[00:00:38] Speaker B: I mean, welcome back to us, first and foremost. Yeah. Whoops.
[00:00:42] Speaker A: Like, who's. We didn't really talk about this beforehand, but, like, who wants to formally, like, deliver the apology message? I'll let you do it if you don't want. I feel like you're really good at that. We, like, missed the last two weeks of episodes.
[00:00:54] Speaker B: Like, yeah, guys, you know. You know us yet again, literally. And it's summer. It's really hard, like, cable. And I. I have. I feel like I'm proud of us for being really good about, like, having the scheduled recording time and everything. But, like, life still comes up. It's not like it's our job where, like, we can just, like, say no to other things to, like, record.
So it's been tough. And, like, obviously we're very grateful and very thankful that mom wants to edit for us still.
But she texted, like, I think it was this week, or maybe it was last week even. She was like, no episode, question mark. Or it's just like, sorry, he didn't get to it.
But it's a beautiful Saturday and we're both home and we haven't done, like, a coffee ketchup in a minute. So we're just here. Cathe is drinking hot coffee and I'm drinking, like, a little Americano that I made. We were just talking about my Nespresso
[00:01:51] Speaker A: machine, actually, how jelly I am about the Nespresso machine. I would genuinely like to hear from people about, like, what's new in the coffee game. Because it's music, but.
Yeah, like, what's going on? I had a friend stay with me for the last 10 days or whatever, and she had Matcha every morning.
I've never done anything like that before.
[00:02:11] Speaker B: And I feel like not at home. I love Matcha, though. Wait, they have this new. And I know you hate Starbucks, but they have a new Matcha at Starbucks that's like an orange Creamsicle, you know, like, you know how they do, like, the phones on top? That one sounded good. I would be. Maybe I should get that on the way to the lake.
[00:02:29] Speaker A: Shoot. Maybe we should do, like, a taste test. We'll come back and assess if we like it.
[00:02:34] Speaker B: Yeah, okay.
[00:02:34] Speaker A: You get it. And then I'll get it.
[00:02:36] Speaker B: Late summer, like, release kind of things. I don't know. I feel like they've been releasing a lot of flavors lately though.
[00:02:43] Speaker A: Yeah. We are officially in late summer. I'm so freaking excited because fall, as we know is my favorite. I haven't even had two seconds to like think about what fall is gonna look like this year. I feel like your girl's just been treading water and trying to survive. But now that things are good, I have officially passed what I hope is gonna be my last series, whatever test. I'm so excited. This test kicked my little tus and I studied my my little heart out and I passed it on the first try, which is really hard to do. So I'm just grateful.
[00:03:16] Speaker B: Yay.
[00:03:17] Speaker A: I knew have to be opening up a textbook and reading Contract law for the forever future hopefully.
[00:03:23] Speaker B: So crazy. Can you tell us a little bit about the test? Like was it standardized? Like did you have to do the whole thing where like you go into a crazy room with a bunch of people and all that stuff?
[00:03:32] Speaker A: Yeah, it was very one of those surreal moments, you know, when you're like going in for your driver's test. But the one that you do on paper.
But this one was, it's in a office building in Beaverton. So you're going to like the third floor. It's very quiet, it's very clean. The people that run it, I've done this now a few times, so like they remembered my face, which is kind of cute.
[00:03:52] Speaker B: No.
Yeah.
[00:03:54] Speaker A: And then you sit down and you're in this little cubicle with the walls up, right. Like you can't see anything. And they only let you take in your ID and they give you like a key to a locker. So it's very minimal.
And they give you like a calculator and then two sheets of paper, basically. And then it's 140 questions. It's a three hour test.
[00:04:14] Speaker B: Oh my God.
[00:04:16] Speaker A: And it's all very investment.
What is legal, who registers with whom and like the basics of the economics. And yeah, it's very much. It's a really challenging test. Very akin to like the series seven.
I think in the series seven, that's a five hour test and this is a three hour test. So I got to like the last minute and thirty something seconds and I was sweating bullets, not sure if I was gonna pass. I clicked the button to submit and my stomach just like immediately bottomed out. I was like, oh my God. My anxiety like peaked because I had to call my boss and tell all my friends and family. Everybody's been so sweet to like reach out to me and say, good luck. We're like, rooting for you. And. Yeah, my whole team is really sweet. And my. Yeah, my parents sent me a little good luck thing, and my husband did, too. It was really sweet.
But, yeah, it takes, like, a minute, probably, to calculate all the results. So you're just, like, sweating bullets waiting for this thing to, like, up.
[00:05:20] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah.
[00:05:22] Speaker A: And so it popped up. It said, pass. And then, like, automatically I started to
[00:05:25] Speaker B: cry a little bit.
[00:05:26] Speaker A: I was like, yeah, thank the Lord above. Sweet Jesus, I never want to have to do this again. It was.
[00:05:33] Speaker B: Oh, my God. Congrats.
That's incredible.
[00:05:36] Speaker A: Yeah, I feel like I really removed myself from society for the last month and a half just, like, studying for this. So I'm happy to, like, report back and hear what's going on and talk about.
Yeah, give me something to, like, salivate over for fall. What is everybody talking about?
[00:05:49] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, no, actually, yeah, my hair girl. I had a hair appointment this week, and my hair girl said she saw it and she was like, it was good. But, like, brush up, like, because she's like, have you ever read the book? And I was like, no. And she was like, I didn't know what's going on for the first hour and a half. So, like, yeah, just like, brush up on, like, the general premise of, like, the movie. And then I feel like you'll have a lot better of a time, like, going into it. But she said it was good. Like, overall, it was decent.
I don't know. That's just, like, not my, like, cup of tea. You know what I mean? But I will say, you and I think it was your husband, maybe. We were talking to Matt about Silo, and, yeah, Matt, obviously, like, the third season is out or whatever, and so Matt has been watching it, and I just like, him sitting with him while he's watching, and I'm, like, doing other stuff.
And he's like, you're watching it with me. I was like, I would not consider. Like, I have no idea what's.
But yeah, it was just funny because he had, like, reported back that you and your husband were like, she is not gonna like that show.
But anyways.

