[00:00:00] Speaker A: Foreign. [00:00:14] Speaker B: Welcome. Welcome. Happy Saturday, everybody. [00:00:19] Speaker A: Happy Saturday morning. Dude, what's going on? [00:00:23] Speaker B: I mean, not a whole lot. We went to a concert last night and I still Woke up at 6am so it's fine. We're fine. Everything is fine. But it was great. We went to Goose, which Green sky opened for them. Goose is kind of like a jam band. They're kind of like fish status. Do you like or know a fish that like. I don't know. Anyways, it's like bluegrass music. But yeah, all of our. Literally every single person in the world that I know in Bend was at that concert last night. It was pretty crazy. And so Matt and I were just like, I'm not going to spend two to go to a jam band in my opinion. And especially one that I like, don't really know anything about. But like I know them and their music is great but like it's pretty poppy, like new jam band status type stuff. So anyways, everyone is just like head over heels for them. It was pretty wild to like see the fans last night. Honestly, it was like pretty nuts. But. Sorry I'm talking so much. But anyways, they. We ended up volunteering for. For this nonprofit called Conscience Alliance. I can't even say that word. Conscious. Conscious Alliance. [00:01:33] Speaker A: Conscience. [00:01:34] Speaker B: Conscience. Is it conscience or conscience? I don't know. [00:01:37] Speaker A: Anyway, I don't know. [00:01:39] Speaker B: I probably said it, yeah, 50 different ways last night because people kept asking what we were and like, whatever. But it was pretty cool. It was a nonprofit that was started in Colorado. Well, they thought it like the owner, founder, whatever thought of the idea from. From going to a reservation like up in North Dakota, I believe. But they're out of Colorado and they just like travel around with bands that they like have a good relationship with and they do this like fundraising and it's like donation based. But also they accept like non perishable food items for. In. For like a poster of like the band that's like designed by Conscious alliance. And like I did not know. Okay, this is another thing. I don't know if it's a jam band thing or something, but like everyone is obsessed, obsessed with posters and like, I just don't know. What do you do with the poster from a band of like a date of like, I don't know, like, I guess in like 50 years, if they're like still going like the Grateful Dead or something, like it'll be worth money. Like, I don't really understand. But anyway, so they have like specific art. So this is not like the band's like posters because the band also had posters. So this is just like a poster made with Goose for Conscious Alliance. So it's like looks different than like their band poster or whatever, but it's still pretty cool. It was like very vibey and like bright colors and whatever. So anyways, we were selling those posters and also collecting cans in return for a poster if people wanted to bring non perishable food items. And then we just told them more about the organization. So yeah, it was pretty cool. And we got into the concert for free. We got like the all access pass pass and everything, which was pretty wild. But yeah, we just got to do that. We did it from like before the show started and like through the opener and then we got to just like watch the show after, which was really cool. But yeah, we are just tired and so we didn't stay out too, too late. But we've been hosting and doing stuff all week, every single day, every moment. So we are a little tired, a little tie ties. So after work yesterday and then doing that, we did not rage in any way, shape or form. [00:03:48] Speaker A: We went to bed. [00:03:49] Speaker B: So anyway, how are you? That was very long winded for. [00:03:53] Speaker A: Things are good. No, I'm glad that you got to go and see everybody. Yeah, that sounds like so much fun and it's a good cause too, so that's really nice. [00:04:02] Speaker B: Yeah, absolutely. [00:04:03] Speaker A: Because you wouldn't normally go to a jan band. That's like definitely not something that I've heard you be really excited about in the past. [00:04:09] Speaker B: Yeah, well actually like Goose is pretty cool. They have their own nonprofit as well and so they travel like whatever town that they are traveling to and like doing a show in. So Conscious alliance like partners with the bands. But also this band specifically has their own non profit which is really cool that I didn't know that like bands were doing that. And so there's the booth next to us was like their nonprofit and like kind of giving more information about that. And so they were partnering with Think Wild in Bend and so they're raising money for Think Wild, which is a wildlife rehab organization, which is really cool too. So we got to learn more about Think Wild because I didn't really like I've heard of them but like they sponsor like some trivias sometimes and like they do like public speaking and whatever. But yeah, I hadn't really like met any of the people or anything. So that was really cool too and just like cool that Goose gives back to like the communities that they like go to play shows in and they just like want to be a part of that kind of stuff. So anyways, it was a feel good night for sure. [00:05:10] Speaker A: That's so good. Good. [00:05:12] Speaker B: Give me an update on. [00:05:13] Speaker A: You're really good. Work has gotten just like really focused on work and Waking up at 4:50 [00:05:19] Speaker B: in the morning or 4:45 has gotten easier. [00:05:22] Speaker A: So today it's gotten a lot easier. I'm not mad at it actually. I enjoy the drive in. I get to listen to like my podcast and the news and stuff. The only thing that sucks is like sometimes what the hell is up with people who live in Oregon going like 45 miles an hour on a 60 mile an hour freeway in the last lane? [00:05:42] Speaker B: Oh really? I feel like Oregon. Oregonians are pretty good about not being in the fast lane. Like that's such a California thing. [00:05:50] Speaker A: Yeah, they. But like I guess the Oregon had outruled or like taken away the rule that you have to like leave the left lane. So like did they really target in the left lane? I. I don't know. I heard that from a co worker so I don't know if that's an actual thing, but okay. I was driving to work on like Thursday and I was behind a motorcycle and I'm like, dude, you have a Harley or whatever underneath you. How are you going 30 miles an hour? This is a 60 mile hour road. Like, oh, I was so frustrated and then like coming in the afternoon is kind of a bummer because it can take like an hour. But I've been getting through a lot of my audiobooks. My husband and I started listening to Discount Dan. So like obviously the dungeon crawler Carl. I think I've mentioned that a couple of times. Yeah, there's eight books. I'm pretty sure there's another book that's coming out soon, but there's another series called Discount Dan I think, and it's something similar. But the guy in the book is not a crawler. He owns like one of the supply outposts and he has like, he franchises it basically. Anyway, it's really interesting. I don't know what a crawler is. [00:06:56] Speaker B: It's funny. Can you explain in Dungeon Crawler Carl? [00:07:00] Speaker A: Dungeon Crawler Carl say that five times fast. It's like post apocalyptic. Aliens come in like destroy the earth and put all of the humans into this like simulated dungeon, right? Like if you think of games, right, you have like different dungeon components and there's like layers and whatever. And so this guy is trying to quote unquote, save humanity or just like survive in this simulated dungeon situation with aliens. And all kinds of different characters and stuff. It's very done like Dungeons and Dragons. Like, there's a whole leveling system on different skills that you can get. And it's very. Yeah, it. My husband loves it because he's a big gamer, and it's very sarcastic. And it. The guy who does the audio for the audiobook is. He sounds a lot like Patrick Warburton. [00:07:51] Speaker B: Oh, funny. [00:07:52] Speaker A: If you're. Yeah. So it's kind of like that kind of vibe, you know? And then this other book called Discount Dan is similar, but it's a different story. So I don't know. He's just really obsessed with it. So I've been listening to that, and I'm kind of. I don't know if you have any opinions about this, but, like, Sarah J. Mass or whatever. [00:08:11] Speaker B: Yeah. She's coming out two new books. [00:08:14] Speaker A: I know. And so I'm like, really want to spend the time. I haven't read all of the books because, like, I have a life. [00:08:22] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:08:24] Speaker A: But I'm very familiar with, like, the first two books. So do I actually spend the time to get invested and then read the next two books? [00:08:33] Speaker B: So funny that you bring this up. [00:08:36] Speaker A: Yeah, sorry, go ahead. [00:08:37] Speaker B: Was so bad. No, you're so right. [00:08:39] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:08:39] Speaker B: Heather was just. She hasn't read them before, and she just got her hands on them, and so she was obsessed with them. And so she was, like, talking about it when. When she was here, and she just got to the third book and she's like, I heard, like, maybe you have the fourth and the fifth book. And I was like, oh, yeah, I totally do. And then I looked and I was like, oh, no, I must have, like, passed