[00:00:00] Speaker A: Foreign. Welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome. Hi, everybody. How's it going? [00:00:22] Speaker B: Hey. [00:00:22] Speaker A: Hi, Keith. It's good. [00:00:25] Speaker B: I know it's been like a. It's been a couple of weeks. I feel like since you and I have had a chance to, like, sit down and do a full podcast slash, you know, update. [00:00:36] Speaker A: So. [00:00:36] Speaker B: Yeah. Hi. It's so good to see your face and hear your voice again. [00:00:40] Speaker A: Hey, good to see you guys. So I just need to give everyone an update. K Flare is looking like Steve Jobs today. She has a middle part and she has straight hair and she's wearing a black turtleneck, and I am here for it. She is profesh to the table. So just letting you all know, this. [00:01:01] Speaker B: Podcast is real life. [00:01:02] Speaker A: I want you, you know, I want. [00:01:04] Speaker B: You to describe my outfit and tell me if it looks stupid because I wore it all day today, and if it looks stupid, I might have to be shamed. Can you see. [00:01:18] Speaker A: Why? [00:01:20] Speaker B: Can you kind of see? [00:01:21] Speaker A: Oh, my gosh, it looks so cute. She looks so cute. And poly. Guys, she's wearing a maroon skirt. No, it does not look dumb at all. Yeah, she looks very profess and very adorable. And so, Portland, do you ever have that, though? [00:01:36] Speaker B: Like, I put on an outfit and I'm like, great. I'm trying, girl. I'm trying. Do you ever have that, though? Like, when you are just, like, nervous about looking stupid? I just. I always feel like that I always have to, like, ask my husband, do I look okay? Are you sure this looks like, not weird or my fat is not, like, you know, bunching up in the back or whatever? I have, like, such a. Oh, my gosh. [00:01:58] Speaker A: Oh, no. I mean, I do sometimes I think I like, I put together an outfit in my mind, you know, and then I put it on and I look atrocious and I'm like, how did this go so wrong? How did it look so good in my head? And it goes so wrong when I actually, like, executed it right. So I'm like, oh, my God. My body is just weird. Like, it doesn't look cute. Like, it would look cute on someone else. And so I get mad, but I don't. Sometimes I come home and I'm like, oh, my God. I was walking around like this all day. Why did no one tell me? [00:02:22] Speaker B: But other than that, that's my worst nightmare. I don't want to be like, oh, my God. Anyway, things are good. Life is good. It's just been really busy at the end of the summer here. I have been getting. Okay, I haven't told you this, but I think I mentioned it on the last podcast. I've been doing a lot of outdoor work, right? Like getting my IV up. I've been talking about it for like, what feels like forever. I got a yellow jacket sting. I got like five different spider bites. I got like 20. I think I counted it. It was like 12 mosquito bites on my butt. So, like, I'm just covered in animal bug bites. I'm so frustrated. It's so annoying. [00:03:11] Speaker A: But. [00:03:13] Speaker B: I was wearing leggings. Like, okay, I didn't think that this would be that big of a problem, but I was wearing leggings. I had like the knee high socks and then long sleeves. But apparently leggings don't really give you a whole lot of coverage when you're battling, you know, 18, 000 spiders who are trying to get up in you, you know, so, yeah, note to self, lesson learned. Wear thicker jeans. When I'm doing outdoor work and stuff, so I'm just like itchy and annoyed. So it's kind of where I'm at right now. [00:03:41] Speaker A: But damn. Mosquitoes are the worst. But a bummer. You have them in your yard. That's not good. [00:03:46] Speaker B: I mean, yellow jackets, like in the ivy. Really shocked that that was the weird. I didn't. I wasn't expecting that. So anyway, the good thing is I've made a lot of progress. Progress, not perfection. I'll update everybody on the socials when I have a minute. But yeah, that's been. That's what's been going on. [00:04:04] Speaker A: Oh my gosh, I can't wait to see it. I know. [00:04:07] Speaker B: When are you coming to Portland, by the way? [00:04:08] Speaker A: When. [00:04:08] Speaker B: When is this happening? [00:04:10] Speaker A: I know. Seriously. Not at least until November at this point. Maybe for your birthday. No, that'll be fun. We should plan something for your birthday. [00:04:18] Speaker B: Yeah, I'm gonna be in San Francisco from like the 13th through the 17th, but we'll chat about it. [00:04:24] Speaker A: Oh my gosh. Okay. Yeah, we'll plan something. We'll get. Get something on the calendar. I mean, obviously. Yeah, I want you to have plans for your birthday. No big deal. But I want to see you too. [00:04:34] Speaker B: Yeah, I want to see you too. But tell us about what's update. What's. What's your updates? [00:04:40] Speaker A: Oh, right, yeah. So I was going to be on the jmt, but that is not happening anymore. So I' and we're able to record but just a little like backstory on that was went down, there was a fire, like actively happening and it was only 13 contained when we like drove down. But we Wanted to try to. We wanted to try. Anyways, so we get down there and the AQI was like 1500. I've never seen an AQI that high literally ever. Like, I didn't even know the AQI scale went that high. And so