[00:07:07] Speaker B: And he was like, yeah, I do. I'm like, okay, well, any hoosers? It's just funny. But I.
[00:07:15] Speaker A: We just watched the most recent episodes last night because we haven't. I haven't been, like, paying attention to all that stuff. So anyway, we're caught up on it and it's. I think they're taking a lot of liberties with the later half of these seasons. Like, there's a lot of stuff that's not really in the book, that's in the TV series. So I don't really.
[00:07:33] Speaker B: Oh, interesting. Yeah. I guess I didn't realize it was
[00:07:36] Speaker A: a book, but, yeah, I'm still enjoying it.
[00:07:37] Speaker B: Makes sense, though.
[00:07:39] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:07:39] Speaker B: There's like, four books.
[00:07:42] Speaker A: Hugh Howey.
[00:07:43] Speaker B: Anyway, I don't know who that is.
[00:07:44] Speaker A: Wait, let me. Let me double triple check that I said that correctly.
[00:07:47] Speaker B: He's a sci fi reader. Okay.
But we did figure out that because there's a new season of House of Dragon, and so I already watched the first season and.
And so he was like, oh, well, then we'll just watch the second season together and then the third one together. And then we started watching the second season together, and he was like, wait, I haven't even seen the second season. I was like, okay, great. So anyways, we're watching the House of Dragon together, which is still, again, not my cup of tea. But it's that it's fine, like, background ambiance. Like, I can't keep track of all the Targaryens and Blobbity Blobs and the Air Gons and the Trigons and the whatevers. But, like, I.
I feel like it's like a decent storyline of just like, I can't even. Raniere's. I feel like she's so cool and she's such a badass. So I like. I like into it for that.
Yeah. If you've seen the second season, have you watched it?
[00:08:43] Speaker A: Yeah, I've seen. Again, I haven't seen the most recent episodes, but when my brother was here, we were catching up on, like, season three. So maybe I'm like, two episodes deep into season three. But yeah, Renera is so cool and they keep killing everybody, but that's so.
[00:08:57] Speaker B: Yeah, okay, don't tell me. Yeah, I don't know.
[00:08:59] Speaker A: It's very much. Okay.
[00:09:02] Speaker B: What else do you think I was gonna say? The other thing that I've been, like, really into right now is I'm watching so many old movies on Amazon Prime.
Like, I watched Cinderella Story the other day. First of all, it's so bad, but, like, it's so good at the same time.
[00:09:18] Speaker A: Like, yeah, Hilary Duff movie.
Can we take a moment and just, like, talk about.
[00:09:26] Speaker B: Maybe that's why it's like, highlighting it. Because you know, she's having a moment right now, and everyone's going to see her on tour and everything. Yeah. Like, so many people I've seen have been wearing, like, or going to her concert, and they're dressing up in all these, like, crazy Hilary Duff outfits and stuff, so.
Yeah. What were you gonna say about her?
[00:09:45] Speaker A: I love that.
No, I mean, my friend Amanda is gonna go, or she maybe have had seen her in.
Where is she gonna be? She's gonna be in South San Francisco, so, like, Santa Clara, I guess they have a big arena out there. Anyway, she's gonna go see her, and I am so jealous. I feel like a.
I was definitely a Hillary Duff for sure. I loved her, like, stupid show. And then her movie came out, and then all of her other movies came out. The Perfect man was. Was a cute movie, but, like, I don't know if they hold water now. She was definitely like, like, close to Hallmark kind of music or movie. So.

