[00:00:00] Speaker A: Foreign. Welcome, welcome, [00:00:20] Speaker B: welcome. Oh, my gosh. I thought you were gonna be like very up high in the register, but you came out all sultry. Caught me off guard. [00:00:28] Speaker A: Sorry. Yeah, no, I think I'm losing my voice. I feel not good. You. I don't sound different, but I feel like I am very, very low energy. And yeah, my voice is really putting me out right now. So anyway, how are you? I'm sorry to hear that. [00:00:44] Speaker B: Good. I gotta tell you, I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum. I was getting stretched and ready to like do my peloton thing for the first time in quite a while. And the first song that came on because I pulled up my old peloton playlist is Pony by Genuine. [00:01:01] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. What a baby. [00:01:03] Speaker B: So I'm like love it, Feeling it. Yeah. So I'm kind of like in a whole different vibe right now. I'm just like ant, ready to go work out, but excited to be here. [00:01:11] Speaker A: This is K Flare, this is Kelly. Hi, everybody. Yeah, we're actually like getting on a good cadence. I feel like we have really. I mean, it's definitely fall now, just like based on the weather, but also like, you know, I don't believe in fall until September 21st, but. Or whatever. September 22nd, actually. But I feel like just the weather and the fall and everything else has just like been so crazy. Last night I went to Nikki Glazer at Hayden Holmes. That was my first comedy show. [00:01:44] Speaker B: How was that? [00:01:45] Speaker A: Hayden Holmes. She was so good, actually. She. Okay. I will say that her two openers, like just to start, her two openers were so phenomenal. Ari something and L. Also something. But they both had like maybe 20 or 30 minute sets. Yeah, it's called the Stunning Tour, is her tour that she's on right now. But they were really great actually. Like, the guy was pretty silly. Like, he was very, very funny. But, you know, a lot of his jokes were like centered around being a bad dad and like his parents pants and like that kind of comedy. Whereas Elle's was more like. She was just very dry and just like kind of like everything was like kind of a pun, like everything like built on itself, like kind of jokes wise. And so I think that was like really inventive and just like really neat and fun to listen to. But Nikki Glaser was fantastic. I really liked that. She obviously. I think they all do this, but I've never been to a comedy show before. Especially like on. I have been to one, but like a small, small stage type one, you know, not like A big kind of sit down lawn situation, kind of a comedy show. And she like comes out the gate with just like a bit about bend and just like outdoorsy people and like that kind of stuff. So it was like definitely like tailored to Ben and to us. And so that was like kind of more fun, I think. But I was just thinking like, oh my gosh, it must be exhausting to have to like come up with, you know, a new bit every day that you're like on tour or whatever. Just she did like the first like section of just like being on bend or whatever. But it was very like inventive and very creative. I will say I love her so much, but she did. And I know this is like part of her like whole stick, but she did talk about like women's bodies like basically the whole time and like everything like led back to women's bodies and or celebrities bodies and. Or like the Ozempic epidemic or like fat people. Like there's a whole section on just like fat people and like having fat friends and. Which I know is definitely like part of her brand, but I feel like it just went on a little too long. Like I wish she had something else that was not just about women's bodies. But again, like I said, I know that's like part of her situation. Like that's what she's gotten famous on. [00:04:11] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:04:11] Speaker A: But no, it was like very, very like, I don't think comedians per se are fun. Like I don't just watch a comedy show, you know, or like, I don't watch like, what are they called? [00:04:23] Speaker B: That's more special. [00:04:25] Speaker A: Yeah, but there was like belly laughter, like type of jokes that were happening. Because I think it was like also like this, this the crowd. Like it was like a vibe where, you know, everyone was just like cracking up. And like there's people of course, like yelling, which I do not understand why there's hecklers at comedy shows. Like, what do you think you're doing? [00:04:45] Speaker B: Oh my God. [00:04:46] Speaker A: That's like a whole aside. [00:04:47] Speaker B: But like on the same level as my clapper annoyance. Like if you're gonna go to a like an EDM concert, don't be clapping extra beats. Sorry, go ahead. I had to interject. [00:05:00] Speaker A: No, that's, that's so real. Anyways, I highly