it was just unreal. Like conditions were. It was like apocalyptic. It was so wild. [00:05:16] Speaker B: Yeah, Give everybody an A. What is aki for those of us that don't know what it is? [00:05:21] Speaker A: Oh, it's AQI is the air quality index. So it's basically okay. Okay. You shouldn't be outside like over 150, essentially, like for the normal human, like if you have a pre existing condition, like you shouldn't go outside like over a hundred maybe. So yeah, 1500 is like insane. Insane. Like that's like not livable. Basically. You shouldn't like I was willing to hike in like 200 or less, but it's still like not good long term. Like, you know, we're hiking a lot of miles and we're. There's no like relief from it. Like we would be in it for 24 hours a day for 16 days straight. And we just didn't know what like the shape of the fire was going to be throughout that time. So we basically had to make a hard decision. But there's also like, other factors as well. Like we had sent like our food resupplies to like, these places. They're called like resorts. Um, they're basically like backcountry, um, little cabins that they like have staff at that like would take your packages and then make you meals and things like that. And so those had ended up shutting down. And so they left because the air quality was so bad. But they did say that there was someone there to that would like, gonna stay until they got evacuated for like giving us our packages. But we were planning on eating like two of our meals at that one and then two of our meals at a different one. And so we're just like stressed about not having enough food at that point because we didn't have time, you know, to like go get more food and pack and obviously carry that much more food and all of the things. And so it's just like a lot of things that were like adding up to making it really difficult so we didn't end up doing it. And we made the hard decision to just decide to not. And we ended up going on a different backpacking trip in Yosemite. We did the Grand Canyon, the Tuolumne, which is lovely. It's one of my favorite backpacks in Yosemite. It's about 32 miles, and, yeah, it's just really beautiful. You hike along the Tuolumne river the whole time. The air quality was kind of bad, but it definitely got better, like, throughout the time that we were in Yosemite, like, for the week. So by the time we were leaving on Saturday, the AQ or the fire was, like, 60 contained or something around there. And so that was kind of a bummer, just, like, the fact that it was getting better, like, while we were still there. But there's no way we could have started hiking when we wanted to and get through the amount of miles that we would have needed to in order to finish the hike. Slash, we wouldn't even have known if we would have been able to see anything. Like, it might have just been miserable, and we would have just been, like, pushing miles for no reason. And so that was just, like. There's a lot of factors that went into it. So, anyways, I'm very sad, and Sam did such a beautiful job on, like, prepping all of our food. She, like, made these incredible, incredible backpacking meals, like, so good. Best backpacking food ever. So I'm just really sad for her, too. And she did so much prep, and she did a lot of work on it. And so anyways, maybe we have all the inside. We have all the, like, supplies. Yeah, I mean, we have all the supplies. We have all the backpacking gear. We know what we need to do for future if we ever decide to do it again. It's definitely not out of the cards for me. We just have to, like, getting a permit was, like, kind of difficult, so we just have to figure that out. So, yeah, if it happens in the future, that would be great, and I think we'll be very prepared for it. So. Yeah. [00:08:38] Speaker B: Yeah. I was just looking into, like, the updates on the fire that is in technically Fresno. It's 90% contained as of now. But, like, it's only. It's been like, a week or two since, like, they've been trying to contain it. So for it to be 90%, I still feel like that is not something I would want to be hiking in because it takes a while for, like, the air quality to get better. And they're still trying to contain it. They're still, like, fighting it. So I'm kind of glad that you guys didn't get into a situation that was, like, not great. So glad that you're being safe. I know that it's kind of. [00:09:14] Speaker A: Yeah, I think. I think, too, we Were just like hoping that like, we just wouldn't have known, like we wouldn't have service. Right. In order to like see if the fire is like coming towards us or like if it's getting closer, if it's getting more out of hand, if it's getting better, like we wouldn't have known because we wouldn't have, you know, any of the resources or a service or anything to like figure that out. So. Yeah, it's just. It is what it is. It is a big bummer. But actually I'm looking at the air quality right now and it's still like pretty bad. It's still like in the 1002s, 160 in some places in Yosemite and 125 down, like near Sequoia King. So anyways, it's still pretty gnarly. So I feel good about our decision. I'm like a little like happy to be home and get to just, you know, chill a little bit, relax a little bit. I'm taking one last week off work, so that will make me feel a little more secure and you