[00:10:23] Speaker A: I just remember in A Cinderella Story, Chad Michael Murray is the guy that plays Austin.
Was that before or after his oc.
[00:10:32] Speaker B: He was in the OC he was in One Tree Hell, dude.
[00:10:35] Speaker A: Is that before or after?
[00:10:36] Speaker B: Oh, my God, I cannot believe you can'. Figure.
[00:10:40] Speaker A: I've been watching a lot of, like, Ben McKenzie because he has this movie that I'm dying.
[00:10:44] Speaker B: No, I've been watching his, like, thinking
[00:10:46] Speaker A: a lot about the OC Situation.
[00:10:47] Speaker B: Have you been paying attention?
Oh, like, it's like a documentary such.
Oh, yeah.
[00:10:54] Speaker A: It's the. Everybody is lying to you, and it's all about how crypto is totally not real, but you have to pay. You have to, like, go to the theater to see it, or you have to wait for them to do the live stream because it's not, like, readily accessible. So it's kind of annoying. That's why I keep checking in on him, and that's why.

[00:11:13] Speaker A: About the O.C.
[00:11:14] Speaker B: but okay.
[00:11:16] Speaker A: Because One Tree Hill.
[00:11:17] Speaker B: Just say.
[00:11:19] Speaker A: I don't know.
I don't know about that. They were both.
Oh, my God. Okay, so between Ben McKenzie and Chad McElmurray, then, like, who? I really liked the Nathan character.
[00:11:31] Speaker B: Oh, my God. Yeah.
What is his name? Oh, my God. I loved him, too.
[00:11:36] Speaker A: Even though he was.
[00:11:37] Speaker B: Yeah, he was down.
Adam Brody was much more my crush than either Chad Michael Murray or.
[00:11:46] Speaker A: Oh, that's fair. Yeah, yeah, That's a given.
[00:11:50] Speaker B: And he's still so cute. I mean, he's still the exact same person, which is so bananas. But anyways, yeah. Chad Michael Murray I think he aged very well.

Oh, in Cinderella's Story. It's just so funny because, like, isn't it kind of.
Oh, my God, why am I, like, my brain is not fully working yet. I haven't had enough coffee.
The crazy lady from yes. Okay.
That's like kind of her, like, breakout role in it. And she looked. She looks so much younger in it, by the way, too. But yeah, she is hilarious in that. In the Cinderella Story movie. But anyways, the whole thing is, like, so ridiculous. The fact that, like, they didn't know who, like, who she was just with a mask on.
[00:12:39] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:12:40] Speaker B: Like, that's the dumbest thing I've ever seen in my whole life. I know.
[00:12:44] Speaker A: We all bought on to that premise.
[00:12:45] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. Anyway, yeah, so it was. It's been fun, like, to do all these throwbacks, but I was looking. There's just like, a huge list of them, you know, just like 2000s movies of.
And so I'm just, like, slowly making my way through because I don't have. I don't get to watch TV that often, I feel like. But anyways, yeah, I've been kind of loving TV lately and just, like, really chilling. Matt has also had friends in town for, man, like, 10 days.
And so we've done a lot of activities as well. I mean, just, like, it's so fun having people in town, but in, like, they weren't staying with us. So we. We did have a little bit of a break. But yeah, it's just, like, exhausting, like, doing the whole tourist thing over a long, like, extended period of time. But we did a lot of floating. We did a lot of eating out and.
Which was fun. And a lot of drinking. Brothers Comatose was on Wednesday. And they came to that.
It was so good. It was really, really fun.
They played an outdoor show, which was so great because the volcanic, like, kind of opens up their, like, courtyard area for summer shows. And it was so. But I've never gone to a show there for an outdoor show.
And it was even better because Austin ended up opening for them and so Quattlebomb played. I know. So it was a really good time. And yay.
Yeah. And so then he got to play with them, too. And, like, the girls were there for a little bit because Kayla was actually working a Sister spoke fest show. Molly Tuttle played for Sisters Folk Fest in Sisters that same night. So that was kind of crazy. But, yeah, so it was really fun to see Austin, and that was the first time Matt had actually seen Austin play, like, an Actual set.
Because before, like, we had seen him, like, he played for us for Valentine's Day. And like, that. I don't know if I think I've told that story on here.
But yeah. So, yeah, it was fun to. For him to get to see him as, like, actual quaddle bomb. And then his friends, like, loved it. And that was really cool because, like, that's kind of a leap to, like, go to a show that you don't know anything about. I mean, like, they knew it was like, music, but, like, they didn't know who they were or anything. And so they just had, like, a really fun time. And that was really nice, too, because, you know, I'm always, like, a little anxious. I'm like, I don't want you to come to something and then be like, what the. Am I here? Kind of.
[00:15:06] Speaker A: But yeah, it's definitely a vibe.
[00:15:10] Speaker B: That was great. And yeah, we just, like, had fancy dinners and all that stuff, but now we're officially off the hook. And then Matt went camping with his dad, and so I've been solo dolo in the house all by myself because he took Myla too.
So I've just been a lonely. One less lonely girl in the house.
[00:15:33] Speaker A: But don't you love those moments for the house to yourself? And you can just.
[00:15:36] Speaker B: Like, I actually am enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would because I thought that I was going to be. Because, like, either, like, Matt or Milo's gone, not both of them. And so usually I'm just like, oh, I can, like, take my life to the river, like, do whatever. But it's actually been really nice. And he's like, don't you want to come see? Like, because I never. He's camping at a lake called Crane Prairie, and I'd never been there. We. We had never been there. And so he's like, it's so cool. Like, you like it so much. Like, do you want to come visit? And I was like, not really, actually, because I, like, thought I would at first, but now I'm still going. I'm going to go hang out for the day. They rented, like, a pontoon boat for me, so I'm going to go to the.
On Crane Prairie. Yeah. Right after.