recommend. She was fantastic. Also, the tickets were like $30, so like very, very worth it. But I will say that last night it was cold. Like it gets dark at like 7:30 now and it was cold, cold. Like I was not stoked. I even brought layers I had full, full fit on the full bend fit and it was cold and I was like, ugh, it's too early for it to be this cold. Like it is early September, you know. I. So it really bummed me out. So sorry. All that to say is I went [00:05:38] Speaker B: to Trader Joe's this afternoon to like grab a few things for the week for lunch and they had like a huge thing of cinnamon sticks. So I was probably 10ft away from the front door and I can already smell the cinnamon. So it's like very much in fault. Trader Joe's has their brand new stuff out. Maybe we should do like a taste test. [00:05:56] Speaker A: I went yesterday. [00:05:58] Speaker B: Nice. Did you buy anything from their like harvest that you want to mention or nothing? [00:06:03] Speaker A: I didn't buy anything new. I don't think I saw a lot of the old stuff that like we have tried before. Like the butternut squash, Mac and cheese. [00:06:09] Speaker B: Totally. That kind of JoJo's. [00:06:12] Speaker A: Yeah. But I will say that I forgot to never go to Trader Joe's. And in Bend on a Sunday. It was a nightmare. Like I'm not even like that's a rookie move. Yeah. It was like so far beyond terrible. Like I can't even, I can't even explain. Like the lines were like 10 people deep. Like it was. You couldn't even move in any single aisle. You can't, you can't move in any aisle anyways. And so that many people being there, you could not move in the aisle. So I just like parked my car like on the end of every aisle and just like walk down it and like got shit. I. I did end up spending so much money because I haven't been there in so long and there's such good like just fun little things that I love so much. Yeah. So anyways, freaky move. I went on a Sunday so never again will I be doing that. But I just love having their like their pre made meals are so great. Like like you said for lunches when I have it like meal prepped or whatever. Just having them like as a go to in the freezer. Really nice. And yeah, I just got all the like little fun things too. Like I love their coffee creamer and I don't even know what I bought honestly. And I spent like a hundred and [00:07:25] Speaker B: all the same good stuff from good old Trader Joe's. I can't believe you had one a Sunday. And like the store there in Bend is not super duper small. You know how the really small Trader Joe's gets in like Berkeley and like Alameda they're very, very small. And then here. [00:07:41] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:07:41] Speaker B: So if they're 10 or 10 or 15 people deep in the line, like, that's a big. That's so many. That's just not fun at that point. Like, going to a Costco after church on Sunday is just not my cup of tea. [00:07:53] Speaker A: But otherwise, yeah, 100%. Also, you know how the checkers have to like ask you every question under the sun and you're like, okay, let's keep this line moving, lady. Like, let's go, let's go. Like, stop asking me questions. But yeah, anyhow. Yeah. How was your weekend otherwise? Was it chill? [00:08:12] Speaker B: Good? Yeah, it was really nice and chill. It's been a little colder and like darker here, which has been really nice. But I got to clean and I made tea, like ground up peppermint and made like homemade steam steep tea or whatever. I made chili, like a good eight hour roast kind of chili. It was fabulous. We put. We did a puzzle. It was just kind of like a really quiet weekend. Sorry I'm boring everybody, but yeah, things are finally slowing down. It feels so good. [00:08:43] Speaker A: It sounds great. [00:08:43] Speaker B: Anyway, so we've not really been doing much, but I do want to talk a little bit about our previous episode if that's okay. Just because I like had time to relisten to the episode and I walked away feeling a little icky about, not about like what I said with Gloria Steinem being kind of the end of the era and there's not really anybody in our generation that we can look up to. And I am absolutely false. Like, there's so many incredible women and people in the world right now. So I just want to like, mention Beyonce and I want to mention Malala and I want to mention Nikki Glaser. Like, you're talking about, like, I just wanted to rewrite the script a little bit or at least circle back to that because it did bother me this last weekend when I was re listening to the episode. [00:09:29] Speaker A: I don't think hard of a time though, because, yeah, I do understand what you're saying. Like, there are very influential women that I do think will make a splash. But it just feels right now in this moment in time, they have not done or completed anything remotely close to like, what Gloria and Dolly