them on or something. You know, we just, like, all were reading them at, like, the same time kind of, and everyone was passing them around, so I didn't purchase any of them, by the way. But, yeah, I definitely read them all. But yeah, so she hasn't read the fourth or fifth, but she was, like, very invested in her reading it and, like, reminding me of, like, what was happening. I was like, oh, yeah, it is, like, pretty. Like, it is good. Like, it's ridiculous. And if you just think about it in that realm, I think it is good. I am very curious to see. Oh. So I was like. I meant to tell her. I was like, did you see. Because I don't know if she has social media. But anyways, yeah, I saw that. Literally when we were, like, talking about it, like, I saw it pop up on my feed, so I meant to message her about it. But anyways, I'm very curious to see what they will be like. Did you read like, what. Yes, they're about? [00:09:43] Speaker A: Well, I've been watching because I was on Tick Tock this morning, kind of researching our topic. So I'm. I'm interested to see how she's going to like pull it all together because there are some theories around Aylin from Throne of Glass coming into the like Court of. I don't even know the name of the book, but like coming into this universe with Era and Rhys and then Bryce from Crescent City also has the ability to walk with between different worlds. So like, I don't know if she's planning this whole Marvel universe jumping different, you know, things like that. So it could be interesting to see how she puts all that together. But like I. How do I say this? Those books are so. They just demand so much from you, your time. You have to like invest in figuring out all the various characters and. And it's not something that you can like pick up and just consume willy nilly, you know what I mean? [00:10:41] Speaker B: Oh, funny. [00:10:42] Speaker A: I kind of feel a lot of effort. [00:10:44] Speaker B: Like, I do think the Crescent City series was like that. I didn't ever read Throne of Glass, so take this with a grain of salt, but I do think the Court of Thorn and Roses series was kind of like that. Like, I was not very invested at all. Besides, just like, like, if you were to ask me like a trivia question about any of the books, I would not know. Yeah, like, it was like super fast, just like getting through kind of read. I feel like if you did want to get very invested, you could get into like the nitty gritty and stuff. And Heather and I were talking about that as well. But yeah, she's like, I, like, she was just telling me, she was like, if you were to ask me like, what is happening, I could tell you. But like, other than that, I just like know the general gist of like what I'm reading. I'm like exactly like it's just like one of those like flippers, you know? I don't know. [00:11:27] Speaker A: Yeah, it doesn't really feel like a big payoff from like a political. [00:11:31] Speaker B: Right. [00:11:31] Speaker A: Drama sense. Yeah, it. And like a lot of this quote unquote surprises weren't really surprising. So I don't know, it just feels a little like juvenile, I guess, for [00:11:42] Speaker B: lack of a better word. [00:11:45] Speaker A: It's not juvenile whatsoever because like, obviously there's a lot of smutty smut smut in that book, but it Just doesn't feel like the stakes are as high as some of the other trilogies or like the other big epic stories that I have spent the time and felt like it was worth to do. Anyway, so I'm going through that on my, my drives home and that's been really nice. Just like, catch up on all my podcasts. I feel like I'm actually getting through podcasts, which is kind of nice. [00:12:15] Speaker B: Oh, cool. [00:12:16] Speaker A: But yeah, I love my. My job. My job is so, like, demanding from an intellectual standpoint that, like, I hadn't gotten my previous role. So I'm just feeling, like, revitalized about my career, if you will, and, like, revitalized about the things that I'm learning. My team is fabulous. They're all so helpful. There's an individual that I work with and she's like, I see you and me, I want you to be really successful. So we're just gonna like, do offhand mentorship and training. So I'm really, really enjoying it. And I have my final quote, unquote assessment on Monday, and then I start building my book and like, getting in front of and stuff. So. [00:12:56] Speaker B: Okay, so what does the assessment entail? Like, just with your work people? [00:13:01] Speaker A: Yeah, there's quite a bit that we do to educate clients on, like, the mechanics of their investments, the different types of accounts, how to think about behavioral investment, investing. So it's just some, like, educational curriculum, if you will. And I need to make sure that I can. Not only can I absorb the curriculum, I can communicate it appropriately, and that's the assessment. So I sit into a room and we kind of talk about what's going on in the market. They mock out, like a client question. So, you know, talking a little bit about where the market's today and what's been happening and kind of how we think and forecast in the future, how we talk about AI and these different types of IPO companies and how that's not. It's more speculative, you know, long term and things like that. So, yeah, I just feel. [00:13:47] Speaker B: Are you nervous more? Not really nervous. [00:13:51] Speaker A: I think comfortable. [00:13:52] Speaker B: Okay, that's exciting. [00:13:53] Speaker A: I've been really good about, like, passing my test on the first time. I've been passing all of my assessments on the first time. Like, even my boss yesterday was like, I. We're moving so fast through the process, but I have a lot of confidence in you. Like, I'm not really worried about the pace because you keep showing up and exceeding our expectations. So, like, getting you ramped up is only going to help the team that much faster. So, yeah, I'm not really nervous on Monday. I do have to sit down with, like, the big boss man, and he's been known to be a little tougher, so I'm a little nervous about that. But I'm gonna spend some time tomorrow and, like, work on my language and the tone, so I think I'll be okay. [00:14:36] Speaker B: Yeah, you're gonna. Stuff like that. [00:14:39] Speaker A: Yeah, exactly. So I'm hoping that it'll be okay. I'm sure it will be. But, yeah, I, like, really don't mind the idea of working at this company until I, like, retire because they've got good benefits, they've got a great team. I could totally, like, move up in different directions if I wanted to. The routine of getting up early and being done by three o' clock is very nice. Yeah, I like, look up at and just pay attention to the time. And it's already like 11:30 and I'm like, oh, great. I'm only gonna be here for like, three and a half more hours. [00:15:10] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:15:10] Speaker A: So it's been going really well. [00:15:13] Speaker B: Anyway, do you have to, like, in your previous role as a recruiter, you were like, there and, like, taking calls, like, 6:00pm, 7:00pm, like, just based on, like, people's availability, I'm guessing. Do you have to do that? Like, do you have, like, a scheduled, or will it look different when you, like, have your own book and, like, scheduling things and stuff? Like. Or will you always have, like, that flexibility of, like, getting off at 3pm? [00:15:34] Speaker A: I will always get off at 3pm because I'm salaried. So I. If I were to work beyond that, like, let's just say the, you know, something happens and the market tanks and people want to talk to me really late at night. All of my clients are in the UK too, so, like, 3 o', clock, it's 10 or 11 o' clock at night, their time. So, like, if for whatever reason they needed me to stay later, I get paid overtime. So that is also nice. But the nice thing about this, I've never had a role where, like, I literally can't. I don't have access to my work from home. They don't have anything on my phone. So if I walk away from my desk, like, I'm off. I. You know, nobody's gonna call me. [00:16:15] Speaker B: Nobody. So. Nice. [00:16:16] Speaker A: Urgent. Yeah, it's really nice to, like, disconnect at the end of the day. So. Yeah, I'm really enjoying it. I don't know. [00:16:23] Speaker B: Cool. [00:16:23] Speaker A: I'm. I'm feeling a little bit Less dower about my career prospects as opposed to like, you know, a year and a half ago or whatever. [00:16:32] Speaker B: Totally. I feel good. Oh, that's so nice. I'm so excited for you. [00:16:37] Speaker A: Thank you. Cool. I got a text from Lindsay, like, I think around her birthday when I sent her a message and she was like, congratulations on your test. And you've been working so hard and it just feels really sweet to have people reach out to me and. And give me thanks and praise. So. [00:16:52] Speaker B: I love my community. [00:16:52] Speaker A: I love you guys. [00:16:54] Speaker B: Yeah, absolutely. [00:16:55] Speaker A: Anyway, and the sake or, you know, do you want to talk about your job or just want to skip it? [00:17:02] Speaker B: Oh, we don't have to talk about my job. No, it's not exciting or. Yeah, I mean, nothing really new to report. Yeah. We are just had going straight forward to like summer season recruitment. So we're just. Yeah, I mean, we'll see. We have like our open period right now through October and then we start announcing things in October, which is crazy. So. [00:17:27] Speaker A: I know. [00:17:27] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:17:28] Speaker