Yeah, I have.
So I haven't really, like, cleaned my house because I've been focused on my test, but my plan today and tomorrow is to, like, deep clean. I'm talking, like, bleaching my shower grout and, like, really getting down and dirty with it. So I'm very excited to do that. But right after this I have to go to Dylan's yay party.
So I'll be over there. I know I'll be over there in Milwaukee just for the like earlier half of the day.
But yeah, I'm so glad that we at least got to catch up. I feel like I haven't seen your face in a long time. I'm not like signing off, I'm just.

[00:17:00] Speaker A: We didn't even have a topic right. Like we just jumped on.
[00:17:03] Speaker B: Yeah, you know us, it's fine. Wait, tell me about your friend.
How's that going? What have you guys been doing? Is she still here?
[00:17:12] Speaker A: Yeah, my. No, she went back on Wednesday evening, but she flew in the 19th. She was here for the until the 29th. So it was like 10 good solid days.
So I've known Katie.
It's funny, like my name is Katie and her name is Katie. She's a Catherine. I'm not a Catherine.
I think I've known her since I was three. I don't really remember.
Yeah, maybe even like two. I'm not sure. So her parents were like tea ball captains to my brother's teal team or whatever and they played with Katie's brother. So like they would come over probably two or three times a week for the first eight to 10 years of my life because they were just down the street. So like very much my second family. And so Katie, she flew up here to see me. We're obviously like close to our 40s. We're in our late 30s now, which is crazy to think of but we've never had like a good 10 days together just solo. It's always been like me and my sister, our moms and. And this was really nice. Just have like one on one time with her and we got to go to a bunch of different rock shops because she likes to make jewelry. So she was kind of sourcing big, you know, chunks of rocks that she can take with us. I took really fun.
I'd never done the whole to the bridge thing just because there's so many people.
[00:18:39] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:18:39] Speaker A: So. And we went to downtown Vancouver, went on a rooftop and had like a nice little cocktail at the end of the day because I'm getting off at like 3 or 3:30 so it's nice for happy hour.
[00:18:48] Speaker B: Hour.
[00:18:49] Speaker A: Yeah, Lots of time outside and like took her walking and she's had a little bit of health issues in the last few years. So like we didn't do anything too like strenuous. But it was nice to just like, show her tiger and take her to the vintage shop. We went vintage shopping as well. Yeah, it was just really nice to have, like, girly time.
And she sleeps in till like one or two o' clock in the afternoon. And then I. So right when I get home at like, 4, it was perfect. I would just like, you know, puzzle or we did, like, game nights. We did a barbecue. We had lots of fun time at the house. But, yeah, no, she sleeps in really late. She doesn't go to bed until, like five o' clock in the morning.
[00:19:26] Speaker B: What does she do for work? How does that work?
[00:19:28] Speaker A: I don't know their whole.
Well, she works as a teacher, so, like, during school, obviously that's a little bit of a different vibe. But, like, her whole family is very much night owls. They like to stay up really late and like, game or. I don't know. I don't really know what they do. But then they, like, sleep in all afternoon, too. That's like a. That's a thing that they do.
[00:19:50] Speaker B: Yeah, totally. I could never.
[00:19:53] Speaker A: Whereas my mom is like, the sun is up, the rooster's crow and get your ass up. We're going outside. Dig a ditch.
[00:19:58] Speaker B: Yeah. I was, like, wanting to sleep in this morning and I made it to like 7:01 and I was like. Yeah. I mean, it felt nice. It was, yeah, really lovely. Even though my ring told me that I did not sleep good at all. But I thought I slept good. I don't know. So are you.
[00:20:13] Speaker A: Oh, my gosh.
[00:20:13] Speaker B: I love it. So they just came. Yeah, the fifth one, and it's so much smaller. I want. I want the new one, but it's $500. So the backstory on this is that one of my friends here in Bend, she gave this to me because someone had given it to her to try it out and she didn't. She got a new one because. Yeah, it's just like a. The smaller ones are just, like, so fatty because they have all that. That's so much technology to have in, like a tiny little ring, you know?
Anyway, so she got the new one and so she was like, oh, if you want to try it, you should just. You can have it. And so it's really nice. It was totally free. And so that's why I have an aura ring, because I don't think I could spend 500 on a ring. But the new one, I mean, after having it, I do see the benefit and I would spend 500 on it and I. So I've Just been like, waffling with like doing like a payment plan or something for the new one because this one is just so bulky that it gets stuck on things and it like actually like does. It doesn't even let me close my fingers when I like hold all my fingers together. Like, that's how fat it is. So it's a big boy.
But anyways, also the. The new one just like looks cute, like an actual like, ring. This one looks like it's doing something. You know what I mean? Yeah, you like, knock someone out with it. But yeah, I actually really like the sleep data. It is so accurate with like activities and things like that. Like, it tells me like, you've done a lot of housework today. Like, maybe you should take a break or like, whatever. Like it's like that intense on like. Yeah, it's pretty amazing.
And so anyways, I, 10 out of 10 would recommend. I think a lot of people use it for like ovulation tracking and like period stuff, but I don't care about that. But it is nice. Like I input like my like IUD put in date and stuff like that. And so it has all that tracking and, and stuff too. So it will like notify you when you're like, need to get a new one or whatever. I don't know. But it's kind of just like, nice to know.
Yeah, the other day it did tell me it was like your like activity age has decreased by like two years since I've like, had it or whatever, which is like kind of. No, that's good. I mean, I'm like 34 now or whatever.
[00:22:31] Speaker A: Oh, okay. I thought it was saying like, no.
[00:22:33] Speaker B: Yeah, because it was saying like, just based on like the activity that it was tracking. It was like giving me an age of like how old I was, I guess and so I see.
[00:22:44] Speaker A: Okay, so you're younger. Oh my God.
[00:22:47] Speaker B: Isn't that great? I think 33, actually.
[00:22:49] Speaker A: That was earlier this time, so.
[00:22:51] Speaker B: Nice.
[00:22:51] Speaker A: Yeah, 33.
[00:22:52] Speaker B: That's where I'm at.