did, you know, and so that's fine. And like, I'm sure there will be people in the future that will get to that point, but it just feels like I understood your sentiment of like, it just feels like very daunting of like, wow, we don't really have anyone to look to now for, like, these very specific, like, types of role models. And so I hope that we do see them in the future. And I do think that we're always rewriting the script. I will say, like, what about Sandy Bullock? Because I'm still obsessed with her and I still love her so much and. Yeah, yeah, I just think that there's [00:10:27] Speaker B: like, have you seen the new movie yet? How are you gonna go see it? [00:10:30] Speaker A: I haven't seen it yet. No, I kind of want to wait. Sam is coming this weekend and so, spoiler alert. [00:10:38] Speaker B: Oh, that's so fun. [00:10:39] Speaker A: Yeah. So I think I had it on our agenda for this weekend, but it looks like, because I was like, low key planning that the weather was going to be terrible this weekend. But it sounds like it might be kind of nice. We might get to shift and do other things. But I was wondering. I was just gonna ask her if she wanted to go see it together. So that is on the list of things to do this weekend. But, yeah, I really do want to see. I just listened to another podcast with her on it, just like, promoting and I just love her so much. And yeah, it sounds just like. Like, I don't think I really will like the plot because it's like more about her daughters or whatever and, like her relationship with her daughters. Then, yeah, the, like, previous storyline, which makes sense. Like, it can't be the same thing. So I'm just not sure that I'll like it as much. But we'll see. We'll see if we can get there. [00:11:29] Speaker B: We'll see. Okay, well, if you're gonna have salmon, you guys have to go to Trader Joe's. You don't have to buy anything, but just like, pick out some of the more interesting fall items that they have and then we can come back. And do you think she'd be on the podcast next time? [00:11:42] Speaker A: Yeah, that's true. We could totally record this weekend. That'd be great, actually, for a taste. Yeah, that would be fun. [00:11:48] Speaker B: And then we can report back. [00:11:49] Speaker A: Cool. Yeah, let's do it. For sure. Just so you guys know, our producer right now is in Morocco. Well, she's currently in Canada or in air right now. I talked to her a couple hours ago. She has left the building, everybody. So we are on our own for the next two weeks. So just bear with us while we edit and upload and record and all the things now that we have to do the full gimmick because we will miss her for sure. Because that just lifts a huge load off of our plates, her doing that portion of it, so. But we're very excited for her to see Morocco and do all the things. [00:12:24] Speaker B: I know. I can't wait to hear about it. It sounds like incredible. Yeah, that's definitely on my bucket list to go over there. [00:12:31] Speaker A: Yeah, absolutely. So yeah, I won't do any spoilers. I only know a few things that they're actually doing. But yeah, hopefully she'll come on the pod as well after. [00:12:40] Speaker B: Yeah, don't tell me. I wanna. [00:12:41] Speaker A: She can tell us about it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, definitely. I'm also just like a low key nervous. [00:12:46] Speaker B: We got a lot of stuff in [00:12:47] Speaker A: the cooker because she. Yeah, I don't know, I just like. It's kind of like a third world country a little bit. I know she's going with girlfriends and everything, but yeah, I'm just like scared of my parents being in third world country without me or something. I don't know. But there will be fine. Everything's gonna be great. [00:13:03] Speaker B: Are you tracking her? [00:13:04] Speaker A: Yes, I have been tracking her and but it only like updates when she's like connected to us WI fi or something. So I was looking this morning and I couldn't see her location and I was like panicking and then it updated to Canada and she texted me. So anyway, but yeah, we'll see. I texted dad and I was like, are you okay? He's like, she's been not even gone like 24 hours. I was like, okay, great, just checking on you. [00:13:29] Speaker B: But yeah, anyways, good for you for checking on him. That's sweet. [00:13:34] Speaker A: Yeah. Last weekend was our first weekend, so staying home, which was crazy, like the first weekend we've been home in quite some time and it felt so nice even though it was not relaxing in the slightest. Hence why I'm like exhausted right now. But yeah, also I don't know what I did to my back but I like hurt my back somehow. I think it's because I've been trying to run a lot more lately and I've been doing like trail runs and I think it's just tough like movement if that makes sense. Also I'm just like not a runner and I know that, but I