A: October turn around any minute. We're in September. [00:17:32] Speaker B: How is August over? It's so crazy. Like, I. I know, I know you're excited about it, but I cannot believe it. It was also exciting. On Thursday it was 98 degrees here, which is like, it hasn't hit 100 yet this year. But like, that is hot for. I don't know how that happened, but anyways. Yeah, we're still like in the thick of it for like heat, guys. [00:17:55] Speaker A: Anyways, I'm trying not to be too excited about the heat going away because the rain, torrential rain, will be here any moment, forever and always. But I am very much looking forward to it not being 98 degrees and like hot and smoky because a couple like a week or two ago, I can't remember. [00:18:15] Speaker B: Yeah, it was really smoky there, wasn't it? [00:18:17] Speaker A: Yeah, we had a lot of fires going on. The air quality was terrible, so. And it's been really hot and gross and muggy. So I'm very much looking forward to the autumn and like, I don't know, I think this year I want to go berry picking or, you know, go check out hood and do some wine tasting out there. That would be. [00:18:35] Speaker B: Yeah. Wait, I do want to give a little update on. Speaking of pick doing like a you pick situation. So what happened? Like last week I drove to California after work on Wednesday, I drove all the way to like Humboldt county, which was so crazy. Wait, speaking of, do you remember when we went to Sonoma that there was this thing called reggae on the river? In Garberville. Do you ever remember hearing about that? Right, Okay, I remember. [00:19:04] Speaker A: Go ahead. [00:19:04] Speaker B: When we were there, it was. So we ended up seeing. Staying in Garberville. So that was like kind of like the takeout point for the trailhead for take like at the end of the trail or whatever. So we ended up staying there and like dad was there waiting for us to like pick us up and everything. So I like drove all the way to Garberville and it was like reggae on the river like that weekend. And I was like, oh my God, I totally forgot about this. Like, it's so crazy. It's also the weirdest little town. Like, I mean Northern California is so bizarre. Like I. The towns are weird, the people are weird. Like I forgot about all of that part of it. But I miss California so much. [00:19:41] Speaker A: I know. [00:19:42] Speaker B: Lovely. I just, I mean, I love. [00:19:45] Speaker A: How was your hike? [00:19:47] Speaker B: So cool. Like, but it was challenging, I'm not gonna lie. Like, it was definitely a tough hike because you're basically. So we hiked the Lost coast. If anyone, if you didn't know, but I'd never done it before. You had to get like a permit in advance and whatever. So we like get to the trailhead and. Oh also just to get to from like the takeout to the put in was like a two hour drive on these windy ass roads. Like it is the middle of nowhere, like so crazy. And so we get to the trailhead and there's so many people there and we're like, oh my God, like this is going to be rough. Like it's just going to be people at all the campsites because it kind of told you like plan out in advance like where you want to camp. Because you can like, you have to basically like hike a certain distance before like the high tide so that you're like your whole entire like hiking schedule is based on the high tide. Which is kind of of a bizarre way to. Way to hike as well. Because you can't really hike when you want to and it's kind of frustrating not to mention the fact that you're hiking like on wet rock or sand and like whatever the whole time. So we ended up. Yeah, so we ended up getting out there on the day we were gonna start and there was a ton of people. Literally we like started walking on the trail and then everyone just like melted away and like we literally didn't see like any people the whole rest of the time. It was kind of weird, I think. I think because of like the high tide schedule, people kind of take like, like 4ish days to do it. Like, they do like 6 miles at a time. Because you can only hike like six miles. And then that's when, like the tide comes in. Because the tide would come in at like 1pm was like the high tide or whatever. So there was like sections where like, they told you, like, you cannot pass at high tide. And so, yeah, anyways, people would kind of just like hike and then like, have a big lunch and just like sit and whatever and then end up camping, I think. Anyway, so mom and I decided to. The first day we like, had got to like, the high tide part by like, literally it was like one o' clock and we were like, shoot, what do we do? Because we're not just gonna sit here because it's not gonna be low tide until like 1:00am so we'd sit there until like, what, 5, 6:00pm? Like, that's crazy. Yeah, so we kind of just like hiked through it. And it's not for the faint of heart. Like it wasn't so scary, but like, we were soaking wet and just like, we would like, look at like a corner where there was like, no like, beach or like, anything to hike, you know, around. And so we'd just be like, okay, ready? One, two, three. Like, as soon as the tide would go out, we just like run around and like, try to make it around without getting like, pummeled by the waves. So it was like definitely like, inexperience. So we ended up hiking like 11 and a half or like 12 ish miles the first day. Because we like, had to get through like, that. Once we started that high tide section, we kind of had to get through the whole thing, you know. So the first day and we camped on this really cool, like, flat plateau situation that was like, kind of random because, like, most of it was just like jagged, like, like rock beach line, you know. And so we kind of found this like, place called the Spanish Flats. And so it's just like all. Yeah, just like a flat area with like, nice. There was a couple houses out there, which is so random. And they had their own, like, airstrip and stuff. Like they lived out there, which is so bananas. It's like so, so remote. Anyways, so we slept there. It was great. And then we woke up the next morning kind of early because we knew we had to get through this next section that was like 10ish miles before 1pm again. So we like. And it was so cool when the tide was like super low when we woke up that morning. And like, we saw this, like, dead seal on the beach, and there was, like, a pack of coyotes that was, like, eating it, and they were, like, running ahead of us. We were just, like, following, like, the coyote, like, footprints and stuff. And then we saw, like, bare feet, prints in the sand. There was, like, the tide pools were so cool because when the tide was so low, you could see, like, everything. There was, like, sea urchins everywhere. And sand dollar, not sand dollars. [00:23:31] Speaker A: Cool. [00:23:31] Speaker B: Yeah, starfish. And, like, it was really, really neat. And then there's, like, tons of, like, waterways that would come in, like, everything big, like, checkpoint that we were, like, hitting was, like, a creek, basically. And so there's tons of water, which was really nice because I was very nervous that we'd have, like, no water because it's such a low water year. But, yeah. So anyways, the camps were super cool. Everything was cool, but it was just tough. Like, hiking on rocks, hiking on sand, especially once you already got wet. And then dealing with, like, the tides and not being able to just, like, hike when you want to was, like, pretty bizarre. So anyways, we ended up getting through that the second day, like, that high tide section. And so we had hiked, like, 11 miles by, like, noon. And so we were like. Like, we only have, like, three miles, four miles left. Like, we're not gonna sleep here. Like, we might as well just hike out and, like, eat pizza and have beer. So, yes, we ended up hiking, like, 14 and a half miles or something on the second day. And so dad didn't know to come pick us up, though, because we had no service, nothing the whole time. And so, yeah, we had to, like, somehow, like, get a message to dad to, like, come get us. So, yeah, it was crazy. But we. I did the, like, whole satellite, like, text message thing, and then we asked these other people that, like, we saw on the beach when we, like, were hiking out. We're like, do you guys live here? Like, and they're like, no, we have, like, an Airbnb. We can, like, send him a message from our, like, Wi Fi or whatever at the Airbnb. And so they ended up like, taking his phone number and, like, going and doing that and stuff, which was really nice. But the satellite thing, he said he did get my satellite message, but, like, I didn't get anything back for him from him, so I didn't know if he was coming or not. And it was like an hour drive even to get out to us. Like 45 minutes or something to get from Garberville just to, like, the beach. Or whatever because it's so windy and crazy. But anyways, we survived. Mom was such a champ. [00:25:21] Speaker A: She. [00:25:22] Speaker B: Yeah, she was like, you made me hike so hard. But she did really well. So she only fell down on the rocks like, one time. And I got a ton of badass over here. Oh, no, it's okay. I just forgot California has so much poison oak. It's so nasty, so gross. [00:25:39] Speaker A: But I remember when my mom and I were driving up that way, like, a couple of years ago. Those roads are very windy. Yeah, they're, like, very remote, very windy. We didn't do. Obviously we didn't go to the coast, but, like, we