[00:22:59] Speaker A: I'm glad that you like it. One of my friend works there as an engine or as a PM and I was just asking him about what company the other day.
[00:23:04] Speaker B: What do you mean? What does that mean?
[00:23:06] Speaker A: Yeah, can I work there?
[00:23:08] Speaker B: I want to work there.
[00:23:09] Speaker A: I helped him. Oh, I don't know. I can ask. Give me your resume. Let's see what they have.
[00:23:14] Speaker B: Can you recruiter me? I just want to be recruitered.
[00:23:19] Speaker A: Yeah, I helped him get that job. He was like, Asking me how to prep and how to structure and like did a mock interview with him and he got the job. So proud of him. Yeah. I can help you.
[00:23:28] Speaker B: I mean that you can. Yeah. I don't know what I'm going to do. We don't need to talk about work, but oh man, I like, morale has been at an all time low. Honestly, it's been pretty bad.
[00:23:41] Speaker A: I keep seeing these things on Tick Tock where people are like, I can't wait for the Netflix documentary to talk about.
[00:23:47] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:23:48] Speaker A: Or whatever.
[00:23:49] Speaker B: I know.
[00:23:50] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:23:50] Speaker B: I wonder.
So bad as well. Or like just like there's. I think I'm targeting. A lot of them are like, yeah, me sitting down for my Netflix documentary about being a federal employee during Trump administration. And I'm just like, yeah. Yes, Queen. Because that is so real. Like the things. And it's so crazy and like, I know that no one pays attention to the government because they don't work for the government, but it is insane to me that people don't know what's actually going on. And it hurts my heart. And like, I totally get it because like we talked about on this podcast, like, I've had to take a step back from like paying attention to the day to day because it makes me depressed. And I get that people don't want to think about how all the terrible things that they're doing, but it's so crazy. Like literally the other day they passed something where they're building a data center on federal land that's protected, should be protected from that kind of.
You know, it's just like every time there's like, oh, there's a mosquito outbreak and it's like, oh, that's because Trump like rolled back all the funding for this like, type of research or like whatever it was like in the Endangered Species act, they just like the explosive. Okay. The cyclospora is a whole other situation.
I don't think that has a lot to do. I mean, it has to do with the fda. So like he has touched that as well. But like the more the other things that are like he's rolled back. There's another thing called the. In which my office mate is also working on is called the New World Screw Worm. It's kind of like a bot fly. But anyways, it just like started infesting our like cow production.
And so like the.
The USDA is now hiring like thousands upon thousands of HR specialists who hire jobs for to just like specifically like target the New World Screw Worm. Because it hasn't Been in our country in like a very long time. But they rolled back all the protections on it to. Because like typically for those type of things they like release a bug that's like, you know, what's it called?
They can't reproduce, right? And so they release it. So everyone mates with them and then they can't reproduce, so they die off. But they rolled back all of the funding and all the research and everything on that. And so now they're just affecting our meat supply. So like we don't have cows because they all have new world screw worm. And like no one's talking about it. And it's like so insane that like they're, they're hiring like thousands of thousands of HR specialists and stuff to hire physicians to like combat this new world screw worm. And no one's talking about it. Like that's why your meat, your meat like is going to go up, it's going to like skyrocket because we don't have any freaking cows because they all got new new world screw worm. It's just stuff like that. Like every single day. I'm just like, people are so stupid. And yeah, I mean obviously I'm faced with it every day as well. Like I sit with all these people who are telling me all these things. Like the person who sits next to me is an environmental protection specialist. And of course everything has been rolled back like the book, like the 107.
I can't remember anyways the real words for everything. But yeah, it's just like things that get rolled back all the time. And she's just supposed to do her job and like do environmental assessments and things like that, but like no one's actually looking at them. And I don't know, it's just so tough. And when you talk to like people, they're like, oh yeah, I saw something about something and like they had no clue and everyone's just going along with it and it really is really tough for me right now. So if we don't have anything change in the midterms, I'm gonna maybe blow it.
[00:27:30] Speaker A: I was gonna say, I feel like a lot of people have been bringing up the midterms lately. Cuz I listen to like my news every day when I'm driving into work and there's a lot of chatter. But we'll see what happens. I, I think we all kind of know what's gonna happen.
And I rue the day that we have some sense of like conclusion to this.