want to be. So anyways, my back has been hurting and so it's been really hard sleeping also lately and so I think I just like didn't sleep that great this weekend and then. Yeah, so then I just feel like extra. [00:14:19] Speaker B: I was in bed by 9:00 every night, Friday, Saturday and Sunday and it was glorious. [00:14:26] Speaker A: Yeah, good for you. [00:14:27] Speaker B: Lots of sleeping this weekend. I feel like I actually caught up on stuff. I know. I feel really good. Feeling pretty great. I'm excited to get on my peloton. Kelly's got to go and eat some pizza. [00:14:39] Speaker A: The opposite of peloton. [00:14:40] Speaker B: Yeah. I'm just, like, feeling this week, it's. Well, you're gonna finish out all your steps and stuff and eat some yummy pizza, but I wasn't gonna give you a hard time, girl. Come on. [00:14:51] Speaker A: No big deal. Anyways, I haven't done pizza party in so long, so it'll be really nice. I haven't been to Kevin and Lizzie's actually in minute too, so. [00:14:59] Speaker B: I know. [00:14:59] Speaker A: Yeah, It'll be good to see them. And I know you have to tell [00:15:03] Speaker B: them I said hi and I hug. Give him a hug from me. [00:15:06] Speaker A: Yeah, absolutely. So I don't have it. [00:15:08] Speaker B: It's like the last pizza party of the summer. [00:15:10] Speaker A: Totally. So I don't have my tik tok fact of the week this week. I honestly didn't even have time to look at tik tok, literally all weekend Friday. Didn't look at tik tok all weekend. Usually I look at tik tok, like, during work hours. Obviously don't tell anybody, but. Yeah, I didn't even get to do that today. It was, like, so busy. So I don't have my tick tock fact of the day. But I'll get there. I'll get back there eventually. After, maybe after, like, April, I'll be back in the slowdown season or something. So pray for me. It's gonna be deadly for the next few months. I still am taking off two weeks in November for Hawaii, so they're just gonna have to deal with, um. [00:15:51] Speaker B: Nice. [00:15:52] Speaker A: But yeah. Anyways, is that all you want to talk about? Do you want to be a gratitude ingredient Grievance? Wow. Grievance. [00:15:58] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. Let's wrap up with gratitudes and grievance. Grievance. Grievances. [00:16:04] Speaker A: Do you have one off the top of your head? [00:16:06] Speaker B: What have you been grieved about? What have you? [00:16:09] Speaker A: Oh, my God, no. [00:16:10] Speaker B: I'd have to think for a few seconds. I'm sure I can fix something. [00:16:13] Speaker A: So many things. Probably most top of mind is the freaking rats. I know I've already had this as a grievance on here, but our garden is, like, coming to an end and it just keeps eating everything. And so it's just frustrating when we, like, only have a few things left in the garden. Like, we only have a few tomatoes left. We only have A few zucchini left, and they take bites out of it. They don't even eat the whole thing. I'm like, I wouldn't be even noticed probably if you ate the whole thing, but the fact that you just take a bite out of everything pisses me off. So. [00:16:45] Speaker B: Yeah, that's a dick move. [00:16:46] Speaker A: Yeah. What. Right. Other than that. [00:16:49] Speaker B: Damn rats. [00:16:50] Speaker A: Just right. You know, tenants. Tenants have. Being a landlord. How about that? Being a landlord. It's my grievance for the day because. [00:16:59] Speaker B: Yeah, that's a good one, too. Yeah. [00:17:02] Speaker A: Not. It's not my fave. It's not. It's not very fun. So, yeah, thankfully, Matt takes out a lot of that burden. I can't. I can't complain. But, yeah, it is not for the week. Not for the faint of heart, that's for sure. So pray for me also for that. So, yeah, we're having. We're doing great. [00:17:21] Speaker B: This is probably something that we. I could totally tell by your voice. Okay, I have one. This is probably something that I'm sure we've talked about in the past, but, like, I go to work every day. I work in the fourth floor, and it's like, very communal kitchen. Everybody has lunch either downstairs or at their desk. And somebody brought in fish today. And I just don't understand. I get that you want to eat fish. It's perfectly fine. I understand. But take it outside or, like, I don't know, take it downstairs. Don't. The. The whole office smelled like fish for like, the last hour and a half of the day because we have lunch at, like, 12:30 and then we're off at 3, so it's not like the whole day, which is kind of nice, but. [00:18:12] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:18:12] Speaker B: I just don't understand people bringing fish into the office. [00:18:15] Speaker A: That's really funny. [00:18:16] Speaker B: I. That's just. It's rude. [00:18:17] Speaker A: We talk about that a lot, actually, because, you know. Yeah. There's