[00:00:00] Speaker A: Okay, we're going to turn up the game a little bit. Okay, bye. Hello. Hello, welcome. Welcome to Candidly. [00:00:14] Speaker B: Welcome Candidly podcast. [00:00:18] Speaker A: I will back. Oh, shoot. [00:00:21] Speaker B: That Vince and Sam both texted and let us know that they are in for our trip. So, yeah. Exciting news. [00:00:30] Speaker A: Oh, my God, that is the best news. [00:00:32] Speaker B: So ready all day. Yeah, thanks for texting also. That just like, lets us know when you're listening to it too, which is also the best. So we just love the feedback, you know what I mean? And Bali, 2028, I guess, right? Is that where we're. Is that what we're looking at? That's 20 years. [00:00:49] Speaker A: I think that's where that's what we're looking at. Totally cool. Oh, my God. 20 years. A. [00:00:56] Speaker B: That's next level. That's so cute. Yeah, that's wild. I cannot believe it. Right? [00:01:02] Speaker A: And here we are on our podcast, season four, baby. Just getting better every. [00:01:06] Speaker B: Every year. Yeah. [00:01:07] Speaker A: Like fine wine. [00:01:08] Speaker B: Literally. I was just talking. [00:01:10] Speaker A: Hi. What's going on with you? [00:01:11] Speaker B: My friend Jordan, we just went on a walk and we like hopped in the river and stuff, but we were just talking and I was like, 2027. Because we have some. 2. We have two friends that got engaged just recently and so they're getting married in 2027. And I was like, 2027 just seems. Sounds so wild. Like, I don't know, like, how do we get here? That seems so crazy. [00:01:33] Speaker A: I don't know. [00:01:34] Speaker B: Anyways, but I love that. But like, 37 is like, officially not like our mid-30s anymore, right? That's officially like your late 30s. [00:01:42] Speaker A: Yeah. Dude, we're like almost 40. Thanks for. Thanks for bringing that up right at the top of the episode. [00:01:47] Speaker B: Well, you're the one that said it. You said it out loud, not me. Jeez Louise, it's gonna be great. [00:01:55] Speaker A: Anyway, the candidly 40 is gonna be awesome. Or as we continue to talk about all of our candid topics, like turning 40. But that's a while away. Like, we still got plenty of time to mess with some stuff and make a lot of mistakes, which is gonna be so fun. Speaking of. [00:02:13] Speaker B: Absolutely. [00:02:14] Speaker A: Talk to me about, like, are we. So do we plan like an 8 to 12 day thing in Bali or do we do Bali, Vietnam and Thailand? Cambodia would be kind of cool. Like, what's the vibe for this 20th anniversary trip? Because I could totally be down with some, like, walking around, you know, spa vacay. [00:02:35] Speaker B: Sounds pretty person. Oh, yes. Ba Ba K would be awesome. I am down for whatever. I will say there might not be Enough to do on Bali for 12 days. Honestly, I've never looked into it. I don't know anything about it. I do know there's a lot. It's a lot of like chill time for sure. I mean there's some exploring, but there's not like, I don't know, it's a lot of beach time. So it depends on how much Wandu beach time. And then like Thailand, I would say in Vietnam have like other things besides just like beach and ocean time. Cambodia is very cool. I have been there and we did, I think just like the main town. So like, I don't know if there's more to do in the country. But yeah, Angkor Wat is incredible. Like definitely like need to do that in your lifetime. So yeah, I'm down for whatever. I will be in for the ride because I also am like so curious because I think I've said this to you before but like just for the listeners, like when we went to Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam, we had just left Ethiopia and we were Peace Corps volunteers still. Basically in our brains we were anyways and so like we thought everything was so good and just like fantastic and easy and chill and just like so cheap and I mean also expensive at the same time because we're still Peace Corps volunteers. But also just like the food was so good. Like we got desserts, we got to like walk around and be safe, we got to drink, we got to do all of these things that we just like hadn't been able to do in Ethiopia for so long. So it's just like hold such a special place in my heart of like being the most incredible place in the entire world, you know. But I don't know if that's actually true because everyone else that tells me it's like, yeah, it's great but like not life changing or anything. And I just like hold it to such a high standard that I'm kind of a little bit afraid of going back because okay, yeah, I'm worried that it doesn't stand up to the memory that I have in my brain of it. But all that to be said, I do think it is a very magical place. And one of my co workers are actually like my office mate, she just went to Vietnam in Thailand and she was like, no, it's pretty magical. I was like, okay, great. I love that. Like I'm so happy. But yeah, anyways, so that's just my thoughts on going back to the places that I've already been. But also there's like another thing about like Just going somewhere new or like not going back to places that you have already been. I. You haven't been. But like what if we did Singapore and just did like one city day or like Japan maybe or something. I don't know. I mean we're on that side of countries globe, right. [00:05:08] Speaker A: As well. Exactly what we can get around to. Yeah, I'm down all of it. Sounds incredible. I'm anyhow to shake some. Shake some shirt up and it'll be