on.
[00:26:36] Speaker A: Okay, that's totally fine. I think that this may be the last season that they're gonna do. But I don't know that for a fact. And I'm sure that they'll come out with like a bunch of other, you know, side stories or whatever. But we started watching it. I love this story. I think it's so fun to be back in Hawkings and like, see all the people and the rockin Robin. I love her so much, but I don't know what's gonna happen. We've only been on episode three, so I'll circle back. But if anybody else is watching it, let me know and I'll just like geek out with you about all the conspiracy theories that are popping up in every single episode.
[00:27:07] Speaker B: Oh, my goodness.
[00:27:08] Speaker A: It's. Yeah, there's a lot going on.
[00:27:10] Speaker B: Nice.
Yeah, everyone's talking about it.
[00:27:13] Speaker A: I think you're gonna wrap it up. You have the last one?
[00:27:16] Speaker B: Yeah, I actually have a few more, but like kind of just a little shout out, one more and then a couple shout outs.
So I've been obsessed and I know I'm like definitely late to the game because like, tick tock just like tells me how old I am all the time.
Because there's just like trends that come and go so fast, you know? But like, I'm obsessed with Olivia Dean right now and her new album is just so good. And like, I know people probably know, like the Man I Need song that came out like months ago, it was. That's like the most popular song on the album or whatever. But it just like went tick tock viral. Like the sound just like went tick tock viral.
And so people know her from that. But also she like opened for Taylor Swift on like the last part of her Heiress tour or whatever. So people are became obsessed with her at that time. But anyways, I just really like the album and it's a really good one. It's kind of like. It's just different. It's kind of like jazzy almost. It's not just like all pop girly. Like, it's hard to describe. I was like telling my office mate about her and she's like, oh my gosh, it's like so different. It's just like. Yeah.
So anyways, one of her other songs is like popping off on Tick Tock right now as well. So if you follow me on Tick Tock, you'll see me probably do a sound over voiceover whatever to that sound as well. But anyways, I'm trying to figure out. It's just like kind of like an emotional song. So I feel like kind of awkward doing it. But anyway, yeah, so I'm obsessed with her right now. She's just so cute and I feel.
[00:28:38] Speaker A: Like she's just like more like.
[00:28:41] Speaker A: That'S okay.
[00:28:44] Speaker B: But with that being said, I am just like such like not saying this is like shop local or anything, but like also support people that like, you know, and you love, like me. If you want to, you can follow me on Tick Tock and just do that kind of stuff. But also I've been posting a lot of like Tick Tock shop videos. I've been in the tech talk shop creator rewards program for like a while, but I just never did it because it feels so weird and like foreign and whatever. And I just like, I'm really leaning in at this point and so I have like a couple of different things. If you use the link in my Tick Tock, then I just get commission. And I got my first commission sale like last week and it just felt so weird. I mean, it was a dollar 88, you know, look out, but still, it's just like cool that it's actually happening and like it could actually be a thing. Yeah.
[00:29:38] Speaker A: To start somewhere.
[00:29:39] Speaker B: So it'll just be if you want to support, like, it doesn't have to be me, but just like the creators that you actually like instead of just like the man, you know, like, that's actually really cool and really helpful if you can't shop small or local. So yeah, anyway, it's just like a little shameless plug. I'm sorry I had to.
But yeah, it's just like a wild experience being on, being on there and like getting into that world. Some girls texted me the other day that I haven't talked to in a minute and she was like, girl, I've been seeing your Tick Tocks like go off Queen. And I was just like, oh, I forgot people actually follow me that I know on here as well because that's awkward.
[00:30:18] Speaker B: So anyways, yeah, it just like made me giggle a little bit, but it's so funny. Yeah. So I'm just been trying the most. I'm like really close to getting into the creator rewards program and so it's just like something that I'm working on and like, I don't know, it is what it is, but it's also just like a fun hobby at this point while I can. And I'm able to do it and not get super annoyed by it. So. Yeah.
Yeah.
[00:30:48] Speaker A: Well, I leave your tick Tock videos on all the time.
[00:30:51] Speaker B: Thank you.
[00:30:51] Speaker A: Just in the background. I appreciate them if I can. Not at the workplace because like that's a little weird. But just like today. Just keep moving on.
[00:31:00] Speaker A: Yeah. Become a millionaire and then we can go and like have a nice vacation.
For sure.
[00:31:05] Speaker B: For sure.
[00:31:06] Speaker A: Sure.
Cool. I have. Do you have.
[00:31:11] Speaker A: Do you have one or.
[00:31:12] Speaker B: I just have one more that I wrote on here. It's not super intense or long or anything. I do a really quick shout out.
I know I've talked about like my vodka. Not vodka. Oh my gosh. My tonic before.
[00:31:25] Speaker A: One little thing that I can just mention.
[00:31:29] Speaker B: Okay, go.
[00:31:34] Speaker A: Go ahead.