[00:27:53] Speaker A: Like it's closer than I Think people realize, but it's an ever present problem. But in this particular moment in time, I'd really like to just say goodbye to some people.
[00:28:01] Speaker B: Totally on a positive note. Did you see that in Florida, there's, like, three House representatives, I think, that represent Florida, and, like, one of the districts, the, like, Republican candidate didn't submit their paperwork because they're so stupid, and so the Democrat, like, automatically won. So, like, Florida has one Democratic House representative, which is, like, so hilarious. It makes me.
I hadn't heard that. Obviously the other two are going to be Republican, but, like, I love that so much. That makes me, like, so happy.

[00:28:36] Speaker B: Have you been following.
I know this is, like, my algorithm, but, like, John Ossoff, I probably sent you, like, 1800 videos of him. I am obsessed with him. And he is just like Gavin Newsome in right now, where he was just, like, throwing this administration, like, under the bus. And it is so fantastic. He's such a profound speaker. He's so, like, eloquent when he's, like, saying this, like, bullshit. And I'm just so in love with him. And I really, really hope that, yeah, he, like, moves forward because Georgia's always, like, on the.
On the line of, like, being conservative. So I don't know, but I love him.

Yeah. I do think he's really good at pissing people off, which I think is kind of what we have to do, like, to get ahead of their annoying chatter and chips, right? Like, how they just chirp and whatever.
Calling him out on that bullshit and just being like, show me the numbers, because it is crazy. He literally inflated his wealth by $2.2 billion and his first 12 months of his second series or his second whatever. Like, that just blows my mind how you can not be bothered by something like that. So anyway, it's all. And I'm learning about all of this crap, right? The way that they kind of skirt the system. And I'm like, this is such. It's such a. And it's not legal.
[00:30:00] Speaker B: No, I know. Well, did you see also what's gonna happen, like, whole pleading the fifth situation with Fauci?
That is totally sad and crazy. But anyways, I'm proud of him for not saying anything.

[00:30:13] Speaker B: I know, okay. That whole thing just made me so mad. But then I saw this, like, side by side of, like.
Like, someone did this, like, stitch of like, when Trump was put on and, like, how many times he pled the fifth. Because I think someone even Counted, like, Fauci pled the fifth, like, totally 214, I think, specifically. And Trump has pled the fifth, like, 500 and something times in, like, one hearing or whatever. But anyways, it's just the more like, frustrating thing is, like, we know that this is happening and we know this how, like, big companies work. But, like, yeah, just like his family wealth as well, where, like, they're supporting these other countries and then in turn, like, his two sons are, like, getting all of that money from. I can't remember the exact, like, companies totally lineage and everything. But, like, yeah, there's.

[00:31:02] Speaker B: But yeah, that's insane that it's just, like, coming. Like, everyone is, like, actually seeing it and it's still happening. I'm just like, how?

[00:31:15] Speaker A: It's crazy. I in the White House correspond. Correspondence dinner or whatever. He had to, like, sit there while they gave the people the award for breaking the story about his eps. And, like, his connections to Epstein is wholly different from him enriching himself, I think. So, like, prosecuting them should be just as severe, if not worse. So, like, I don't. I don't know if they're gonna bring anything to him because he could just pardon people, too. That's the thing. Like, he's the president, so I don't know this. That's way above my pay grade, but it's definitely something that I've been paying attention to and I want to learn and I want to listen to smart people who have good opinions about it. Like, John Oliver had a big picture on his most recent episode about what they've done to try and track who has connection to the Trump family and, like, their 5, 000 companies or whatever. And it's literally the most complicated situation. And they do that on purpose. They're. They're literally trying to skirt the law. So, like, yeah, yeah, it's kind of. It's gonna come to a head and we'll see what happens. And then they're probably going to be.
[00:32:21] Speaker B: I know. That's what's most upsetting. I did see this one economist again on TikTok. So, like, you know, take it with a grain of salt. But, like, she was saying that if we do flip the House in the Senate, which we're on track to, like, projected to this fall, that we could. She was like, instead of just impeaching him because it doesn't do anything, these are, like, steps that we should actually Take to, like, stop them in their tracks of, like, things that they're doing. And it was actually like, a really good list of, like, how to put them back in their place and. Because, you know. Yeah. Like, again, like, you were just saying, like, if he. He'll just be like, okay, it'll be fine. Everything's fine. And impeaching him, obviously, we already know doesn't do anything. So, like, they need to do actionable items that actually will, like, stop all this crazy. So anyways, I hope there's good people that we're gonna vote into. So any. Everyone go out and vote, please. That's just what I've been telling everyone. Everyone's like, how's work? And I'm like, please vote.
I know it doesn't matter so much in Oregon because we're very, like, yeah, we're pretty. We're pretty purple, but, like, we always go blue. So I don't know. I. I just, like, want people to show and, like, pay attention, that's all. Anyway, I'm off my soapbox now. That's all.