perfect in two years. [00:05:20] Speaker B: Oh, do you have like a bucket list of some place that you like really want to go internationally that you haven't been to yet or are you kind of just like rolling with the punches like whatever you want to come to you to come. [00:05:32] Speaker A: I mean I've def. Okay, so I don't have a lot of pictures in my office, but I do have a frame. My husband built me a frame during COVID because I have this like wall decal. This sounds so lame but I've had it since high school. My mom bought it for me. It's been a really whatever. It's a beach picture of Bora Bora or like Tahiti. And when I was a kid, my grandfather would always go to Fiji and like the Cook Islands and he would always bring back like really beautiful tortoise shell. I'm sure they were like, you know, souvenir and kind of kitschy. But I would. I'm dying to go to Tahiti, Fiji, Bora Bora and like hang out and check all that stuff. Stuff out. But that's really expensive and there's not really too much to do there either. So like as I'm younger. [00:06:23] Speaker B: That's what I've heard too. [00:06:24] Speaker A: Yeah, I think I would be perf. I would prefer to just roll with the punches and like go walk around and see a bunch of stuff like Angkor Wat and Machu Picchu while like, you know, I have my knees because 40 is coming up as we've discussed so. [00:06:38] Speaker B: Oh my goodness. I've always wanted to do the Maldives. When we've talked about that first like 20 years at this point. I know the like hot on water situation where like you get to sleep out like in with the fishes basically. Like the Maldives have been always been that for me. Not like Bora Bora or Fiji or anything. But yeah, just getting there. [00:07:00] Speaker A: Yeah. Get out of here. [00:07:01] Speaker B: Like I think. Oh yeah. It's like past. It's so far from here. Like you have to either fly to Europe and down or even fly to Europe, fly to Africa and Then over. Or, like, fly. Fly all the way through, like, yeah, China or something to get over. Like, it's. It's a gnarly, epic journey from here, especially the west coast of the United States. So anyways, yeah, I don't think it'll ever happen, but it's just so crazy. Like, everyone says it's just gonna, like, disappear probably in our lifetime. And so I'm just, like, really sad about missing it, but I also feel the same. I feel like I want to do the things that, yeah, I'm still able to do at this point in my life instead of, like, that kind of, like, chill hangout. [00:07:41] Speaker A: What do you think about Dubai? Like, hadn't really put a piece in my mind around going in that direction of the world just because we've literally been in war forever and always. But Dubai is, like, really popular now, and it's very. I would totally be down to go check something like that out or, like, go to, I don't know, somewhere else in that area. [00:08:04] Speaker B: Uae. Yeah, I would totally be into it, too. We. I have been to Qatar or what are they. How do they say it? Cutter. [00:08:15] Speaker A: I got you, girl. Qatar. [00:08:16] Speaker B: They. We were flying, like, Ethiopian Airlines from Ethiopia to Greece, and so we actually got to fly Qatar Airways. And they just have this, like, most amazing airline. Like, they're an airline that are. That is just, like, known. And I feel like other people have heard me talk about this before as well, but they're just, like, an airline that is known for next level, like, losing money on every single. They lose money on every single, like, flight. Yeah, because they're next level service. They have, like, great food, great, like, accommodations. Like, even the economy is, like, first class and, like, US Standards, you know? But they actually, like, do this thing where they kind of, like, have you have a layover in their country for, like, nine or ten hours plus. I can't remember what the time frame was. And so you actually, like, get free accommodations and, like, food and stuff for the, like, layover over that you have there. So my friend Ali and I, when we were flying back, we actually, like, we were tired because it was like, a red eye or whatever, but we. They actually, like, picked us up from the airport, drove us to a hotel, fed us the entire time, like, gave us a tour around Qatar, and then, like, brought us back to the hotel. Like, we had a rooftop pool. Obviously, it was hot as balls. Like, when I say hot as balls, like, I can't even explain to you how hot it is there. Like, next level hot. Like, Just imagine what that area is. Like you can't go outside. Like you literally can't. And so anyways, but they paid for everything, like just because we were on that airline and they wanted us to like, see their country and like spend money in their country, I'm assuming, and that kind of stuff, like tourism. Little did they know we were like tiny little Peace Corps volunteers that had no money. So we just like sat in our hotel room like in the AC after like a long vacation in Greece and just like went to the pool, like watch tv, slept a bunch, ate a bunch, got room service and just like bounced. But it was a very interesting experience. I definitely was like, this is something that you only get to do in like your 20s, you know what I mean? Like that kind of status. But anyways, all that to say is there. I would be very interested in like the UAE and just like. Yeah. The craziness of those buildings and like. [00:10:31] Speaker A: Oh my God. Yeah, yeah. And like all the historical sites and stuff like