[00:31:36] Speaker B: I know I've talked about my tonic before, but Lindsay and I just did an exchange where I made her a tonic and she made me kimchi. She makes kimchi quite often, but. And so I've just been eating like a little bit of kimchi every day. Like I know I told you guys about my.
I was like trying to get my gut health back in order or whatever. But yeah, I've just been eating like her kimchi every day and it just makes me feel so much better and I just love it and it's just way better than store bought at all. So.
[00:32:02] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:32:03] Speaker B: Yeah. It's just. It's just one of those things that shout out to Lynn's for her kimchi. Life is the best.
Yeah. And also fermented foods, you know, just like so good for your gut. So.
[00:32:14] Speaker A: Oh, I'm sad. We had such a good time.
[00:32:18] Speaker A: Yeah. We didn't even like talk about the Broko concert.
[00:32:20] Speaker B: Oh my God. I know.
Shoot.
[00:32:23] Speaker A: We felt like I had so much fun.
[00:32:26] Speaker B: Did husband have fun too?
[00:32:30] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:32:30] Speaker A: Whoops. I did take a video.
[00:32:33] Speaker A: Yeah. Hasn't had a really good time. I was like pretty shocked that he walked away with hat by. I don't know, I was just expecting him to be a little sour and like begrudgingly going. But he walked away. He loved everybody. Like, it was a nice band, it was a good vibe. But everybody was talking so loud. So I took that video when they were playing Valerie and I'm listening to it Because I was going to send it to.
[00:32:57] Speaker A: Saul, and, like, your mom, and you can't even hear the song. Everybody's just, like, talking over it. There were so many people talking at that. At that show. I just felt, like, a little bad for the. The band because they did such a really good job, but everybody wouldn't shut up. It was so annoying and so apparent in my video. I'll send it to you so you can see it. But that's the reason why I haven't sent it out, because it was not.
[00:33:21] Speaker B: The best I did. We were talking about it the next.
[00:33:25] Speaker A: But it was a great concert, and we got to see Lindsay and Kev.
[00:33:27] Speaker B: We were talking about it this week, and it just seemed like it was kind of, like, definitely the end of their tour. Like, it was definitely, like, a hodgepodge show. Like, I had a great time and, like, boyfriend had such a good time, which, like, also semi surprised me. I mean, he's seen them with me before. But, yeah, we were just like. Yeah, it was just, like, a really fun vibe that, like, the whole crew was there and everything. But it did definitely seem like the end of their tour, and they were just, like, tired or they just played, like, the most random songs in the most random order. I feel like it was just, like, really funny. But, I mean, obviously I loved it because I love every show that they do. But, yeah, I just felt, like, kind of silly, and then, like, yeah, Midtown just Sex Balls in general. Like, the sound and the quality of sound and everything. So, yeah, like, half of it. We were talking about it this week. Half of it is that you. It's. Half of it's a venue. It's. They're not actually talking that loud, I don't think.
[00:34:17] Speaker A: Think.
[00:34:17] Speaker B: I mean, it's just, like.
Yeah, everything just, like, reverbs so bad that it's hard to tell. But anyway, yeah, Midtown sucks is not on our faves list. Absolutely not.
[00:34:27] Speaker A: Yeah. But Good Night Texas was really great. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, that. That was unfortunate. But Good Night Texas was really good. We got to, like, hang out with the band and see a lot of people. So, like, we had a really great time.
And the main point of, like, us going to Ben was to get my husband in love with Ben, and I think feel like we had a mission accomplished like, that.
[00:34:48] Speaker B: I think he's gonna like it.
[00:34:50] Speaker A: He likes it a lot. So, yeah, I'm excited to go back in the summertime when it's like, there's so much to do in Bend, and then.
[00:34:57] Speaker B: Oh, my gosh. Yeah. So true. Yeah. You could just walk around or bike.
[00:35:02] Speaker A: I didn't read this book, so I, like, really can't tell you if it's.
Yeah, I can't tell if, like, this is a really, really good book, but my husband wanted me to mention it to you, and I figured on the pod with all the people who, like, similar interests.
The Nick Offerman books, he just, like, puts these on for hours and will, like, he's been standing for the last two months in the woodshop because he's.
[00:35:26] Speaker B: Trying to finish that down bar.
[00:35:28] Speaker A: So he's just, like, been listening to all these Nick Offerman books, and the one specifically where the deer and the antelope play is a lot about, like, the national parks and a lot about, like, politics. Ish. And I don't know, he just was like, I think Kelly would really like this book, so you have to tell her. I was like, okay, well, I will mention it. It'll be on our. I can't be a fave, though, because, like, I. I can't endorse it without having read it. But, I mean, I can endorse Nick Offerman, so I just thought it was kind of funny. Like, husband was like, you got to tell Kelly.
[00:35:58] Speaker B: I think she read those books. Haven't even heard of him. I mean, I know who he is, but, yeah, that's pretty much the extent of it.