know, just getting to have another vacation somewhere down the line. So anyways, that's the GMT update, unfortunately. Yeah. [00:10:17] Speaker B: So I feel a little bad for the folks that like live in Fresno. Ish. Like my sister and my family and then obviously your family that lives in Yosemite and all of our friends that live right there close to the valley. So I hope that everybody stays safe. I hope that you guys are breathing okay and you know, hopefully when the rain starts to come here in the next few weeks, it'll like really clear it all out. So that's good updates on my end. I am like three or three months in, I guess to my new career and it's going fairly well. [00:10:49] Speaker A: Yeah, you guys all don't know about her new career. She'll have to give you an update. [00:10:55] Speaker B: Yeah. So I have shifted into finance. I am doing personal financial planning. Basically what that means is helping individuals with their short term goals, long term goals. You know, there's a lot of like investment strategy talks, tax mitigation talks, different techniques and tools that I can help out with individuals when we're talking about like their financial plan. But I'm also learning a lot about these statistics. Did you know that 32% of the public, the US public, they're like on track for retirement, which means the rest of the US population is not on track. So if you don't have a financial planner, it really shouldn't cost you anything to like sit down and just get somebody to like help you organize your finances and at the very least, like give you some insight on what your Social Security is going to look like at, you know, potentially your retirement age and what kind of investments or what kind of savings you have right now. Now to just give yourself an idea about what your retirement's gonna look like. Because I'm so sick of working. Like, I can't wait to retire and I want that for everybody. Like, I want us to buy Commune and just like not deal with corporate America, even though I enjoy working in corporate America and working with people. But, you know, it's like vitally important that people take a look at their protection strategies. So do you have life insurance? Do you have disability insurance? Looking at your investments, are you diversified? Are you going to be protected against, you know, various markets, whether it's down, whether it's up? Because the trade war is kind of causing a lot of shenanigans. And you know, are you thinking about your taxes? Because, you know, if I'm making 75k right now, that's, you know, as a single income earner I'm probably paying between 22 to 24, but if I jump up to 100k in my income now, I'm paying like 34% in taxes and that's very likely going to be the lowest tax grade that we're going to have for the rest of our lives. So kind of taking that into account as you're planning for the next 30 years at least that's how long I plan on working. Can be a game changer if you have kind of a long term strategy. So my main takeaway is talk to a financial planner. It shouldn't cost you anything to say. Sit down and get at least an overview or a recommendation and then, you know, give me a call if you guys don't have a financial planner because that's what I'm here for. And we'll talk, we'll have some like topics in upcoming episodes we'll chat a little bit about. I'm actually kind of hoping this isn't, this is a little teaser for folks. I don't know if we're going to be for sure getting this individual on, but I'm kind of hoping that we do because she seems like a badass. She's a business owner, she does a lot in the estate space. She's going to, you know, hopefully talk to us a little bit about probate and some really important adult stuff that's, you know, everything that we should be at least Familiarizing ourselves in our 30s here on Candidly 30. [00:14:00] Speaker A: Cool. Yeah. I mean, when you said the fact that you're working for 30 more years, that kind of made me throw open my mouth a little bit. But like, I like, ew. Like, no, thank you. That's going to be a hard pass for me if I can avoid that. But you know, it is what it is, so whatever. I'm trying not to think about that right now. I literally just like have been off this last two weeks and it's life changing. It's so nice. And I'm just like, can't you. Why? How do I get all this done when I have a full time job as well? Like, how do I fit all this stuff in? Like, I literally don't know. So anyways, because you're not superwoman, literally. [00:14:37] Speaker B: As we all are. Can't wait. [00:14:40] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:14:40] Speaker B: Anyway, trying. Do you want to let the listeners know kind of what our topic is today? I'm kind of really excited about it. I feel like this is regularly scheduled programming again. [00:14:50] Speaker A: Yeah, you guys should know the drill by now. It is our October fall draft, so we are here for it. We got five things each and like regular draft pick rules. You cannot pick something that someone else has already picked. So you're going to have to choose, like, whose draft list you like more minor case at the end of the episode and we'll see what. What's going on. But I forgot, I think tell you we should flip a coin to see who goes. Okay. Yeah, what's going on? [00:15:20] Speaker B: Sorry, really fast. I have