that. Hell yeah. It'd be super like, you know, I [00:10:38] Speaker B: have always wanted to go to Jordan and that sounds really weird, but they have just like these beautiful like, I don't even know what they're called, but there's like these crazy like canyons that you can walk through, like slot canyons kind of. And they're like white sandstone and they're just really beautiful. And they like built all these churches into them and I'm assuming just like stay out of the heat, you know, they're just like cool in the rock and stuff. But I don't know much about them. But I've just like, it's been on my list for a while and everyone says it's actually decently do a little safe to go there. And yeah, again, it would be pretty far from here. So we have to see how. [00:11:16] Speaker A: I mean, no matter where we're going, we're definitely anyway like flying and having to go in like a 8 to 10 hour flight. When we flew down to Peru, it was like an eight hour, nine hour flight, which honestly is not that bad when you're like talking about going to whatever. Bali, that's an 18 hour flight. Maybe. I have no idea. [00:11:37] Speaker B: Yeah, something like that. [00:11:38] Speaker A: What if it's been a minute since we've had one of those long flights? I don't really fly a lot anymore. [00:11:43] Speaker B: Yeah, like we're old now, so like we need all the, like the drugs. [00:11:46] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. [00:11:47] Speaker B: I mean, when Sam and I flew to Italy, I definitely. What did I take? Oh, I took like A Tylenol PM on the way there or something. Or maybe that was on the way back. I can't remember. Anyway. Oh, no. Maybe on the way back we were like on like daytime in Italy. So by the time I, like, tried to stay awake. So by the time we got back, I was like. I don't remember. Anyways, it wasn't even that long. [00:12:10] Speaker A: My mom went to Italy. [00:12:11] Speaker B: Yeah. One of the ways. [00:12:12] Speaker A: I definitely took a whole, like 18 weeks or some. Maybe not 18 weeks. She's probably going to be there for like a month and a half. But yeah, she got her like a. I know she's leaving in September. She's leaving like September, I don't know, ninth. And coming back like October 12th or something crazy like that. Cool retired life. [00:12:31] Speaker B: That's amazing. [00:12:32] Speaker A: She's so excited. She's been learning. [00:12:33] Speaker B: Is she going to visit Val? [00:12:34] Speaker A: So she's gonna go stay with my friend. I don't know how to explain her. She was like a foreign exchange student when I was in high school and. And she's like my sister. We love her. They're gonna go stay at her house and the private beach. And then she got a small apartment just outside of Milan, so that she's gonna go to, like, go to Bologna for the day. Or, like, she'll hang around Milan or I think her and my dad are gonna go up through, like go up to Croatia, but not take a boat. They're gonna, like, actually take the train all the way up and down, something like that. So she's like, crazy. [00:13:11] Speaker B: Wait, is your dad gonna go for the whole time? [00:13:12] Speaker A: No, he'll just be there for the. And my sister too, so. Going to. Back to Italy this year. So jealous. Oh, I know. [00:13:20] Speaker B: I'm sorry. [00:13:21] Speaker A: I'll be. I. I'll make my way back eventually, but I do. Lake Lugano would be definitely on my bucket list, too. I think I've talked about that before. Yeah, that would. That's right in that area. So anyway, and the Dolomites, too. Like, I have no burning passion to go do what you guys did. Like, it sounds incredible, but just to see them, you know, from a little bit of a distance, that would be kind of cool. Anyway. [00:13:46] Speaker B: Definitely. Yeah. It looks like you have so many. It's pretty crazy. [00:13:48] Speaker A: Gorgeous. [00:13:49] Speaker B: Yeah. I mean, dolomite, whatever. It looks like granite, so. But it's way softer. Anyway. Yeah. Travel has been top of mind lately. I've just like, really been wanting to go on a trip this winter. Fall slash winter. But man, money is just feeling really tight These days, it's such a bummer. [00:14:10] Speaker A: Got you. [00:14:11] Speaker B: The story is the same. I don't understand why it's feeling so gnarly. Anyway, so, yeah, I'm hoping that I'll do like. The plan right now is that Sam and I are going to go to Guatemala and hike the volcano and. Yeah, Guatemala's cheap compared to Italy, for sure. [00:14:30] Speaker A: Well, Bali. Yeah, all that stuff. No, that makes sense. That's going to happen in two years when we have enough time to save up for it and be adults. Like, responsible people being responsible adults. Such. [00:14:40] Speaker B: Not the business. Totally. [00:14:42] Speaker A: Totally. [00:14:43] Speaker B: We're gonna be responsible by doing it. [00:14:46] Speaker A: Sure. Maybe we'll grow up by then. Anyway, tell the people what we're doing. [00:14:51] Speaker B: No big deal. We're just gonna bring some faves at you. It's been a minute, actually. Honestly, we do want to address. We do want to address a little bit, like the elephant in the room, the fact that we didn't record anything from June 3rd until June 30th. We are so sorry. And I think we explained it a little bit on the. That we got a little mixed up on our recordings, and then we both just disappeared out of the ether, and so mom was just kind of left hanging. So anyway. But we have both of those episodes up now. It's like our labeled as, like, the