did. There was a stretch of highway that was on a small sand, like, thing. And they do shut down that road during storms and stuff because it's like. Yeah, it's basically water on both sides. There was, like a reservoir or something. And then the ocean. And the ocean's not, like, maybe 50ft or 100ft down, so it's, like, very close. But. Yeah, that's such beautiful country up there. But Gerberville has some interesting characters. I just remember a lot of, like, river rat and people with, you know, missing teeth and stuff. [00:26:24] Speaker B: Yes, exactly. It is a. Definitely a funny part of the country. But then I didn't. I haven't been to Eureka and. Or I haven't been to Humble in quite some time. And so that was kind of like a blast from the past to be there. But they have an in and out in Eureka, and I was like, I have to get in and out, like, after we were done hiking. And it doesn't open until 11am and so I didn't get to eat it, but it was, like, very exciting. But we ended up getting. So we had extra time. So we ended up getting to hike in, like, Redwood national park the next next day and just, like, taking our time, like, getting back to bed. So then they came to. We all, like, met Matt where he was camping like, a little bit south of Bend. Like an hour and a half south of Bend. And so we got there on Saturday night, and then we all made it to here. Spencer and Heather made it here on Sunday with us as well. Yeah. [00:27:13] Speaker A: That's so exciting. So tell me more about family time. [00:27:16] Speaker B: Wait, tell me what you were just gonna say. Oh, well, sorry, Humboldt. [00:27:21] Speaker A: No, that's okay. I took my mom to the Lost Coast Brewery. Oh, cool. [00:27:25] Speaker B: Wait, did you know it's for sale? No. [00:27:28] Speaker A: They're selling it. [00:27:29] Speaker B: I know. I don't know if anything specific is happening, but they're Selling it for, like, 14 million. Mom was, like, telling me she saw it on something. But, yeah, if you want to buy a brewery, just no big deal, easy. [00:27:38] Speaker A: 14 million. No big deal. Yeah, I just remember having a really good time at that place. And then I think when my mom and dad went back, like, the next year, they went back to that brewery because it was. I mean, it's nothing special, but it is kind of cute. [00:27:51] Speaker B: But it's cute. And it's, like, downtown and stuff. Yeah, yeah. [00:27:54] Speaker A: They're really well known. So anyway, tell me about family time. So have you convinced your brother to move? [00:28:02] Speaker B: Oh, I don't think so. I think it's a little too busy for. For them. But they did have fun. That was the first time that they've been here in summer. They've been here for, like, Thanksgiving and, like, before. I think that's the only time. But yeah, so only winter activities. And I was like, it's a completely different world in summer. Like, there's totally different things to do. So, yeah, we did end up going to, like, a U pick, which is the start of this whole conversation, because you're talking about picking blueberries or blackberries or whatever. Yeah, we. I had never been to this farm. It's called. Oh, shoot. Well, rooted, I think, is what it's called. It was so cool. I mean, a little expensive, but I think that's just, like, part of the experience or whatever. But they're, like. Main thing is strawberries, but they. You can literally pick anything on their property. It's so crazy. There's, like. Like, just, like, rows of everything, like broccoli and squash and cauliflower and beans and potatoes and corn or. Yeah, corn and potatoes and tomatoes and whatever. But we went there, like, specifically to, like, pick strawberries. And so we got, like, a huge thing. And she's like, we're having a special because all the strawberries are, like, ripe all at once. So she's like, you can do 20 pounds for $4. Just, like, have a plan. And we're like, oh, yeah, we could totally do that. And then we're like, get out there. And we're like, not $4. So I have $4 a pound, so it's still a lot of money. [00:29:20] Speaker A: But. [00:29:22] Speaker B: And so we get out there, and we started picking. I know that would be crazy. We started picking, and we're all like, actually, we don't need 20 pounds of strawberries. Like, what are we doing? [00:29:31] Speaker A: Right? [00:29:33] Speaker B: This is crazy. But we ended up, like, just filling up one bucket, and it was like, 10 pounds of strawberries. So we have strawberries out the wazoo. But they're so good. They're like the good, like, California strawberries, you know, that you get from the side of the road. They're like. Like, yes. So good. [00:29:48] Speaker A: Super sweet and juicy. Yeah. [00:29:50] Speaker B: And just, like, tastes so different than they do from the grocery store. [00:29:53] Speaker A: What are you gonna do? Yeah. [00:29:55] Speaker B: So crazy. [00:29:55] Speaker A: Like, the ones that are coming from Chile or whatever. [00:29:57] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:29:58] Speaker A: We ended up making strawberries, then a [00:30:01] Speaker B: huge cobbler that night. So we went there because we were smoking our big Rick Thick Rick brisket. So Matt was working on that that day, and we all, like, went floating and we went to the. The farms and whatever. But, yeah, so we had, like a. Just like, an all, like, Oregon meal. We had thick Rick brisket, and then we had corn from. We ended up picking corn from there. We ended up picking potatoes, which was so fun. I love picking potatoes. And we made, like, a potato salad, and then we had, like, squash and. Oh, I picked a watermelon also when we're at the farm. So. Yeah, it was just so cool. It was, like, a very cool experience. I was, like, such a fan. [00:30:42] Speaker A: Barbecue with potato salad and watermelon. Sounds like very much end of summer kind of fun things. [00:30:47] Speaker B: Perfect summer. Yeah. But then I also took them to the Tumlow lavender farm, and I had gotten Heather something. She just wanted something, like Bend, like, for Christmas. That's what she asked for. And so I got her. One of my friends works at the lavender farm, and so I got her this, like, scone mix, and it's like a lavender. Lemon lavender, I think. Scone mix. Anyway, so I wanted to take her there and just, like, show her. And so her and mom, they. They have, like, a you pick thing as well. But so. But mom just got, like, a little dried bundle of lavender, and then they both got, like, face, like, pillow spray, you know, the, like, lavender sleeping stuff. And. Yeah, so that was really fun. We did, like, a farm tour that morning, and then we floated, and. But on Monday, we did so many things, but it feels like I didn't get to show them, like, anything at the same time because we didn't even, like, go out to the Cascade, like, Lake Sloop or anything, but we went to, like, the High desert museum. We got to see the raptor show, which I had never done before. [00:31:39] Speaker A: Cool. [00:31:40] Speaker B: So cool. And then we, like, went out to dinner, and we ate a bunch of different food places. What did we do on Tuesday? Oh, they went on, like, I planned this big hike, and I got the permits for it and everything. But my feet got kind of messed up on the Lost coast because I got like a million blisters just from, like, my feet being wet the whole time. And then I like, definitely, like, I'm losing a toenail. It's like, like bright purple and disgusting. [00:32:07] Speaker A: Oh, no. [00:32:08] Speaker B: So I didn't really want to hike like 12 miles on Tuesday for this hike, but it's my favorite hike in this area. And so they ended up going up and doing that, which was really fun. They went to Sisters and, like, did that whole thing. And so I was able to just like hang back and like, clean the house a little bit and just like. [00:32:24] Speaker A: That's nice. [00:32:25] Speaker B: Yeah. Which was lovely. And then dad stayed back with me and so we like, went on the super long bike ride because he brought his electric bike. Bike. So we went on a long bike ride and just like, got to hang out and chill. And that was really nice too, because just like, going non stop. I'm like, so not good at going non stop these days. I don't know. I'm like, pretty burnt out. [00:32:43] Speaker A: So. [00:32:45] Speaker B: Yeah, it was great. And then the dogs were here. Myla loved having visitors. She's like such a people person, you know, a people dog. And like yesterday she was devastated, devastated when they left. Like, Matt was sending me pictures and she was just sitting on like, the couch, just like looking out the window. And like every time she, like, wakes up, like this morning she woke up and she just like went outside because they were all staying. Mom and dad were staying in the rv, like on our RV pad. And so, like, she had access to them whenever she wanted. And so like this morning she wakes up and like goes outside, gets all excited to go outside, and she goes to the RV pad and they're like, not there. And she was devastated. So, yeah, it was pretty cute. She is, like, obsessed with all of them. Just like, loving her and being around and. Yeah, so anyways too. [00:33:32] Speaker A: So it was the doggos dog. [00:33:34] Speaker B: Yay. [00:33:35] Speaker A: Oh, my gosh. She had so many friends to play with. [00:33:37] Speaker B: Yeah, it was a full house. It was very fun. But it was also just nice, like, yeah, having like, life in the house and like, everyone was, like, making food and like, you know, just like