So funny. Cool. That sounds great. I mean, I'm all. I'm always into audiobooks.
[00:36:10] Speaker A: Yeah. So once he's done with it.
[00:36:13] Speaker B: Cool.
[00:36:16] Speaker A: Yeah, I figured, you know, husband just wanted me to mention that to you specifically. So anyway, I think that we've officially, you know, got him into liking Bend. Got him into, like, you know, wanting to go back.
[00:36:27] Speaker B: Well done.
[00:36:28] Speaker A: Doing double dates and stuff. So this is, you know, bodes well for.
[00:36:31] Speaker B: Yay. I know. I was gonna say. So he liked. Yeah, he liked boyfriend. Then we need. This is a big update. I haven't even heard this information yet.
[00:36:41] Speaker A: Yeah, good. I know.
[00:36:46] Speaker A: Yeah, I think, yeah, we'll definitely want to do, like, a.
Some kind of vacation or, like, we'll come by and go camping again.
[00:36:53] Speaker B: Nice. Yeah, they already have dinner yapping.
[00:36:55] Speaker A: Or have you guys come out to Portland? Yeah, I think, like, he'd be down.
[00:36:58] Speaker B: Cool.
[00:36:59] Speaker A: So he had a really good weekend.
[00:37:00] Speaker B: Oh, I'm so glad. That makes me really happy.
And I hope you had a good birthday Ish. Post birthday Ish weekend as well. And it was so good. Like, I'm so glad you guys everyone was in town at the same time.
[00:37:14] Speaker A: I Did.
[00:37:15] Speaker B: Yeah, I guess you kind of had a grievance.
Just, like, it really worked.
Sound sucking balls.
So maybe we should just go into gratitudes.
[00:37:28] Speaker A: That.
[00:37:29] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:37:29] Speaker A: And then the.
I agree. Yeah. The midtown sucking because everybody was talking. And then also the bloody Marys that I found in Ben.
[00:37:37] Speaker B: Oh, yeah.
[00:37:38] Speaker A: So I guess I'm just gonna go rectify that, but let's shift to gratitudes. Do you want to kick it off?
[00:37:44] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, I guess it's like the perfect gratitude week because it was Thanksgiving.
Just grateful for family that's far away and sad that I didn't get to see them, but also grateful for the family that I do have here and just making, like, holidays feel so special and.
[00:38:03] Speaker B: Yeah, it's just so wild how many people, like, don't go home for the holidays anymore. There's, like, a large contingency of people on, like, both of our friends sides that were here in town. And so it just, like, is really nice when everyone's able to get together. And there was just so many friends givings and so many just, like, opportunities to get together. It just, like, feels really nice in Bend in the winter when we are actually able to, like, get together and hang out and stuff, because during the summer, it's just like, go, go, go, go, go. Like, constant, like, we're doing, like, activities and stuff, but it's not like you just get to, like, hang out at each other's houses and stuff. So, yeah, just grateful for friends that feel like family and grateful that family is far away, but I'll get to see them for Christmas. So, yeah, just a really good and also grateful friends coming to visit.
It was so nice to have everybody in town at the same time. All my favorite people.
So, yeah.
[00:38:54] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah.
[00:38:58] Speaker A: Yeah. Found families. I'd say, like, that is the. The theme of this Thanksgiving, I think. And, like, I talked to my family on Thanksgiving, and they were all, like, having a big bonfire. It was really lovely to just, like, catch up with them. But when we step into a, you know, relatively stranger somebody that we don't know as well, like, everybody was so welcoming and smiley and just really sweet. And I just want to appreciate that because that's not necessarily the case everywhere you go. So everybody had such a big heart this last, you know, weekend or this last holiday. So just really want to be grateful for all the nice people I know in my life, including you. I'm grateful for you. And all of our listeners have stuck with us. This is officially episode 112, Wild. Blow your mind on that isn't that crazy?
[00:39:39] Speaker B: How did we get here?
[00:39:40] Speaker A: Yeah, lots of time and more to come.
[00:39:44] Speaker B: Absolutely.
[00:39:46] Speaker A: So great.
[00:39:46] Speaker B: Totally. All right, well, with that, we. We officially hit our marker. I gotta go to a three year old's birthday party, so, you know, just grateful for 3 year olds in my life, too, that are new besties.
[00:39:59] Speaker A: So that'll be fun. Yeah.
[00:40:02] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:40:04] Speaker A: All right, girl.
[00:40:05] Speaker B: But anyways, more from us in 2026. We love you so much. Bye it.
[00:40:17] Speaker B: Bye.
[00:40:55] Speaker A: That's all for today's episode.
[00:40:56] Speaker B: Hope you enjoyed listening as much as we love you.
[00:40:58] Speaker A: Follow us on Instagram @candidly30.
[00:41:00] Speaker B: See you next week.
[00:41:04] Speaker A: Sam.