lost epi. But, yeah, we are sorry and we're back in it. We're here for you. But today we're gonna do some faves. I just have some phase written down that I've had written down, and I kind of just, like, write things when I think about them. But then there's always, like, things that are top of mind that usually, like, come. And like I say before all the other things that I have on my list that have been, like, there for a very long time now. But that's okay. We'll get there. Do you want to go first or do you want me to? [00:15:53] Speaker A: Well, I want to clarify, like, did you write a bunch of what types of faves? Because, like, sometimes we'll do food, and sometimes we do, like, makeup and stuff. But I only have food. [00:16:02] Speaker B: Oh, nice. Okay, well, I have a food, I have a show, and I have a product, and I have a book. [00:16:11] Speaker A: Damn. Okay. You have, like, a whole smorgasbord of stuff. Let's start with mine. Okay. So at Big Ponderoo, they were so sweet. I need to get in my feedback, too, before the end of the day or Kayla will be sad. Okay. At Big Pondrew, they were so sweet that they had, like, this individual or, like, two people that were walking around all the volunteers and giving them, like, snacks and Lacroix and whatever. And they had this unreal chocolate, coconut, little cookie slash Almond Joy, but without the almond. And it was Chef's Kiss. I legitimately went to Costco and bought, like, the monster bag of them, and I've just been stuffing. [00:16:51] Speaker B: Wait, have you Had. Never had those before, then? [00:16:53] Speaker A: I had never had them before. I never knew about them. I know. [00:16:57] Speaker B: And then. You guys are so good. [00:17:00] Speaker A: They have all kinds of flavors. I bought a peanut butter one. Oh, my God. [00:17:04] Speaker B: So the Snickers one is the best, in my opinion. The, like, Snickers, that's the one that's, [00:17:08] Speaker A: like, literally CD it. I have it in my desk at my office because, like, no way in the afternoon. I've been up since 4. I need a piece of chocolate, and I've been lovely. [00:17:19] Speaker B: That's such a good idea. [00:17:22] Speaker A: Yeah. And they're. [00:17:23] Speaker B: They're just, like, clean ingredients. They don't have any, like, added additives. Wow. Added sugars and. Yeah. Unnecessary. Yes. Dark. [00:17:34] Speaker A: They're all really good. Yeah. It's very, very good. I've been. Yeah. Blew my mind. I was like, yep. Okay, well, that's definitely gonna be on the regular rotation because. [00:17:43] Speaker B: Oh, that makes me really happy. I've randomly. And this is so weird, because I, like, don't love M M's, but the unreal M M's are so good, too. And they just have, like, this. [00:17:54] Speaker A: I didn't even know that they had ebb. What? [00:17:56] Speaker B: I know they have, like, this natural sugar coating on them, and they, like, tell you how they dye each one, and it's like beets or, like, blueberries or whatever to, like, dye all the different colors so they're all, like, real natural coloring instead of all that fake bullshit. So anyways, they're just a really good company. We want to support them. We love. Okay, I'll do my. My candy, too. Because I feel like I just want to support, like, companies that are doing good and healthy snacks that don't make you feel like shit and don't make you feel like shit for eating them and aren't trying to kill us from the inside out by big candy. You know what I mean? Anyways, this one, I feel like I've. Maybe I've talked about them before, but this company is called Joyride. Have I told you about Joyride? Anyway, I might have brought it up before, but the new. There's, like, many different flavors that I've tried now. At this point. So I feel like the new trend also is, like, having fiber in these candies. Like, these healthy, quote unquote, healthy candies. So that I. Yeah, and so that you, like. I think it, like, lowers the, like, sugar count or how your body processes the sugar or something like that. If there's, like, more fiber in them anyways, so they're, like, better for you, but then they just, like. I don't know. They, like, definitely make you tutti patootie if you, like, eat too many. So it's like a funny situation because you're like, yeah, I want to eat, like, this entire bag, but I can't because I'll My pants. You know what I mean? And so. So it's just, like, funny. Anyways, so the, like, main. I think the worst ones are not worse in that they taste bad. Like, worse in that they make me. My pants if I eat too many of them are, like, the. What is the shoot? I'm gonna forget what the brand name. You've seen them. They're called, like, something sweets. You've seen them. They, like, have redone, like, the Swedish fish. They've redone, like, the peach rings. They have, like, all those, like, classic candies, and they've redone them. Yes, our watermelons, things like that. Anyway, so Joyride's the same thing, but they don't have as much fib in them. So you don't. Your pants, which is lovely. They have these, like, strips, like, sour strips that are really good, and then these, like, sour strawberry gummies and then sour watermelon gummies. They all are delicious. They don't have that, like, fake or, you know, like, aspartame taste to them. And so I really appreciate that. And they have, like, no added coloring or any of that either, even though they're cutesy and look delicious. So, yeah, Joyride is my new favorite candy company. I will say it is a little irking. And I think