all around, like, doing things. So it was really nice. But now it's so quiet. Like this morning, just before we started recording, Matt and I were sitting on the couch when I was like, it's silent in here. This is so weird. [00:33:59] Speaker A: But yeah, so fun though. [00:34:02] Speaker B: It was a. It was a really good Visit. It went too fast. Of course. I like took off some time. I had Thursday, Friday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday off, which was so necessary. And I came back. [00:34:13] Speaker A: That's a nice long time. [00:34:14] Speaker B: Yeah, I came back from work and. Or I came, went back to work on Thursday morning and yeah, nothing had like changed really. And I was like, why am I even here? Like I don't. They don't even need me, but I don't want to take anym leave. So. Yeah, but it was a really good, good visit, a good catch up and like nice for them to see Bend in the summer. It was like a little bit smoky. Not smoky, it's just like hazy. Like not that you would like not want to be outside, but you couldn't really see the sisters and like, I don't know. But other than that it was like a really good summer. Good visit. Yeah. [00:34:47] Speaker A: Did they do the three finger jack or south yesterday? What do they do? [00:34:50] Speaker B: Yes. Okay. They did three finger jacks but they didn't get to see that one. Mountain goats, which is sad. So I don't know where the mountain goats were, but maybe they said they saw another like group and they said they saw them. So I don't know where they were hiding when they were up there, but maybe it's because they had the dogs or something. I don't know. But that's possible. Yeah. But it was a great, it was a great time. I just wish we would have like gone to go paddleboarding. Like all the things that like we do on like the daily is like just go to a lake and like go paddleboarding. But yeah, there's plenty when they come next time. Yeah. [00:35:27] Speaker A: Now you know that you can like, how is everybody? And so like maybe next summer they can come back or if they want to. [00:35:32] Speaker B: Yeah. Actually I haven't been in my office since they left, so I was like, oh, I need to like. Yeah, wash all the sheets and whatever. I totally forgot about that. [00:35:41] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:35:41] Speaker B: But yeah, anyways, that's just kind of my last week. Did you do anything fun for. I guess since I've talked to you? [00:35:49] Speaker A: No, I mean like I've just been focused on work and stuff. But like, like, because I had Katie here for such a long time and then I flew to California last weekend was like deep clean the house. And so this is kind of the first weekend that I have time to relax and have a slow morning. Like I made bacon because my husband's obsessed with bacon. And I had coffee in bed this morning. I'm gonna do my nails. This is Probably a good segue into, like, our topic today. Do we want to let what we're chatting about. About. [00:36:18] Speaker B: Yeah. There. I'm sure you've seen there's, like, been a trend going around, and it's like five things that are worth the money. And so there's definitely, like, different brackets of it. There's like, people are doing, like, travel edition, like, food edition, Wellness edition, whatever, whatever. But I just kind of did, like, overall, my things are like, mostly like, self care. I would say related, but just because that was like the most top of mind thing. And I feel like I just like getting older and stuff. I, like, definitely feel like spending money on necessary things is just, like. [00:36:51] Speaker A: I don't know. [00:36:52] Speaker B: Yeah. Worth it. [00:36:53] Speaker A: Yeah. I don't know if I did a really good job of, like, budgeting in my 20s because I was doing well and I was making money and I had, you know, I had saved and I had done, you know, everything was going really well. And then I lost my job at, like, 32 and then spent the last, like, three or four years to try to figure it out. And buying this house is no joke. So it was kind of like a budgeting slash. Like, what do I want to prioritize? Because I've had to scale back on so many things. [00:37:19] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:37:20] Speaker A: I haven't gotten my hair done in, like, two years anyway. And, like, I feel like I've been playing this exercise of, you know, if I don't spend $9 a day on a coffee, like, how else do I want to spend my money? [00:37:34] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:37:35] Speaker A: And just, like, kind of. But I also my budget a bit. [00:37:38] Speaker B: I hate the narrative that millennials spend $9 on coffee. And that's why, like, we're poor. Yeah. [00:37:44] Speaker A: That doesn't make any sense. [00:37:45] Speaker B: I know what you're saying, and I totally agree, like, saving money in different ways. But I just hate that narrative of like, well, you guys don't have money because you like avocado toast and expensive coffee. And I'm like, no, it's because you destroyed our economy. It's fine. We're fine. Thank you, boomers. But whatever. [00:38:03] Speaker A: Yeah, 100. I would not subscribe to that thinking either. [00:38:07] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:38:07] Speaker A: But I only have five, and they're a little bit more practical. So. [00:38:12] Speaker B: Okay. Just great. [00:38:13] Speaker A: Honest about it. And then I have eight honorable mentions, so I hope that we can keep talking about this. [00:38:18] Speaker B: So I don't know. Okay. Yeah. [00:38:20] Speaker A: So speaking of coffee, that's my first thing. I am a, like, everybody knows me. I am like, coffee is my middle name. I have it every day. And I don't want to. I don't want to go to Starbucks. I don't want to go to Peach. I don't want to spend $10 on a cup of coffee. But I will spend just a little bit more on, like, whole bean coffee that I can get from Costco or whatever. And if it's good coffee and I have it every day, it's just. It's just worth the money, I think. So it's not like I'm spending a ton of money, but I am not buying the cheapest option that you can get. I'm buying, like, the one above it. And I'm very particular about my coffee. I like whole bean because I like to grind my coffee every day. Every morning, actually. That's one of the best things about Oregon and Portland. Portland's a big coffee town. Seattle's a big coffee town. So coffee and tea, I've been. I do like one cup of coffee a day, and then I'll switch to tea. So I've been buying, like, big, loose leaf peppermint tea or loose leaf. I have a black tea breakfast, black tea that I really like. So, yeah, I like coffee and like every daily thing that I have to consume that just makes me a better human, I'm gonna spend a little bit more money on. So that's my. [00:39:33] Speaker B: Yeah, that's fair. Mine. Well, this is not. I didn't, like, put them in any particular order, but one of mine also was in the same vein. So I'm just gonna say it now. Is my Nespresso machine. Best purchase. I will say it is pricey. Like, not the machine itself, but, like the pods and getting good quality pods. And I totally understand that pods are not a way of life. Life. But I love it, and I'm obsessed with it. And it's so easy. And it literally is just like a game changer. Like, I can have a latte every single day without having to go. And again, it is expensive for the pods, but it's way cheaper than going to Starbucks every day. So just thinking about it in that way, and I feel like everyone who comes over just, like, gets excited about it. And it makes me happy because, like, [00:40:20] Speaker A: it is a very nice machine. [00:40:22] Speaker B: When. I mean, when Spencer and Heather were here, my dad doesn't care about coffee too much. Like, he'll drink whatever. But when Spencer and Heather were here, we're like, we usually do, like, pour over kind of situation. And I was like, okay, well, can I make you a latte? And then they were like, yeah, sure. And then they were like, wait, this is so good. And I was like, I know, it's so easy and just like, so nice to have so. Yeah, that was one of mine. Was like actually spending money on an espresso. Nespresso was like the best. The best thing ever. [00:40:51] Speaker A: Yeah, I stopped doing because I have like this little Cuisinart scientific experiment where it does a pour over. But I've started doing instead of a whole carafe of coffee, I'll just do like a little. I have a Chemex, so I'll just do like a little pour over or whatever. But I do know when I go to your house and you have those pistachio nespressos. [00:41:10] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:41:10] Speaker A: Chef's kiss. Pistachio lattes in your kitchen are my favorite thing. They're so good. And then put some ice in it. Get out of town. [00:41:17] Speaker B: I know, iced coffee is my favorite, but yeah, my new favorite is there's like a strawberry chocolate one and I like it. Normally, like, I am into strawberry into chocolate, but normally I'm not like a fruit and chocolate person. But that pod. Oh, my God. [00:41:33] Speaker A: So good. [00:41:34] Speaker B: It's my favorite. Yes. [00:41:38] Speaker A: Okay. Because we're talking about strawberry. Are you going to. Do you have more strawberries left over from your 10 gallons or 10 buckets? [00:41:43] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. So we made a huge cobbler, and then that night. And then I didn't even freeze any, so everyone took some with them