one more update. I went to like a women's networking thing here in Portland and it's. [00:15:25] Speaker A: Oh, fun. [00:15:26] Speaker B: This is like Portland Oregon Women empowerment or an entrepreneur roundtable or whatever. Oh, cool. I'm totally gonna go again. Like, it was really fun. All those girls were really great and they told me that they'd listened to my podcast, so maybe if they happen to listen to this episode, they'll get a little shout out because they were incredible. Anyway. [00:15:45] Speaker A: That's so fun. Very cool. [00:15:47] Speaker B: Okay, back to the draft. [00:15:49] Speaker A: We'll need. But we need a little like, inspiration for. Yeah, we need some entrepreneurship in our podcast, so that'll be perfect. Good job, cave. Okay, I have our handy dandy Abraham Lincoln flip coin app. [00:16:02] Speaker B: Literally her app on her phone. Am I going to call it out or are you going to call it out? [00:16:07] Speaker A: Okay, I just gotta press the button. Okay. Ready? You have to call it. [00:16:10] Speaker B: Go. Tails. Tails. [00:16:14] Speaker A: Nice. You got it. Can you see it? Okay. Yes. [00:16:18] Speaker B: I'm so. That Makes me feel really good. I feel like karma has been a little out of whack for me lately, and that's just a sign that maybe it's coming back into. [00:16:25] Speaker A: Oh, my God, it's coming around. Yeah. Balance for sure. [00:16:29] Speaker B: I feel like I have so many updates. I'm just going to tell you. I don't care. [00:16:33] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:16:33] Speaker B: At my, like, women's empowerment or whatever, the networking thing that I went to, I met a professional witch. Somebody who, like, has a coven that they meet at Mount Tabor and they, like, do fun, witchy things. And I was like, that's incredible. Tell me more. I don't know anything about this, so I'm gonna go check it out. I think they're gonna have, like, a meeting in, like, mid October or whatever. So maybe we'll come back for the Halloween episode episode, and I'll let everybody know, hey, I met with my professional witch, and maybe I'll get, like, a tarot card reader reading or something like that. [00:17:06] Speaker A: Oh, my gosh. That would be epic. Okay, I went to it. I went to a. What's it called? Not a mystic. [00:17:12] Speaker B: Oh, my God. [00:17:12] Speaker A: What are they called? Psychic. And. And so, like, I'm not a not believer, but, like, that's just a little hard for me to wrap my head around. But, like, you totally. [00:17:22] Speaker B: I'm. I think it's fun to just, like, go and. And see what the vibe is about, but I don't know if I would call myself a witch. You know what I mean? Like, good for her. She's a professional witch. That's very impressive. But the strangest thing was, like, she was talking to. [00:17:37] Speaker A: About. [00:17:37] Speaker B: Talking to me about it. And then, like, two or three people around me were like, wait, what? Like, there's a. There's definitely a group or like, at least an interest in people at my. Maybe I'm hanging out with the weird people, but whatever. Let's move on to the draft. [00:17:50] Speaker A: Okay, you're going first, so whenever you're ready. [00:17:54] Speaker B: So I want to start with, like, a cute outfit kind of goal that I have. I bought, like, a maroon suit, so, like, pants. And there's, like, a cute crop blazer that I brought that I bought. I got it at Labor Day for sale. It was, like, 75 off from banana Republic Factory, and it was great. And that's where I got this skirt. So I have, like, the skirt version, and then I have the pant version. So I'm gonna be, like, taking the maroon fall color for my suits, because I think that's cute. [00:18:28] Speaker A: Okay. Cute. Okay. You have to remember that the fall draft is, like, you can't take from other people. Like, do you think that is something that I would choose? [00:18:36] Speaker B: I mean, no, but. Because you don't wear suits. But I'm gonna grab it anyway. Basically, all maroon coloring clothing, I'm gonna grab. Okay. [00:18:47] Speaker A: All right. Whatever. Anyways, it's fine. Okay, well, I'm gonna pick a piece of clothing as well, because. But I don't think you'll choose this either. But instead of doing, like, Uggs or anything like that, I'm, like, into the Birkenstocks clogs. Have you seen or, like, the Croc Logs? I'm gonna take clogs for my. [00:19:07] Speaker B: I have seen the Croc clause, and it's still like nails on a chalkboard when you wear your Crocs. But that's definitely you. That's all you. [00:19:16] Speaker A: Oh, my gosh. [00:19:18] Speaker B: Our clogs making a comeback. Because I definitely have a pair of clogs from, like, four years ago. [00:19:23] Speaker A: No, they are. You should wear them. They actually. That would be so cute with your little skirt that you have on right now. Your outfit that you have for sure. [00:19:30] Speaker B: I didn't realize that Birkenstock. Oh, yeah, duh. I definitely knew that Birkenstock had claws. [00:19:35] Speaker A: Yeah, they're like. [00:19:35] Speaker B: Those are cute, though. [00:19:36] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, yeah. [00:19:37] Speaker B: I kind of like these. Bummer. Okay, you got them. Whatever. Okay, my next pick. You're probably gonna think I'm a crazy person, but I've been seeing a lot of this stuff