this is just, like, across the board. I can't really, like, fault them, but like, one bag of candy, which Matt can eat in one sitting. I'm not even kidding. Love him, but he will eat an entire bag of candy in one sitting. Is like $6 or something. You know what I mean? Not like a big bag. Like, they're like the little whatever bags. And I'm like, that's crazy that it's $6. But anyway, they look incredible. [00:20:56] Speaker A: They look like, I want to eat everything on this website, but I specifically saw sour green apple strips. [00:21:06] Speaker B: Oh, I haven't had Those. [00:21:08] Speaker A: Oh, my God, that sounds goddamn delicious. But I don't love that. They're a little bit more pricey. But that's just like, everything. Everything is so pricey. So it was just 4th of July this last weekend. Also, we didn't talk about what we did. Maybe we can get that update later on. [00:21:27] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. [00:21:29] Speaker A: So we barbecued. I was puppy sitting for Haley. He's so cute. Oh, my God. They have a golden doodle and his name's Albie. And he's probably like. I don't know, he's kind of the size of a standard poodle, so maybe like £40. I don't know. He was the chillest, cutest little Puppy. He's about 3 or 4 years old, so he's not like a puppy puppy. But he was adorable. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. My husband was, like, slightly gonna adopt him or like, was he. At the end of the weekend, he was like, we could totally. [00:22:05] Speaker B: No way. He loved him. [00:22:06] Speaker A: He's like, I could totally see us having a dog just like. Just like this one. I'm like, okay, well, if we can find another dog with that kind of temperament. Yeah, he was just, like, really trained. Well, like, clearly they spend a lot of time with this dog. They bring him to the clinic a lot, too. So he's kind of like a friendly face and in front of a lot of people, but he'll sit in a corner and not bark or, you know, whatever. Like, he's just such a cute little. Little hang. I don't know. He's just a little dude. So, yeah, and then we went running. I took him to the dog park. Anyway, so we had a barbecue and we had a fire for fourth of July. And instead of buying, you know, million gazillion dollar burgers, I made a black bean and quinoa. Vegan? Well, I don't know if it's vegan, but it's definitely a vegetarian burger. And it was very, very yummy. I will put the recipe on Instagram one of these days maybe, if we're lucky. But yeah, the black bean in red quinoa and, like, breadcrumbs, I think something like that. And then we had, like, cumin and paprika and garlic, and it was super watermouth or watermouth. Yummy. And then we put, like, barbecue sauce on it. So instead of like a burger with ketchup, it was. Yeah, vegetarian burger with barbecue sauce. Finger, finger. Looking good. [00:23:20] Speaker B: How did he like it? Yeah, super into it. [00:23:23] Speaker A: It was really, really good, huh? That's why I'M bringing it up. [00:23:27] Speaker B: Okay. If you hear a groaning thing in the background, that is not me. That is on my belly. That's on my butt. That is the tiny baby dog. That is. She is trying to make a name for herself. Sorry, cave. She was very much interrupting. That's okay. I'm glad. I'm so glad he liked it. [00:23:46] Speaker A: Really good for it. [00:23:46] Speaker B: That's great, puppy. [00:23:47] Speaker A: I was a little nervous because he's definitely not a dog dude. But Albie was great. They got along swell. And then the black bean burger just came through. It was really good. [00:23:58] Speaker B: Anyway, did he sleep with you guys? [00:24:01] Speaker A: My office is directly connected to the bedroom, so he stayed in my office, not like in the bedroom, so. [00:24:08] Speaker B: Oh, okay. [00:24:09] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:24:10] Speaker B: Gotcha. Perfect. That's great. Do you know if I've talked about this one? The book, the Correspondent? [00:24:20] Speaker A: No, but I did see it on Lindsay's table. [00:24:23] Speaker B: Have I talked to you? [00:24:24] Speaker A: I think I asked Lindsay about it. [00:24:26] Speaker B: Oh, right. Okay. That was. That was mine that I was supposed to have picked up or I was supposed to get from you anyways, while you were house sitting. Okay. So this is a book called the Correspondent and. Sorry, I was gonna look up Virgin by Virginia Evans. And it's definitely, like, the best book I've read of 2026, which is not saying much because I've only read, like, five books, but it's definitely the best book I've read in quite some time. It's a really easy, quick, fun read. So it's about this woman and just like a little overview is that she. The whole entire book is just her corresponding or, like, writing letters. Because she's like a big letter writer. She's writing letters to, like, different people in her family. Just like the neighbors, just like all of these people. It's like how she, like, main way of, like, obviously talk, chatting with people, but you kind of are, like, understanding the world, like, based off of her view. And it's really. She's, like, really witty and silly and like, kind of like a homebody. And I don't know, she's just like a very interesting character. But you, like, get to see this whole life, like, played out. And then there's, like, letters back to her and stuff too from other folks. And so you get to see, like, their personalities and, like, get to know these other characters as well. But it's