home. And then it took some to work on Thursday and Friday. And so now I do have, like a huge container still in the fridge. And so I'm just like, I either need to. I wash them all, but I need to either like, cut all the stems off and freeze them or like, make another baked good. So I haven't really decided what to [00:42:07] Speaker A: do there, but you should make some jam or something. Oh, my aunt makes it every year. [00:42:13] Speaker B: Wait, that's such a good idea. Okay. Yeah, that sounds great. That's actually something you'd use too. [00:42:18] Speaker A: Yeah, like a strawberry rosemary jam or something like that. Oh, my God. Chef's kisses. Sounds delicious. [00:42:24] Speaker B: Yum. [00:42:25] Speaker A: Yeah, that's a good one. Okay, my next one. Again, it's going to be more practical, like, don't come at me. And I'm pretty sure you have your this on yours as well. But it's the Costco membership. Like, oh, that is a good one. I did not buying things in bulk, buying things from Costco. My gas I get from Costco and it's generally a little bit cheaper. A lot of people on TikTok, because I was looking at it in bed this morning were like, you can get an instacart and, like, delivered, or. Or you can get it walked out to your car, so you don't even have to, like. Because Costco can get a little zoo. Ish. Like, if you want to go. People watch. Some of the most interesting people are in Costco or, like, a Sam's Club or something like that. So getting some kind of bulk membership where you can save on groceries and gas and getting tires for your car or, like, getting window blinds or whatever, blah, blah, blah. I just think that it feels expensive in the moment. Like, I think ours is 120 or 150. [00:43:19] Speaker B: You have the executive one? [00:43:20] Speaker A: One. Yeah, we have the executive one, but I just made my husband buy it this last year because I was like, I've spent three years buying Costco membership, and you've benefited. It's your time. So anyway, it just feels expensive up front. But I did the math, and we. We do end up saving quite a bit, actually. So. Yeah, I haven't done any of the travel stuff. [00:43:40] Speaker B: Okay. It's so funny. I was just looking into that because, yeah, we're going. We're gonna go somewhere for Thanksgiving, and. And so, yeah, I was looking at using Costco to book our flights and see, like, if it saved you any money. I know for sure you save money on, like, rental cars and hotels and stuff with them, but I wasn't sure if they did, like, a flight situation as well, so I was looking into that. But that's a good point. [00:44:02] Speaker A: I don't know. I would like to do some more research on it, but anyway, I'm gonna put my Costco membership, which is probably pretty boring for a lot of people, but it really helps. [00:44:12] Speaker B: Yeah, no, 100%. That's a great one. Okay, my next one is. Is monthly massages. I know it sounds like, very bougie, but, like, I have benefited so much from getting a monthly massage. Like, I'm obsessed with my girl. She's so fantastic. But also, like, I used to get just, like, a kink in my neck if I slept, like, any sort of way all of the time. And I don't get any of that now. Now it's just, like, maintenance. And she, like, when I come in, like, sometimes I'm like, oh, I have a little this, I have a little that. But, like, most of the time I go in, she's like, oh, my gosh. You just, like, are so much more, you know, like, relaxed and whatever. And I Will not say that I'm like a relaxed person and I will not say that I'm less stressed or anyway in any way. So, yeah, I just really like can see the benefit and I feel the benefit and I like, my body just feels so much better. It's like game changer. Like, I am so obsessed with it. It's so perfect. Best money I've ever spent. [00:45:05] Speaker A: 2023, I think I got like a one or two year membership to like hand in stone or something. And I was going every month and it was incredible. Yes, that is definitely on my list. If I had an extra, like, I would definitely prioritize that. It's definitely worth the money. Yeah, I'm not doing that immediately, but like, I even got my mom and my sister on it every. It's like scientifically proven that if you move things around in your muscle right, like you get. It's just so much good. It's just really good for your, for your body. I love that. [00:45:35] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. Agreed. Yeah. So good. [00:45:38] Speaker A: Okay, my next practical one. Sorry everybody, I'm really lame. Is contributing to your 401k or your Roth IRA or. [00:45:46] Speaker B: That's a good one. [00:45:47] Speaker A: You need to be investing in your future. If you're not doing that, especially if your employer has some kind of match or whatever, pay yourself first. Like as soon as I get my paycheck that goes automatically into my retirement into those different accounts. Accounts. I don't even think about it. But it's absolutely worth the money. It's absolutely gonna like game change for people. So if you're not doing that already and you're in your 30s and you're a listener, go get off your butt and go open an account, a Roth account. It's not going to cost you anything to open it. You just fund it. Like, I think you can start with like a hundred dollars. Yeah, just go do that. It's going to be incredible and it will change your life in the future. So, yeah, contributing to your retirement, contributing to your 401k is. Is hands down worth the money. [00:46:32] Speaker B: Incredible. Okay, my next one is like kind of silly, but I just feel like it's been the best product that I've used in the last year or something. It's. And I know I've talked about it on like a Faves episode, but it's the K18 hair wash. It is so incredible. And I do get targeted on Tick Tock all the time. I don't know if everyone gets targeted for it, but everyone talks about it and literally like, like across the board, it's the best dry shampoo in the world. And like I am, I've gotten a lot better lately. But like I used to be like a once a week washer. I'm like a twice a week washer now. But like it is so incredible. Like it literally makes your hair feel light and fluffy and not, you know, because like before if you put in like the baby powdery type ones, like the ones that weren't aerosol, it would just make your hair look like, I [00:47:23] Speaker A: don't know, your mother's is like a little crunchy sometimes. [00:47:27] Speaker B: Yeah, crunchy and just like the color looks weird. Like. And then they started doing like, I don't know, your hair just looks like weird white and I don't know. And it just feels and. Yeah. And it's not like you can actually weird do anything with it. Like it literally just like stays still and like whatever, like way you brushed it, it's like still greasy but like doesn't look. Yeah. I don't know how to explain it. So I will say literally the best product I've used in all, I mean besides my skin care, which I am still obsessed with. But I've talked about that on a fave as well. But yeah, K18 air wash is like the best, best product that's come out in many, many years, I will say so. [00:48:05] Speaker A: Nice. [00:48:05] Speaker B: That's a lame one. [00:48:06] Speaker A: So you're still doing dry shampoo. I feel like my hair has to be like three or four times a week. I'm, I'm washing it which feels like a lot. But in a seven day time frame I'll do like one or two days not washing my hair. But then it's time. I can tell. [00:48:18] Speaker B: Yeah. Well, I think when I like heavily condition I need to use dry shampoo like on the third day. But if I'm just like conditioning the ends then I can go a little bit longer without using it. But yeah, I would say I still use it probably once a week or so. [00:48:34] Speaker A: Nice. Nice. Okay, my next one. I got laser hair removal a couple of years ago under my, in like my armpits, on my arms, my like upper lip. And you know, because we are all, you know, getting older and it's totally normal but like things like that I think think they were, it was very expensive. I think I spent like sixteen hundred dollars to get it all done and I went there for like six weeks or something. I must have done it before Mexico when I got married. But it has, it's so nice to know that like, if I, you know, raise my arm and it's big old thing of patch of hair is not gonna be there. Like, I still kind of shave and, like, keep it clean and stuff. But it's a. I just think it was really worth the money because it's helped me feel better about my hair situation. I'm definitely gonna go back and, like, do my, like, touch up bikinis. Yeah. And touch up as well. Like, if I can afford to do my bikini area, I think it would really be just, like a whole game changer. I'd love to have, like, my whole backside done and even my legs eventually. I'd love to get those done and stop shaving. It would be fabulous. You know, it can be kind of expensive, and I know that there are at home things that we've tried before and it didn't really work. So, like, going to the esthetician and, like, getting it fully lasered off, I think just, like, makes a lot of sense. And, you know, if you're like me and you're a little hairier, it can be a game changer. So, yeah, laser hair removal is just one of those things that I'm, like, glad that I did, even though it was a little pricey. [00:50:10] Speaker B: Yeah, that is also on my list. But I will, like, kind of combine it with some other things. But I will say, even as a not very hairy person, I think it's