on, like, the Runway because I follow a lot of stuff on Instagram. When I'm trying to fall asleep, I'll just, like, look at all the new stuff. They've been coming out with, like, suede trench coats. And I got one. They're so luxe. Yeah, I got it for a super sale on Labor Day, but it's so luxe. I can't wait for it to be, like, really, really cold. It's very cute. I'm into it. I'll send you a picture of it after this. But a suede trench coat is, like, top of the high fashion at the moment. I think it's having a moment. [00:20:17] Speaker A: So funny. Yeah. Someone else was actually telling me they, like, really wanted a trench coat. That's so funny that you say that. And I was like, oh, damn. But they were like, yeah, they're, like, hundreds of dollars. [00:20:27] Speaker B: I got mine for, like, 75 off. I think I paid 100 bucks from banana Republic factory during Labor Day sale or something. But, yeah, I'm I haven't worn it yet. As soon as I do, I think I'm gonna fall in love with it though. It's gonna be really cute. [00:20:42] Speaker A: Yeah, it's not quite that time yet, so you gotta hold off a little bit. Okay. My next thing is gonna be a food. So I have just been. I know pumpkin is the, the thing of fall, but I have just been into peaches lately. Like, so two of my friends have peach trees. I think we talked about this on another episode. Two of them have peach trees. But we, so we're like inundated with peaches, you know, so like, we just have so, so many. So I've been trying to like make all these things with peaches. And so my co worker and I have been like going back and forth. The one that I share an office with, who I spend the most time with in the world that I love, she's so great. But anyways, we go back and forth. I'm like making things. Like I made a peach galette and then I made like a peach, like kind of like a banana bread, like a peach bread type thing that was like, yeah, basically just peaches instead of bananas. And then she came in and she made like a peach coffee cake. And it was so, so good. So I'm just like peach. Like I'm not really a fake peach girly. But like, I'm into the anything like baked good peaches right now. At the moment I don't really love like a fruit pie, so I'm not into pies. But anything else, like, anything else baked. [00:21:48] Speaker B: Yeah, I don't think I eat a lot of pie. I don't like warm fruit. I mean, I'll tolerate it. What about nectarines? Like do you like a white peach, a yellow peach or a nectarine? Like what's, Ooh. [00:22:01] Speaker A: I do like the ones that are not fuzzy. I do have a nectarine, but I've just been surrounded by the orange peaches lately. So. [00:22:07] Speaker B: Yeah, you know what? I haven't eaten in such a long time and I've been kind of craving. It is a plum. I, I, My parents have a plum. [00:22:14] Speaker A: At Trader Joe's and I almost bought one and I, but I did. [00:22:17] Speaker B: My parents have a plum tree, so I just like very much amount. Like it's just ingrained in my childhood. But I haven't had them because, you know, who buys plums? Like, I'm not an 80 years old, but I am craving a plum right now. Nice. As soon as you said that, I was like, that sounds good. [00:22:31] Speaker A: I Feel like peaches are kind of like versatile like pumpkin where you can make them sweet or savory and you can like do the like nutmeg and cinnamon and like make them fall flavory or you can make it more summery, you know, like they're pretty, they're pretty both in between. So I love. [00:22:46] Speaker B: Okay, my next one. My. This one's. I guess it's just a little weird. [00:22:52] Speaker A: I'm. [00:22:53] Speaker B: I'm gonna try and make this draft worthy. So I have my sister in law, she's coming in for October. This is like her first time coming to our house and really visiting us because we always go to her. And anyway, it's just kind of a big deal. It's her birthday in October. So I told my husband I want to do like a nice dinner for her birthday. And I haven't done like a, you know, four course dinner with like a nice centerpiece or like a big whatever. What I want to do. I have this in my head to have like a cornucopia on the table. That would be cute. Yeah, I want to do a cornucopia and then I want to do like a little like a dry ice thing. So like in like the cornucopia with like a bunch of stuff for dinner and then bring out this like dessert with like a dry ice kind of aesthetic to it because I think that would be so fun. Have you played around with dry ice before? But my mom did it and. Because she, she hosts. But you know, my mom, she's just got all kinds of stuff going on. But she did it one year and it looked so cool. So I, I want to try and figure out how to, how to do the cornucopia. But also like this fall kind of Halloween, spooky dry ice centerpiece for the, the table. [00:24:09] Speaker A: Wouldn't that be. I've only ever seen a cornucopia made out of like bread. Like they like, you know, twisted the bread and then baked it like that and then they put like other breads inside it or like, you know, squashes. [00:24:20] Speaker B: And that's like British, that's like British baking show status. Like I don't know if I can do that. I'll try with like plating bread first and then maybe graduate to a cornucopia. I'm just gonna buy like a plastic one and just put a bunch of like stuff in it. But