just really well done. And it was just such a new, like, fun way of, like, coming out a novel and that. Yeah, I very much recommend it. It was, like, definitely a good ending and I had no idea, like, what was hap. Not what was happening, but just, like, I had no idea where the book was going, like, the whole time. So it was, like, a really fun read. Yeah. So highly recommend. And that one was recommended to me from Sam, but then as soon as Sam told me about it and I had, like, got it from her, like, everyone was reading it for their book club. Why? Like, Lindsay had it, Natalie had it, and Burr, and so, yeah, it just, like, got passed around pretty quick around, like, the whole friend group. And it is pretty quick read, too, so. Yeah, but definitely highly recommend. [00:26:18] Speaker A: I have to take a look at it. I have not. Well, I've got quite a bit of reading and books that are still. I'm, like, working my way through. I just need to, like, remember Kathleen went and, like, locked herself in a cabin for a couple of days. I feel like that sounds like a really good idea. Just, like, get back on track with all the various podcasts and TV shows that I have not seen in a while. I had. I don't know if I told you about the pork dumplings that we got from Costco. Did I tell you about these? Everything that I have is from Costco. Let's, like, all guess where I've been shopping lately. So we bought these pork. Pork. They're frozen pork soup dumplings, and they're myla. Actually, I don't know. It's M I L A Miller Mila. I don't know how you want to pronounce it. Plus, I think it's kind of cute. [00:27:08] Speaker B: Dogs also named that. [00:27:11] Speaker A: Yeah, so they're frozen, and they're really fun. You just, like, pop them on top of the steamer. We bought, like, a bamboo steamer from COVID when we thought that we were gonna make a bunch of soup dumplings. But, yeah, you just stick them on the steamer for eight minutes, and they are chef's kiss good. Like, very yummy. It don't have to, like, sit in the middle of a din tai fung to have a thousand people scream at me while I eat my dim sum. So it was really good in a pinch. But, yeah, I'm just gonna throw them on my list because they're clutch. Very easy to have in my freezer. And if I don't have, like, a plan for dinner or I'm starving for lunch. Eight minutes, and they're done super fast. [00:27:49] Speaker B: Yeah, totally. I love stuff like that. That's good. And, like, they're not too bad for you, Honestly, it's just, like, meat and dough. [00:27:56] Speaker A: I mean, the dough can get a little doughy. But I have, like, three of them for lunch and I'm full. Like, I feel like that's pretty sufficient. But anyway, yeah, in a pinch, they're really good. [00:28:08] Speaker B: Amazing. I'll do my. Well, I guess this is not technically a food. It's a drink. But have you ever tried the Happy Dad Salad seltzers? [00:28:16] Speaker A: No. [00:28:18] Speaker B: They are. I think they're like. They came out a few years ago and I just saw, like, a lot of marketing for them, so I don't know who created them or they must have been, like, an influence or something because people still, like, my dad has a Happy dad seltzer hat. It's just like, yeah, it's really cute. Anyways, their logo is, like, really cute. Whatever. And I had never actually tried the seltzers. I've heard about them in, like, this podcast. Other podcasts that I love that they no longer do on just, like, the streaming platforms. They just do Patreon. It's called the. You can support with those podcasts. And they've talked about it for a while anyways. But I just bought them for Mato the other day because I just, like, don't love Truly's and he only loves Trulies. So I was just trying to switch it up so that I could try one maybe or something, or maybe I would drink one. And so I bought him these Happy Dad Seltzers. And they're so good. Like, legitimately delicious. Like, they don't taste like that crappy malty liquor. They don't taste like they have weird flavors. Like, all the flav are, like, kind of subtle. Like, I would say they're, like, more on, like, the Lacroix side of, like, subtle flavor. But they, like, taste like real flavor and not just like, the super artificial flavor. I don't know how to describe them. I was, like, very, very pleasantly surprised by them. Not super sweet. Yeah, just like, overall, like, really delicious and, like, great flavors. So they had, like, a watermelon, a pineapple, a lemon lime, and then a cherry, which is, like, pretty standard for seltzer, so. [00:29:47] Speaker A: Dang. [00:29:47] Speaker B: It's like the perfect mix for us because I'm a watermelon pineapple girl. Like, those are my two white claw favorite flavors. And he's like the cherry and the lemon. I mean, he likes the watermelon too, but yeah, so it was like the perfect pack for us. It was very nice to have. So highly recommend. [00:30:02] Speaker A: Excellent. Yeah, I haven't tried them, but I did look their website up, and I feel like I've seen this brand before. The logo. [00:30:10] Speaker B: Right. [00:30:12] Speaker A: But I'm not seeing. Oh, I guess. Yeah, there's like a lot of different flavors. This fruit punch one looks super good. I am a huge fruit punch person. Do you remember Hawaiian fruit punch back in the day? I know. I'm. I was that kid. [00:30:24] Speaker B: Yeah. Oh, my gosh. [00:30:28] Speaker A: I don't have. I don't think I have another fave. I could probably whip them. Whip one up, though. [00:30:33] Speaker B: Oh, that's okay. Can