I've just been watching a lot of people who are, like, clearly visibly upset about this, but it's all on Tick Tock and stuff, so I need to, like, go check my sources and not.

Like, what I thought my, like, 30s would be like or something. I can't remember what, like, the tagline was. And it was like, me, like, or this person, like, dancing in a club. And then what it's actually, like. And it's like, netanyahu is a war criminal.
Like, that is, like, totally exactly so political right now.
So anyways, if that defines anything important, that is at the moment. So, yeah,

Because I haven't. So now that I've passed my exam, I am like, like, you know, I'm not in. In this exact moment. I am not currently registered. I have to, like, get processed and stuff. But I will be able to talk through investments, the marketplace, and all these macro and microeconomic situations and circumstances.
Quite honestly, from what I've learned, I don't anticipate.
I should probably not say anything, but I don't really anticipate it to have a crazy effect. But, you know, at least after the midterms, the market will likely go up, and then over the next couple years, we might be due for a correction, but a recession, not so much.
And a lot of people get very liberal with how they talk about the market. Like, is a recession an actual recession? What's causing the recession? What's going on with oil prices and, like, why is it a hundred dollars a barrel? Well, you know, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. They keep bombing stuff, so it's going to be hard to supply and demand. So there's a lot of really interesting things that I get to expand on with clients at work when I have my book up, because I don't have one yet.

So, yeah, I feel like I have to talk about a lot of this stuff pretty frequently, but I don't want to do that so much on the podcast because I get kind of preachy and it's dangerous, too. Like, I can't be expanding on advice and things like that. Like, that is.
[00:36:39] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely. So that makes sense. I was just wondering if, like, our economy, because I know you're basically, like, UK based or London based, so I was like, is our economy, like, directly affecting, like, your customers and, like, what we're doing over here? I mean, the garden is still not producing as much as I want, but I still get to eat something from it, like, pretty much every day. But the tomatoes just won't freaking turn red, and it's pissing me off. But I was gonna say that that's not at all what I was saying. Happy August 1st for. It's just, like, happy that your test is over and you did it.

[00:38:32] Speaker B: Oh, I'm so happy for you. Do you don'. Research my mom's birthday, or are you, like, forever research or you always license now?
[00:38:42] Speaker A: Well, there's continuing education, so I have to, like, go and, you know, do 12 hours of that every year, and then I have to register.
[00:38:49] Speaker B: Every year.
[00:38:50] Speaker A: Yeah, because I have to, like, pay the.
[00:38:52] Speaker B: But not take that test again. Right. Power. Okay.
[00:38:56] Speaker A: No, Yeah. I don't have to take the test again. If I take further tests, it would be probably in two, maybe three years. And that would be for, like, leadership positions and supervisory roles.
But we're not there yet.

[00:39:08] Speaker A: This one kicked my ass. I'm just, like, happy to be cozy and, like, get into my routine. I don't know.

[00:39:18] Speaker A: Are we doing something for Labor Day? Because I know that we talked about doing Timothy or, like, did you plan anything?
[00:39:27] Speaker B: It sounds like we're going camping, but I don't think we've actually planned anything. Do you want to come with us?