try to make it. [00:24:39] Speaker A: I go the easy route. [00:24:42] Speaker B: It's fine. [00:24:42] Speaker A: No big deal. [00:24:44] Speaker B: Okay, you go. [00:24:45] Speaker A: Okay. My next one is going to just like color peeping or, like, fall color people. What do you call it? Leaf peeping. That's what it's called. Yeah. I wanted leaf peeping. [00:24:58] Speaker B: I took a. It took me a minute to digest. [00:25:00] Speaker A: That one, you know? Okay. I just, like, want to do, like, a photo shoot in, like, the yellow leaves. So, like, where I come from, the aspens, like, turn yellow in the fall. Like, it's usually, like, really good in October, and so. But up here, we actually have an area that's, like, a hiking area. It's also called Aspen, and they. All the leaves, like, turn yellow, like, around the same time. But everything here is, like, starting to turn already. Like, yesterday, Lindsay and I went on a hike up towards, like, the Mount Jefferson up near, like, Santiam Pass, and all the, like, little, like, green leaves are turning red now. You know, like, all the little, like, bushes and things. And so I'm really excited. I feel like leaf peeping is in my near future. [00:25:41] Speaker B: I've never heard that before. You mean never heard of a leaf peeping? I have. I don't associate peeping with leaf leafs. I. Yeah. Anyway, we'll cross that bridge at a different time. [00:25:51] Speaker A: Okay. [00:25:52] Speaker B: My next one. [00:25:54] Speaker A: Oh, my goodness. [00:25:56] Speaker B: My next one. So, Haley, Dr. Mitchell, who was on a podcast earlier this. Just not just earlier, she has hanging lights, like, the candles, like Harry Potter. Anyway, she has, like, this really cute. In her hallway that she does every year for Halloween, and I'm. I'm gonna buy them this year, like, the little cheap things you can get on TikTok or whatever. So I'm gonna do them in my front dining room and then in my hallway to my bedroom so that we're gonna have, like, floating lights and, like, floating witch hats and stuff like that during Halloween. Is that cool? [00:26:29] Speaker A: Yeah, I see them on TikTok, too. They are pretty cute. I just would have no patience for putting them up and taking them down, you know, like, having them up for, like, one month. That's like. [00:26:37] Speaker B: Yeah. I tried to convince my husband. I was like, cool, you're gonna help me with this? He's like, great. No problem. Okay, how do you put them up? It's individually, like, with fish wire or whatever. And he's like, how the hell are we Gonna put up 50 of these? I'm like, it's. Yeah, it's gonna be great. It's gonna work out. [00:26:51] Speaker A: It's gonna be a pain in the ass. You should just make him make. Make little hooks. And so every year, you just go and, like, hook them instead of having to, like, do it every Time, you know, gonna do another decoration as well for my fourth. So I. I ca. When I moved in, it was like, Christmas time, so I got, like, a cute, like, cranberry, ish, looking, like, Christmas wreath type thing. And then I got a spring one, and then I got a summer one, and now I just, like, received my fall one in the mail because I've almost been in the house for a year, which is bananas, but it's really cute. It's just like, I'm not into, like, really decorating for any type of holiday because I just don't understand storing, like, I don't know where I'm supposed to store this. You know what I mean? So I just love having the wreath situation, and I just change them out for every season. But the one I just got is pretty cute. It has, like, tiny little pumpkins in it, and it's, like, orange and, like, red, like, fake leaves. So again with the leaves. I'm into the leaves anyways. But yeah, so I'm really excited. [00:27:52] Speaker B: Very. [00:27:52] Speaker A: Excited to hang out up my, like, fall wreath. I'm so ready. But I'm not gonna do it until September 22, because everyone knows it's the first day of fall, and it's not supposed to be the first day of September. That's so annoying. [00:28:03] Speaker B: I agree. [00:28:04] Speaker A: I refuse. [00:28:05] Speaker B: So I know it feels like you just, like, literally do fourth of July, Labor Day, and then bam. It's like, all fall, Halloween, everything. And yes. It just doesn't fit well with the way my calendar and my brain works because, like, October 1st is technically fall in my brain. My last. I'm. Okay, I'm gonna save that for later. My last one is gonna be. So I was doing the Head to Coast this year, right? We're, like, running along, and I was on this freaking highway in Scapoose, and we drove past this little tiny town called St. Helen. Yeah, St. Helena, I think. And they were telling me that they. In St. Helena, they had videoed or, like, they filmed the Disney movie Halloween Town there. So they always do, like, a cute little Halloween town. They have, like, a big pumpkin, and all the kids come, and it's really cute. It's not really a pumpkin patch, but it's more of, like, a downtown kind of vibe with, you know, a mercantile and all kinds of, like, really cute Halloween town things. So I'm gonna pick that one as my last. I'm gonna take Haley and her two kids, and we're gonna go and, like, have a little adventure around Halloween Town. I'm, like, Pretty excited about it. [00:29:16] Speaker A: Cool. That'll be