I do one more? I mean, it's just like top of mind. If I don't do it now, it's not going to be relevant anymore. They. I'm sure that you've seen it, but like. Oh, no, you said you rid of Netflix. But there's a new show on Netflix called I will find you and it's like all the rage right now. Like, everyone's talking about it or something, but it's actually like, decent. We haven't finished it yet. We're on episode six out of eight and it's about this guy. I think it might be based on a book. It keeps saying, like a Harmon Cohen production or whatever the. And so I think it's like. And also it says it's a limited series. So anyways, I'm just led to believe that it's like they tell you what happens and then it's over. But anyways, it's very like, not my kind of jam in that it's like beating people up and shooting people and like that kind of stuff. But like, it's also very much my jam in that it's a kind of like a. What's it called? What's it called? Like, true crime kind of show. So it's like very good. And I had no idea where it's going or what the. Is going on actually still right now. So I would highly recommend. No, like, all eight are out. I just haven't got through all of them yet. We're on episode six, so we just watched six last night. So yeah, we're close. [00:31:48] Speaker A: Well, that's exciting to Knowing what's going on. [00:31:50] Speaker B: But by the time this comes out, I feel like that show will be irrelevant. Everyone will know like what that show. So anyways, I'll have to see if we can. [00:32:00] Speaker A: If we can put it on the queue. If we can put it on the queue. I did see this morning on Instagram that the Dungeon Crawler Carl series got picked up for a TV with Seth McFarland. And yeah, I don't know what they're gonna do. But they're coming out with a series and I'm pretty jazzed about it. My husband just read all the books again and I'm still through book three. [00:32:23] Speaker B: But you know what? [00:32:24] Speaker A: I'm a slow reader these days because I've been reading a bunch of contract law books. [00:32:28] Speaker B: Cool. [00:32:29] Speaker A: And studying for tests. So sick of tests, guys. I've got to do one more freaking test. I thought I was done. What am I gonna do? [00:32:38] Speaker B: Anyway, yeah, so, yeah, that's all that [00:32:40] Speaker A: I had, I guess. I want to hear a little bit about your fourth of July and then maybe we can jump into gratitudes and grievances. [00:32:46] Speaker B: She's got this. She can do it. Oh, yeah, yeah. Really quick. It was a really great weekend. It was our first weekend, like, home in a really long time, which sounds crazy, but yeah, it was really nice. We. We just, like, it was action packed for sure. So Thursday I went up to Three Creeks with Rosie and Garrett. Matt was still working, and so that was really nice. We, like, Miley and I went up there and so we played with Z Man in the river and. Or in the lake and we caught like, so many trout. There was like, I was shocked. Like, Garrett had two poles out and then one postoperative stopped working. But we had poles out and they were getting hit, like every, like, not even kidding. Like 15 seconds to 30 seconds. Like, as soon as you threw it out, it was like getting hit. And we were like, reeling these puppies and there were some of them that were huge. I was so impressed. So that was really fun. And it was also like my first day, like, really in the sun. Like, full blown summer sun, you know, And I was like, holy moly. Anyways, and then the next day, Matt and I ended up going to Hosmer Lake and we went paddle boarding with Myla. And she got in a lot of trouble because she was a psychopath. And we're never taking her on the paddle boards ever again. She's Matt. I've never seen Matt, like, actually mad at her. He was mad at her because she was so terrible and annoying. And she has been on the paddle board so many times. Like, I don't know if she's getting anxious in her old age or what, or if she, like, didn't like that we were like, on different paddle boards, you know, because typically we're, like, together on the paddle board when we're with her. And so, yeah, she was not having it. And it was a rough, rough day, but we made her stick it out. So anyway, and then Saturday was really lovely. We kind of ended up, like, being pretty low key. We were gonna go floating and hanging out with everybody, but we just went to the river instead and hung out with her and played with her in the water. And then, like, just watched tv, which was really nice, and actually watched the I will find you show. And then we went to our friend's house. Maximum Max and Bridget had a party at their house, at their new house that they just bought. And they had this beautiful view of the view and like, of Olive Bend. And so we saw the fireworks from there and it was really lovely. And we were, like, gonna hang out and like, camp at their house and all this stuff. And then we were like, whoa, we are pooped. Like, we've done so much this weekend. And so we just ended up coming home. And that was really nice too, to wake up in our own bed. And then on Sunday, we actually went out to Paina Lake because like I said, two of our friends just got engaged and so they're thinking about getting married out there. So we did like a full wedding tour with them on Sunday and that was really fun. And then we paddle boarded all the way across the lake and went to these hot springs. There's hot springs that are just accessible, like via trail or if you get there by