Yeah, I would like to do that a little bit more. I'm so excited to clean. I'm such a type a nut job that, like, getting into it just scratches that itch for me.
[00:40:12] Speaker B: Oh, my goodness. Yeah, I feel like it's. It's one of those things, too, during summer. Oh, did I tell you? We just got, like, a house cleaner, which is really nice because there's. There's just so much going on that, like, we don't have time to do the, like, floors all as often as we would, like, like, do, like, dusting and, like, stuff like that. And so it's just like. Yeah, it was. It was time, and it was causing a little bit of, like, strain on being like, you know, I am gone all day, and then I'm not gonna come home and, like, dust the house. Whereas, like, Matt's here all day, but he is supposed to be working. Like, he shouldn't be dusting the house either. So it's like, one of those things where, like, just trying to figure it out. But, yeah, it's so lovely. I came home and, like, even the, like, nespresso machine was, like, cleaned. I was like, damn. And she, like, made our bed.
[00:41:05] Speaker A: Love it. You know those.
You know those moments in, like, TV shows where there's, like, a little sparkle or something clean? I feel like I always envision 100.
[00:41:14] Speaker B: That's how I felt like walking to the house when she, like, made this little, like, bow on, like, the paper towel holder. And, like, our toilet paper thing is like, oh, my God.
We. That was just like, a. Because we had done a bunch of construction mats. Matt just finished the bathroom. So I don't know if I told you, actually, but. But we had. You guys had come after he had, like, finished the bathroom. Finished the bathroom. And then literally that next. After the party barge weekend that next week, I come home from work one day, and he had ripped out the entire mirror and pulled out all of the. You know, because he was like, that's just a bigger project to do the, like, lighting. He wanted to, like, redo all the lighting and do all the drywall and all that stuff. Stuff. Oh, no. I come home from work day one day, and it's just like, the entire bathroom's torn apart again. And I was like, the bathroom was done. The bathroom was done, and you tore it all apart. Again. So that was another week of him doing the full other part of the bathroom. So we like rewired everything, put in like two like his and hers, like big mirrors and then like new lighting and stuff. It looks really beautiful. But I wanted to drop kick him.
And so that's where the frustration came in. Where I was like, we are living in drywall dust and we have been for a whole month. The one month that we don't like. Yeah. Want to have time to do anything else. So anyways, he got the house cleaner to clean up all the drywall.
[00:42:40] Speaker A: Oh man.
[00:42:41] Speaker B: So anyways, but we're talking about doing like a monthly thing because it would just be nice to like get a little bit of help on like that kind of stuff. Stuff.
So. Yeah, but we like. Yeah, we, the lady that we got, we like thought it was like a one time cleaning fee. And then like if you do like a monthly, you know, they like do like a baseline clean and then they like come back and it's cheaper to do like them keep up situation.
But she was a little steeper than we were wanting for like a monthly fee. And so we're just maybe gonna find someone else.
We'll see what happens. But yeah.

I'm so grateful to be done with this goddamn exam.
Everyone was been had Been like so supportive. My parents, my husband, my team lead, my mentor at work was he like texted me the morning of you, like, you got this. So I had a lot of support from my office and the team. They gave me a lot of material and time and space to really absorb the material. So like, I just am really grateful for my little community here. And like I switched into this career two years ago and I'm feel like I'm in a good momentum. Like I'm in a good position for momentum. It just feels really nice to. I don't know, you know?
[00:45:12] Speaker B: Yeah. So that's what I'm very proud of. That's amazing. Also, switching careers is not easy. I've been like contemplating it. I'm like, do I just like work my job and then at night like go to school and do something completely different? Because I'm so unhappy.
Like all of, I mean, I know all my friends are. And not saying that I don't want to be a nurse in any way, but like Lindsay and Alexis, it's so incredible. Like Alexis was like, oh yeah, I have five days off and then I work two and then I have five days off again. And I was just like, that's the most incredible thing ever. Like working nine to five, five days a week is such a joke. Like, like, I mean, yes, they work twelves and that is no easy feat in any way.
And so I'm not, and I'm not trying to minimize their jobs. I'm sure it's very hard.
But yeah, just like, I think it's more for me is like I could compartmentalize like 12 hour days.
But yeah, having to spend majority of my life in this job that I hate so much is so painful right now.
So anyway, I don't know. And we'll wrap on it.

So. Yeah, I don't know. And like I. The other day we had to do these intros. Sorry, this is more of a grievance than a gratitude for me. But anyways, I am grateful to have a job and to have some sort of job security. Even though that Job security is quickly dissipating into the ether because, yeah, everyone is so unhappy. But anyways, yeah, we were on this, like, big team call the other day, and I was.
Oh, my God. I just, like, had a brain fart, and I lost what I was gonna say. What were we talking about before that?
[00:47:25] Speaker A: We were talking about, shoot, your job, me being grateful, passing my test, you thinking about changing careers. You love the park system. You love the mission. Anyway, that was a pretty good one.
[00:47:41] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:47:41] Speaker A: I mean, yeah.
[00:47:43] Speaker B: Oh, oh, oh. I had to introduce myself to, like, my larger team. So, like, I'm on a team of, like, seven people or whatever, and we all get together a lot, but, like, we're on under, like, one umbrella, like, one HR officer. And so we have meetings with him every two weeks to, like, talk about, like, bigger issues, whatever. And he was like, oh, I actually, like, want you guys to introduce yourselves. Like, we haven't actually had a chance to do that yet. And so he's like. To say, like, where you're sitting, like, where are you coming from? Because we're all, like, DOI now, right?
And so it was like I was like, I'm nps, and I will always be nps. I am not doi. And everyone thought that was funny. Everyone was laughing, but I was like, I'm serious. Like, I don't know about you guys, but, yeah, it's. It's just one of those things where, like, I didn't choose this. I didn't apply for a job in doi. I applied for a job for the nps, and that's who. I mean. I do still get to service them, which. Which is lovely. Not the same region. I'm not working for the PWR anymore, but I do work for the Intermountain region, and so it's all new parks and all new faces, and I'm the main point of contact for, like, Grand Tetons now and, like, canyon lands and parks like that. So it is kind of fun getting to do something a little bit different because I've been with PWR for so long. But, yeah, I am forever nps, so I'll just be grateful for that.