great. Yeah, that's a good one. Also. Yeah, they just announced that we're getting, like, a sunflower maze, and instead of a corn maze here in Ben, which I think is really rad. Like a pharmacy. [00:29:29] Speaker B: I love that instead. [00:29:30] Speaker A: Yeah. So cute. Like, and also it's, like, kind of before really Halloween season, so it's, like, kind of fun to do something different. And then we have so many sunflowers in bed. They, like, thrive here in Bends. It's so funny. It's just so random, I feel like. But anyways, so, yeah, I love that idea of, like, just doing something a little bit different, you know, just like a little twist on, like, the normal trends and whatever we go through. Okay. My last one is not, like, super specific, but I just, like, am finding that I'm not buying anything new lately. Like, I'm. Everyone knows, like, I'm a good Goodwill shopper. Like, I find some good at Goodwill. With that being said, I did buy new stuff for, like, the jmt, but that's beside the point. But I think, like, sustainable, vintage and, like, thrift store finds are just, like, way more in. And I don't know if they ever, like, went out, but I feel like just I'm into doing all of that or, like, doing clothing swaps. I know I've talked about the ladies doing clothing swaps on here before, but. Yeah, just like, sustainable clothing and not just, like, feeding the man and doing, like, fast fashion or whatever they do it or whatever they call it. Yeah, it's just, like a new thing. But, like, with that, I think it's really funny. I was, like, reading a thing where I said, leopard is out and dalmatian is in. And I was like, Dalmatian 100. No, leopard will never be out. [00:30:48] Speaker B: In my mind, like, he's wearing Dalmatian. [00:30:50] Speaker A: And leopard will never be out. I will forever wear camo and leopard, like, 100B. So anyway. [00:30:56] Speaker B: Oh, my gosh. That was, like, such an Elwoods moment. We were like, whoever said purple was the new or orange is the new pink? They're seriously disturbed. Yeah, whoever says dalmatian is the new leopard is seriously disturbed. That is ridiculous. Seriously, I'm proud of us for not picking, like, all the traditional stuff, like the pumpkin patch and, like, blah, blah. Know you, you know, feel like we did a pretty decent job of, like, going outside of the. The norm with these ones, so. Good job. [00:31:21] Speaker A: Yeah. Hell yeah. [00:31:22] Speaker B: And now I feel, like, put on the spot to go figure out how to make a Cornucopia with bread. [00:31:27] Speaker A: No pressure. [00:31:29] Speaker B: It's gonna be great. [00:31:30] Speaker A: No matter what you do, it's gonna be great. [00:31:32] Speaker B: Yeah, I'm gonna love it. [00:31:34] Speaker A: No big. [00:31:35] Speaker B: That was a really fast draft, though. Like, we kind of zoomed through that super fast. [00:31:39] Speaker A: Oh, did we? Sorry. I was gonna say I have a grievance, if you want to do a gratitude, and we can move on to gratitudes and grievances. [00:31:48] Speaker B: Heck, yeah. I. I can totally be. I could. Yes, I can use more gratitude in my life. But go ahead. Start with your grievance, first and foremost. [00:31:54] Speaker A: Okay, so give me the tea. I mean, it's nothing, like, super exciting, but last night, we were at a friend's house, and we were making fish tacos for them, and I was in charge of the pico de gallo, and I was chopping a jalapeno, and, you know, in, like, you. Whatever. Okay. There's, like, two grievances in one, basically. So, like, you know, when you, like, see a jalapeno, it doesn't have any of the, like, hot marks in it. It doesn't look super scary. It's not super big. It doesn't look like. Doesn't have any in the indicators that it would actually be hot. It has barely any seeds in it. Barely any, like, the skins or whatever you call those, like, the ribs or whatever. So I, like. I'm like, okay. Like, this is a huge bowl of pico de gallo, so I'm just gonna put one whole jalapeno in there. Like, no big deal. And so I chopped this up. [00:32:36] Speaker B: It was literally, like, lava. I'm not even gon. Everyone was freaking out. Like. [00:32:47] Speaker A: It was just, like, funny, because when I was, like, going to chop it, I, like, asked the guy, I was like, do you like things spicy? And he's like, I can do a little spice. Yeah. Like, I would love to have jalapeno in there. And I was like, great. And then he, like, takes one bite of it. He goes, can I just get a little spice? I was like, oh, my God, I'm so sorry. Like, it was literally like, everything was on fire. Like, my entire face. Like, my lower half of my face was on fire. And I like spicy things, so I can't even imagine because, like. Like, the wife was like, I don't do spicy. And she's like, but I can't stop eating it, and my mouth is just. [00:33:16] Speaker B: Numb at this point. [00:33:17] Speaker A: So anyways, there. That was one thing. Like, you can't even tell if, like, a jalapeno's Hot or not. So that was, like, my bad. But then I, like, thought about it, you know, Like, I didn't think really. I was, like, trying really hard not to touch it. I touched it, like, very minimally, but. And I washed my hands probably 50 times since last night. And my fingers, my fingertips are still burning. [00:33:37] Speaker B: They hurt so bad. [00:33:41] Speaker A: And I, like, touched