boat or by paddleboard or whatever. And so that was really cool. That was my first time actually going to the hot springs. So, yeah, we just had a great, like, Paulina Lake day and it was so lovely and I think they might get married out there. Fingers crossed. So, yeah, it was just like a really wholesome weekend. Not relaxing and also very relaxing. Oh, my God. [00:35:46] Speaker A: Have we officially said, like, congrats or [00:35:48] Speaker B: are we waiting for them? Yeah, I don't know if I want to put them on blast on here, but we'll just say congrats, you guys, and we love you and so excited for it. It's just like maybe like 45 minutes south of Bend. It's not far. Actually. Maybe not even that far. 30 minutes out the bend. [00:36:08] Speaker A: My coworker SL mentor just went with his cute little family and they went to Lava Lake. Have you heard of this? [00:36:15] Speaker B: No. Where's that? [00:36:16] Speaker A: No, but it's just south of Bend. It's actually closer to like, WikiUp, I think. [00:36:21] Speaker B: Oh, okay. [00:36:22] Speaker A: But that's definitely on my bucket list. It's not very far and I feel like it's really cute. [00:36:27] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:36:27] Speaker A: So I might just go on out there and check it out. [00:36:30] Speaker B: There's a lot of good also have [00:36:31] Speaker A: to check out Paulina Lake. [00:36:32] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:36:33] Speaker A: Lakes are really next level. You just can't compare. [00:36:36] Speaker B: I know. [00:36:36] Speaker A: Did you hear. Okay, I know that I told you that I had hiked up like blue. Blue pool or whatever when I was over. When I was hanging out in bed. [00:36:44] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:36:45] Speaker A: Some kid died. Did you hear about this? [00:36:47] Speaker B: I did. [00:36:48] Speaker A: Oh, my God. He just died. That's so awful. And I thought Lindsay was like pulling my leg. No, she's serious. People die just jumping in. Don't jump into organ links. Be a little careful about it. [00:36:58] Speaker B: Yeah, well, that one is like extremely cold. But yeah. Yeah, I. Matt. When I were talking about it because I was like, do you think he had like a pre existing condition? Because you don't just. The water is cold, but it's not just like so cold that you like get hypothermic and die. Like, he must have like dove off of something really tall and like went really deep because like me and Lindsay just like jumped in and it was fucking cold. But like, we were fine. So he must have gone like super duper deep or something or had a preexisting condition. I don't know. But that just seems so bananas to me that that happened. Like, I mean, I know that it's [00:37:33] Speaker A: true and I believe it, but calm area too. It's not like everybody's like in the water. So. Yeah, maybe he did just like do a big like cliff dive in the very center of it and like the further. I don't know. We need to know more information about this because like. Yeah, that's crazy. [00:37:49] Speaker B: Damn. [00:37:50] Speaker A: I was just there. Anyway. [00:37:51] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:37:51] Speaker A: Orchid lights are deadly, but also gorgeous. Nothing compares. So I'm just gonna spend my time every free weekend that I have this but after my test and just go to go to lakes. [00:38:03] Speaker B: Okay. [00:38:03] Speaker A: Hang out. [00:38:04] Speaker B: That sounds great. [00:38:05] Speaker A: That sounds like. [00:38:06] Speaker B: Can we just do like a gratitude. [00:38:07] Speaker A: Gratitude grievances. Yeah, let's do that. Do you want to go first? Can I be grateful for your T shirt? What is up with this, like bass T shirt that you're wearing? Is this. [00:38:17] Speaker B: It's a. First of all, it's a chinook salmon. Thank you very much. And Austin drew this and Austin's shirt. And I'm just wrapping my friends here. It's actually really wet and stretched out right now because I just jumped in the river after we went on our hike and so I'm very like icky and sticky and I really want to take my bathing suit off. But we're here. I just ran straight in to record with you all so well, I'm grateful [00:38:44] Speaker A: for your T shirt because I saw it and I was like, that's so cute. [00:38:46] Speaker B: I wonder where she's like my dream. This is what tattoo I would love to have on my body. [00:38:51] Speaker A: But anyway, that's what I'm grateful for. Need to wash my hair. [00:38:55] Speaker B: They look like cartoonish or they look like too realistic. You can't get a fish that looks like cute to me. So anyways, I haven't got one. Any hoosers. I'm very grateful for just being here for summer, Ben. Summer is so great. Like we were talking about the rivers, the lakes that we're used to. You know, don't go chasing waterfalls. But I am ready to if we need to, if we want to. But yeah, I am just so very grateful to live in Bend and to live in this beautiful place that we get to enjoy. Summer is just like so magical and it can't get any better. So yeah, I do think Yosemite summers are also very magical. So not going to discredit that. But yeah, there's something about a Bend summer just like doesn't get any better. So very grateful for that and we're grateful for all of you and we love you all so much. Thanks for being candid with us. [00:39:52] Speaker A: Thanks for being candid. [00:39:53] Speaker B: Bye. [00:39:55] Speaker A: Bye. That's all for Today's episode of Candidly 30.