a game changer. Like, it is. I have been, like, just thinking about this winter how I'm going to do my armpits because it is so nice, and I hate shaving my armpits. And I honestly always forget. So it's just a thing that I would just love to have done because I, like, don't really have to shave the rest of my body now. So I just, like, forget about my armpits for some reason. And so, yeah, I really, really, really love, I think, a thousand percent. It is kind of expensive, but again, it is totally worth the money. But I will just, like, kind of couple that with. I think Botox talks is a thousand percent worth the money. It is expensive. I know people are, like, very against. I don't know. There's just, like, a group of people that just are like, I want to be natural and, like, I, like, want to know that I lie to you. Exactly. And I will say that I feel better about myself. I don't feel like. I mean, I know we're getting older and it's definitely, like, becoming very, very, very, like, apparent, like, in different ways as well. But Like, I will say that I just like, I like the way that it smooths out my face. I like the way that, like, I don't have just like these obvious signs of aging, even though, like, I love the sun and I, yeah, will do anything for it. I will also say in the same vein as Botox, like, micro needling is very expensive, but, like, very, very worth it. Like, it, it covers up my like, really like, big pores and it just like gives me a whole like, face refresh. It definitely takes care of like, the little fine lines and wrinkles that like, Botox doesn't really. Or like the places that I don't get Botox or whatever. I will say, yeah, all those things. Just like all the med spa stuff, Botox, micro needling, and laser hair removal. I've gotten them all done like, while being in Bend. And literally just like a huge, huge, huge game changer for like mid-30s. I don't think girls should be getting Botox like in their young 20s, which is like the girl who does my Botox is like a 22 year old. And I'm like, you don't need Botox. That's not what it's for. But I do think it is, like, it's preventative, like, for sure. And like, people just like, and just in myself is like, when I wasn't going consistently, like, yeah, it worked. But then like, if you don't keep doing it, like, the, the wrinkles just come back. So I will say that is like part of their whole plan, I guess. But I can tell a difference. Like just looking at photos of like my forehead from like two years ago, like when I just got it like once a year or whatever, it like did something for, you know, like a month. And then it would be like, okay, now you can like kind of see where I have wrinkles again. So anyways, highly, highly recommend. [00:53:01] Speaker A: I had Botox right here in between my eyebrows. Like my 11s and I got them them a year ago and it's still like, I can tell that it's completely different. Just kind of smoothed it out so I don't. Yeah, I haven't done a ton of Botox and I would like to do micro needling eventually. I am very conscious though. Like, I don't want to get rid of my laugh lines here. Like, these are. I think they're kind of cute. But like this, when I'm squinting at the computer screen all day, every day, like, no one needs to see these 11s. [00:53:27] Speaker B: I look like a witch. [00:53:27] Speaker A: I'm not into it. So, like little pieces like that, I think her can be. They can be a big game changer. [00:53:33] Speaker B: Yeah, for sure. I can just tell in my forehead because I always have had a very expressive forehead and I had like, deep wrinkles in my forehead when I like, came back from Ethiopia. And so, yeah, I've just been like, so cognizant of them ever since. So, yeah, it's like such a game changer for forehead situation. I don't even know what number we're [00:53:53] Speaker A: on now, but I think I'm on my last one. And then I have a bunch of honorable mentions too. Too cool. So I feel like a lot of people talked about this during when I was like, researching it on Tick Tock. But I think it's really accurate or something that I. I really take to heart. It's dental care. I haven't been to the dentist in a bit, so I, like, need to get my butt back in the chair. And I have mixed feelings about the dentist. I like how, you know, I come out and I feel very clean. But I don't love having people's fingers in my mouth. Like, I just really don't enjoy people being that close to me and breathing on me me. They usually are really good about wearing masks, but it's still like coffee breath is a thing. [00:54:32] Speaker B: I don't know. [00:54:32] Speaker A: It's just gross. And halitosis is very much one of my biggest pet peeves. [00:54:35] Speaker B: Oh, my God. [00:54:38] Speaker A: Washing the back of your thick. Your tongue and anyway, so I use Crest whitening strips. I'm a coffee drinker. I drink coffee every day. I definitely have, like a little yellow tinge to my teeth and that's kind of my. I'm gonna call it my war wound or like my battle scar. I'm just gonna carry that with some pride because coffee is kind of in my soul. But I do do the Crest whitening strips at least like once. [00:55:00] Speaker B: Or maybe those are totally worth the money. I agree with that. [00:55:04] Speaker A: And they're very expensive. [00:55:06] Speaker B: So I started. [00:55:06] Speaker A: And I have very sensitive teeth, so I started cutting them in half so to like, make them last a little bit longer. So rather than like folding it on both ends of my teeth, I just do the outsides. They've been lasting a lot longer. They still work. Work the same. And I find that I will probably have to go and get, like, professional whitening done eventually in my life. But if I can delay that as much as possible, then I think I'll be better off. And I think, like, the Crest regiment is helping that so getting your teeth done. My husband has, like, terrible teeth, so I keep telling him to, like, go to the dentist. They quoted us, like, 20 grand to, like, fix his whole mouth and put, like, teeth where it's missing and, you know, whatever. So it's crazy expensive. But, yeah, if you're in a professional setting or, like, how you make a first. Like, a first impression, it's all about your smile and your teeth. So I just think that that's, like, something that's worth the money in the long. [00:56:06] Speaker B: Totally. Yeah. I'm with you. That's a good one. [00:56:09] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:56:10] Speaker B: That's my last. My last. [00:56:11] Speaker A: Go ahead. [00:56:11] Speaker B: My last one is, like, kind of silly, but I just think live music is, like, totally worth the money, like, even for a band. Like, I was thinking about this last night when we were at the concert, and I added it to my list last night, but it's just, like, so crazy. And, like, I feel this way about a lot of bands, but just, like, seeing the people and, like, how happy they were and just, like, everyone is vibing everyone's friends, everyone's dancing. Like, everyone's so happy and just, like, so excited to be there, and it's just, like, such a good vibe. And I will say, like, I do not understand people who don't like live music, and I will say that concerts have gotten stupid expensive. But I do think that if it brings you joy, that it's definitely worth the money. And, yeah, I just, like, love our venue here in Bend so much. Hayden Homes is just, like, so special, and we're very lucky to have it just, like, right on the water and, like, the option to, like, sit outside and listen or, like, sit on the water and listen. And, yeah, I just, like, think that live music is such a different vibe than just, like, listening to it via Spotify or whatever. And I definitely think that seeing your favorite band live is just, like, such a good experience and just, like, good life. Good life living, I don't know. So definitely happy. [00:57:26] Speaker A: It's actually on my list of, like, honorable mentions. It's like, memories because I didn't have enough on my five. But I do think that if you're gonna spend money to, like, go see somebody or do an activity, you know, you don't have to spend a crazy amount of money. But, like, that's what life is all about, right? It's your community and your family and making memories that, like, you can enjoy your time as a human on this planet. Do it young, do it old. Like, I think that that's a Big component of. Of being happy, celebrating your family and friends. [00:57:56] Speaker B: So. Yeah. [00:57:56] Speaker A: That's great. Oh, that's so cute. [00:57:58] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:57:59] Speaker A: Do you have any honorable mentions that [00:58:01] Speaker B: you want to start off with? I just have one honorable mention. It sounds kind of like bougie, and I. I don't know if I want to, but, like, obviously that's the point of this list. But I will say my honorable mention is already rv. It's just been such, like, a game changer in, like, packing, unpacking, like, wanting to go places, sleeping comfortably. Like, in the mornings. Like, we wake up and we just, like, pick up and go. Like, we don't have to, like, take the tent apart, you know, and, like, pack everything back up into the car and do the whole Tetris situation of, like, trying to get everything in there. Like, everything's in there, and it's obviously very, very expensive. And it's a lot of, like, maintenance and things like that. But, like. Like, it's so lovely to have. And just, like, the fact that we can keep people, like, have friends