my eye, like, the corner of my eye, you know, it started burning. I was like, oh, my God, my fingers are still potent. Like, isn't that insane? Like, that was a gnarly jalapeno. [00:33:50] Speaker B: Like, maybe I don't even picked a toxic one or something. Damn, that's crazy. [00:33:55] Speaker A: But we were just, like, cracking up because the wife was like, I feel like we're all gonna have diarrhea tomorrow. Just, like, text. The first person gets diarrhea from the spice. [00:34:06] Speaker B: Is that funny? Oh, my God. That's ridiculous. [00:34:09] Speaker A: I mean, the tacos were so good, but the. Yeah, it was just so spicy. Everyone's like, I can't even taste the tacos. [00:34:14] Speaker B: It's just so spicy. Oh, my God. [00:34:19] Speaker A: Anyway, yeah, that's my grievance is that my fingers still hurt. They still burning like, the tips. [00:34:24] Speaker B: That is crazy toxic jalapeno. Were you, like, when I. I like spicy things, so I will usually naturally gravitate towards them, but when it's too spicy and I start to sweat and, like, my body gets heated and I'm crying and it's just, like, not. It's just not good. It's just not a good look. [00:34:41] Speaker A: Yeah. And your nose starts running and you're. Yeah, you're a little kid at that point. Yeah. [00:34:46] Speaker B: I mean, it's perfect if you have, like, a super bad cold and you're trying to, like, get that crap out of you. Yeah. But on a regular, you know, Taco Tuesday or whatever, I would definitely be grieved by that. [00:34:57] Speaker A: Yeah. I'm sorry. [00:35:00] Speaker B: Well, hopefully nobody had diarrhea. [00:35:02] Speaker A: God, I haven't heard. I haven't had it yet. So, I mean, I. [00:35:06] Speaker B: To be honest, I don't know if I would go out of my way to, like, Update my friends 24 hours later. Like, hey, I had massive diarrhea, so. I know. Let's just hope that people weren't dying. [00:35:16] Speaker A: Oh, we were just joking about it for so long that I figured someone would. But anyways. [00:35:22] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:35:23] Speaker A: What's your gratitude? [00:35:24] Speaker B: So my gratitude is I kind of want to be a little grateful for my body. I have been at. When this episode comes out, I will have been doing the whole 30 and I would like to do a whole 60, but we'll see about that. [00:35:43] Speaker A: I've been feeling really. [00:35:45] Speaker B: I've been feeling really good about the whole 30. I've been really prepped. I've been. But my body overall has just been felt so good, like to get the internal like inflammation down. Like my cheeks feel better. My body bodily movements or my BMS are like pretty good and I'm. I'm waking up with energy. I'm not like. It just feels really good to not be drinking. So maybe that's my sign to like be quote unquote sober. But yeah, I just want to be a little grateful for my body. Like I am 35 and I've been working out kind of. But the diet just seems to be like fixing a lot of the. And it's not that I like felt icky. It was just like I didn't know because I had. Hadn't done the whole 30 for so long. And so like doing it just checks in and my body feels like it's in a good spot. So I haven't been to the doctor and I don't, you know, we'll get. We'll cross that bridge when we get there. But I just, I do feel like I'm. My body's been very receptive to this whole 30, so I just want to have a little bit of gratitude for my body just showing up for me and I. [00:36:53] Speaker A: When I needed it. [00:36:54] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:36:54] Speaker A: Yeah. That's amazing. Also. It's just like, it's hard or it's easy to like take for granted when your body, when you're like able bodied and you're. You do all these things all the time and you just like think about all the things that are going wrong, you know, so it's really nice to actually just like stop and like. Yeah. Appreciate your body in the way of like in your mind and also in the fact of like feeding your body the things that it needs and nutri, like. Yeah. Nutritious foods and things that are gonna actually make you feel good instead of feel bad, even though, you know, you know, what things make you feel good and what makes you feel bad. But totally. Anyways. Yeah. And I'm grateful for you, grateful for. [00:37:30] Speaker B: All the listeners, grateful that, you know, this is like our episode 108 or 107. Something crazy like that. [00:37:35] Speaker A: Isn't that wild? Yeah, that is really cool. And I'm very excited to listen to the Dr. Haley Mitchell, you all should have listened to that by now. But we just had it released today, so I'M excited to listen to it. And yeah, we're just look out for more guests on the way. We're going to have more guests. [00:37:52] Speaker B: Oh, I'm so excited. We've got a, a roll call or like a roster of really amazing people that are like beautiful humans, have wonderful stories and we're just like, really? I'm excited to share it with, with the listeners too. So, yeah, just grateful. Grateful. This is a really fun little side hobby that we got. [00:38:10] Speaker A: Grateful. I know, man. Grateful. Yeah. For mom for editing and getting on that train and helping us with that situation. So, yeah, more to come from Mom. Also send all the edits that you find when you're listening to her.