just, like, such office etiquette and whatever. But I always. I do bring fish into the office quite often. Like, I either bring fish tacos, leftovers, or I bring steak, salmon, because we have salmon a lot. [00:18:33] Speaker B: Ellie, you can't. Okay, it's so me. [00:18:36] Speaker A: The caveat. Listen, listen, listen, Linda, okay? There's a huge. There's a huge difference in between warm fish smell and no fish smell when it's cold. Like, it doesn't. [00:18:51] Speaker B: It's all fish smell. You can't. Don't. [00:18:55] Speaker A: No, it is not. [00:18:56] Speaker B: Oh, no, no, no, no, no. I cannot sanction this. It cannot. Cannot support this do. Into the office. What if somebody's, like, gagging in the background? G can't. [00:19:07] Speaker A: I only have also. Well, there's like, probably like 10 people in my office at this point, so I don't care that much. Like, sorry, guys. Someone did say something the other day. He was like, oh, does someone have, like, tuna? And I was like, not offensive. This is not tuna. This is broccoli. [00:19:23] Speaker B: Okay, so somebody said something. Oh, my God. Okay. I. I think I work on, like, as if. [00:19:31] Speaker A: It smells good, though. [00:19:32] Speaker B: Oh, I'm sure he was just trying to be nice about it. So I work on this on a floor with probably 150 people on it. So, like, there's definitely. Whoa. Yeah, like, more. How do you say this? Like, it just packs so much more punch. If you can make it that stinky and that, like, far from the office. I don't know, I just find fish in the office to be a terrible idea. Don't bring fish into the office anymore. Oh, my God. [00:20:04] Speaker A: Okay, okay, Relax. Geez Louise. [00:20:08] Speaker B: Maybe my opinion, but. But I have a weird thing about smells. Super sensitive to it. I want to be grateful for. I don't know, my team has been really wonderful lately. Like, I've been busier and I've had to stay a little bit later, and I'm getting kind of the last. I'm not the last, but, like, little tweaks about my process and trying to learn a bunch. And it's a lot of nuance conversations. So they're not, like, easy fixes you can do in a 10 second thing. You have to, like, take time and sit down with me and expand on it. So. And they've been really wonderful about it. So I'm just going to, like, put a little gratitude out for my team. And they want, like, it's so clear that they want me to do well because that helps every. Like, it just feels like a different kind of vibe than I've had in the past. So I feel very supportive and I want to be grateful for that. So just grateful for my job. [00:21:05] Speaker A: That's great. Yeah, absolutely. Very cool. I just want to be grateful for Mateo. He works very hard at all things, but he's been very supportive lately of just like, house stuff with my house and financial stuff. We've been really focusing on paying off debt and just trying to figure all that stuff out and just, like, being smarter about, like, buying things and. Yeah, like I said, we're going to Hawaii in November, and so we just, like, were able to buy all of our plane tickets on points, you know, instead of like both spending a decent amount of money and so it just like that kind of stuff just like feels really good to be able to do together and. Yeah. So I feel. Feel just very grateful for him for. Yeah. Just like being. Yeah. A good teammate and like this. This financial situation that we're in right now because it sucks kind of. And everything's expensive and. Yeah. It just feels nice to have like a little balance of because, like, we're both not good at saving money. And so having that accountability partner, I feel like is really nice. So we're working on it, but it's ever going. Conversation. [00:22:31] Speaker B: Yeah. I'm sorry, but I'm glad that you're at least having the conversation. That's a good sign. [00:22:38] Speaker A: Yeah. I mean, he'll never listen to this podcast, so it doesn't matter anyways, but so you all know, [00:22:45] Speaker B: I love. [00:22:45] Speaker A: I don't even like, if I didn't like, sit in here and record and him knock on the door and walk in every single time, I don't even think he would know it had podcasts like before like that. You know what I mean? Yeah, he's. He's silly. So anyways, I think that's all from us. We're gonna. I'm gonna run out of here. Yeah. [00:23:02] Speaker B: So go say hi to everybody at the party. Yeah, likewise. It's good to chat and catch up with you for this little quickie and. Yeah. [00:23:09] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:23:10] Speaker B: Thanks for being candid. [00:23:11] Speaker A: Quick, quick, quick. Bye. We love you. Bye. [00:23:39] Speaker B: That's all for today's episode. [00:23:40] Speaker A: Hope you enjoyed listening as much as we love you. [00:23:42] Speaker B: Follow us on Instagram andly30. [00:23:45] Speaker A: See you next week, Sam.