stay in there with us, the fact that Matt can take his family out, his parents out and stuff in it, just, like, being able to cook, like, real meals and everything, just being right there. Having a fridge that's full, having an ice chest full, like, it's just so easy. Like, going to the coast and being able to get all the crab and just, like, have them outside so they're not in the rv. I don't know. Just, like, so many things. It is very bougie, but it is really nice to have and just, like, so easy. And I can drive it. Matt can drive, even though Matt loves driving. But, yeah, the fact that I can drive it and it's not, like, super intimidating is cool, too. And, yeah, it just feels more accessible than I, like, thought it would. So, yeah, highly recommend. [00:59:22] Speaker A: I totally agree. Your RV is very bougie and very beautiful and very cozy and nice. [00:59:27] Speaker B: Yeah, it's the best. [00:59:30] Speaker A: A couple of honorable mentions from my side. Like, a bed with good bedding, that kind of. [00:59:35] Speaker B: To your point, getting a bed that [00:59:37] Speaker A: you really enjoy sleeping in that doesn't, you know, give you a crank in the neck or whatever. [00:59:42] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:59:43] Speaker A: Getting good bedding. You don't have to spend a bunch of money on, like, a. I don't know if you're gonna buy bedding. Buy the bedding that you want for a long time with the material that's, like, hopefully organic or, you know, whatever that suits your fancy. But bedding in general is just expensive. Like, you can't get is. [01:00:01] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:00:02] Speaker A: I don't know if. Because we have a king. I bought a king mattress during COVID because I was like not going to deal with Mr. Nasty Breath in my face on a clean. That's not going to happen. And it's a Casper. So like it's just a memory foam mattress that we love. And I. It's probably like the most comfortable position in my entire house is my. [01:00:21] Speaker B: So that's a great one. I can't believe I didn't think about. Because even last night we were telling our friend Bridget, she like hurt her back and we're like, honestly, the best thing you could possibly do is buy a nice bed. Like, yes, it's a second mortgage, but like it is so a thousand percent the best thing that we've bought this year. Like, it is a game changer. Like, yeah, it really is. [01:00:43] Speaker A: Especially if you're sleeping with another person in your bed. Like, you just need the extra elbow room. And yeah, hands down, that's definitely one. I like to spend some money. I don't know if I have a particular brand or like product that I love other than like the Trader Joe's Deep Conditioning Coconut Mask. But like a good conditioner because my hair is so thin and it's so dry. So getting some kind of like deep conditioning with longer hair is important and it's worth spending the extra money on it. Something that I do hopefully on a day to day basis. So yeah, like the Trader Joe's one is, is perfectly fine. It's very coconut smell. I think I've talked about that before, but I did just buy the bior. It's like this big white bottle with B I O R E, I think. [01:01:32] Speaker B: Oh yeah, Biore. Yeah, I don't know. [01:01:37] Speaker A: Yeah, Yeah, I don't know. I. It's in my shower right now. So I've been using that for the past like month and it's been, it's been great. I Deep conditioning kind of mask for your hair. Is that something that I've been spending my money on since I was in my twenties. And then just two more. A milk frother. Like if you're me in the morning and you like really look forward to your coffee, that's like the highlight of my day. Getting a milk frother, you know, up, leveling your like iced coffee or whatever. Just like make that little moment happen. It's not too, too expensive and it does require like three minutes to froth it up, if you will. But it is, it's very Worth it. And then the last thing. Kelly's going to laugh. I am a candle girl. Like, I love my house smelling a certain way, even after I've, like, pine sold everything and it smells like clean and bleach. Just putting a candle on. Or like, I spend. My husband and I really enjoy those bath and body works wallflowers that Natalie used to get when I was living with her as her roommate, and I've just always had them. I just love my smelly things. I love my lavender pillow spray or whatever. I'm just. I'm a smelly kid. I'm. I know. I'm probably, like, the person that you walk into the door and you're like, I have candle in my mouth. [01:02:53] Speaker B: No, no, no, no. [01:02:54] Speaker A: But, yeah, I am. I like my little smelly things. I like my house to smell a certain way. [01:02:58] Speaker B: So those are the things. Yeah. Incredible. That's a great list. I feel like we had some overlap, but not as much as I was, like, anticipating having, but yeah, yeah. [01:03:08] Speaker A: Proud of us. Laser hair removal. I was not expecting you to put that on there, but it. [01:03:12] Speaker B: Oh, my gosh, it is a thousand percent worth it. I've. It's also just been, like, so top of mind this summer because, like, I really want to get my armpits done because I hate shaving so much. Yeah. [01:03:22] Speaker A: So, yeah, especially in summer because you're, like, out in your bikini and, you know, out and about and doing things. So. [01:03:27] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:03:27] Speaker A: And you're wearing, like, shorts. [01:03:28] Speaker B: I just like. Because, Todd, I don't shower in the morning. I typically shower at night, and then I, like, get ready for work in the morning, and then I put on, like, a tank top, and then I look and I'm like, oh, crap, I can't wear a tank top today, like, because I, like, forgot. So then. Yeah, it's just been, like, so top of mind this summer specifically. But anyways, yeah, highly recommend bikini as well, because it has been a game changer for sure. [01:03:50] Speaker A: Yeah. This has been a bit of a longer episode. Do we want to just end on [01:03:54] Speaker B: gratitudes or do you have a grievance [01:03:55] Speaker A: that you want to get off your chest? [01:03:57] Speaker B: I actually don't have a grievance right now, so that's good. Yeah. I'm just very grateful for the fam coming to visit and hanging out with us and being so, like, patient and, I mean, it's just, like, a lot when everyone's under one roof. So, yeah, I'm just, like, happy that they wanted to come and that we all got to hang out. And I think it was good quality time. And. Yeah, it's just really nice that they all traveled so far to come hang. And I just love Ben so much, and I, like, want them to love it, and I think they had a good time. So. Yeah. [01:04:28] Speaker A: Good. Sweet. I'm gonna be grateful. This is gonna sound really stupid, but I'm gonna be grateful for my car. My car has been. I need to get it, like, registered again, and I gotta go do the whole DEQ thing. Like the admissions test here. [01:04:45] Speaker B: Yeah, you guys have to do that. We don't do that. I think it might be a Portland [01:04:49] Speaker A: thing, but it's a little annoying. And, like, paying for gas is kind of ripping in my budget, which I really hate. But because I am driving so much lately, like, 30, 40 minutes in the morning, an hour, an hour and 10 every day. Coming back, it's just really nice to, like, feel confident that my car is going to be okay. It's got, like, 90, 000 miles on it right now, and I have the RAV, but, you know, I just think that, again, it was worth the money. It was a little bit more expensive, and I even bought it used, but I've taken it back and forth to California a bunch. I've been back, you know, to bend a bunch. I'm just really grateful that, like, yeah, the RAV is really showing up. I've had her for, like, six years at this point, and if I do happen to shop again for another car in the future, which I really don't want to do for a while, I'll probably get either a bigger RAV or like, another Toyota 4Runner or something like that, because, yeah, it's comfortable, it's consistent, and I just grateful for. Grateful for the times, so. Yeah. Yeah, it sounds kind of stupid, but. [01:05:54] Speaker B: No, that's a great one. Yeah. [01:05:56] Speaker A: You spend a lot of time in [01:05:57] Speaker B: your car these days, so that's fair. Yeah, that makes sense. Cool. [01:06:00] Speaker A: Yeah, but. [01:06:01] Speaker B: Well, I think this was a cool episode. Hope you guys. [01:06:04] Speaker A: This is fun. I'm glad you got to catch up. It's been a minute. You've been just out and about. [01:06:11] Speaker B: Yeah, definitely. But hopefully we get on a little bit more. We're gonna be gone again this week. We're leaving on Wednesday again. But then after that, I think we're gonna be home for a while. We're gonna. Which is really great. I can't wait. [01:06:22] Speaker A: It's the time of the year that things get, like, slower and we have more time to record, so maybe we should do a better. A better process of getting prepped for, like, the summer months and get ahead of things so that we don't have a two week period. [01:06:36] Speaker B: Yeah. Post anything or say anything about it at all. I know. Just like, we were just like, dark. Yeah. [01:06:44] Speaker A: Ghosted. [01:06:45] Speaker B: Literally. [01:06:46] Speaker A: Anyway, okay, thanks for. [01:06:48] Speaker B: We love you all so much and talk to you soon. [01:06:51] Speaker A: Bye. [01:06:55] Speaker B: Bye. Peace.
